STORY
This film is about father-daughter relationship, about friendship and it shows us that injustice happens.
The story is really moving, but there are also funny elements, which made the movie even better.
I loved the whole movie except for the trial scenes. As a law student, I just could not bear how ridiculous the scenes were. They always lost me there. It was way to emotional to be true. Due to those scenes, I had to deduct one point.
CAST/ACTING
The cast was superb. I cannot express with my words how amazing the actors were.
Firstly, let me mention Kal So Won. This young actress was stellar. She is definitely one talented child actress. She was simply amazing!
Ryu Seung Ryong as the father deserves all the awards he has won. His acting was flawless. I totally believed that he is a mentally disabled person. The scenes with him and Kal So Won were amazing. I was crying whenever they parted. Both of them portrayed their characters really well.
Also the actors who portrayed the prisoners were great. Oh Dal Su, Park Won Sang, Jung Man Shik, Kim Jeong Tae and Kim Ki Cheon proved that they are senior actors and they never disappoint my expectations. Thanks to those actors, the movie can be rated as a comedy. I simply loved them!
Jeong Jin Young's role was the chief of the prison. His character needed more screen time. There were bits of information about his life, which were disclosed but they were practically useless for the story. They should have focused on it more or just not focus on it at all.
As for Park Shin Hye. Thanks to this movie, I confirmed that I am not a fan of hers. I don't like her acting. I didn't believe her character for a single moment. I am sorry, but she was supposed to be a lawyer. I know that she defended her father's case, but she was way too emotional for her to be a lawyer. I just could not take her seriously in the trial scenes. When she was acting as a lawyer, her acting was seriously not good. Also, I cannot see any diversity in her acting. She always plays the same types of characters. Therefore, I am glad that here, her role was not as big and Kal So Won had more screen time.
MUSIC
The music was okay, It fitted with the film well and accompanied the scenes brilliantly.
OVERALL
The film had a small budget so the story is quite simple. There is nothing eccentric and I like those types of movies. They are usually the best movies you can watch.
I cried several times while watching this film. It is a great movie with a message and it is definitely worth to watch.

I had bookmarked this movie a long time ago and finally decided to watch it today. And may I say it was the best decision to watch this MASTERPIECE.
It made me so emotional that I couldn't control myself and sobbed uncontrollably. It tugged at my heartstrings.
I finished watching this movie just a few minutes ago and my eyes are still wet and puffy from the movie.
It showed the purest form of love between a father and his daughter. It also showed how false accusations can change someone's life. The acting delivered by each person was fabulous. And the person who played the lead, Sir, I salute you for such a mindblowing performance. The daughter was such an adorable and reliable person.
The story writer deserves many many awards for this. The cinematography, the music and everything is beautiful so if you're hesitating about this one, DON'T and watch it !

All of the actors were a brilliant combination and the little girl was not only adorable but amazingly emotive.
No matter what genre you usually prefer, this is one of the few that will cater to most. Don't expect hardcore prisoners, sob stories, exploitation of the handicap, or anything else that is heavy in theme. It isn't trying to be anything. Only for you to follow a turning point in an accused man's life who loves his daughter and experience the impact these two will have on those around them, including you as the viewer.

The best way for me to describe this drama as a whole would be comparing it to that of a roller-coaster. An emotional roller-coaster to be precise. One moment you're laughing, next moment you're balling your eyes out. The amazing acting made these emotions even stronger.
Not only was the acting amazing, the story itself is nothing short of a masterpiece, and coupled with well timed, and well composed music, it made the atmosphere something very special.
The last time I was moved this much by an Asian drama was when I watched 1 Litre of Tears, and I think I was moved even more by this movie.
This movie is in itself a masterpiece and is completely unforgettable -- a true must-watch.

I have issues with the message
This is definitely one of the best Korean movies of all time. However, my issue is that the whole message of this movie is “don’t judge without knowing all the facts” which is not a great stance considering current events. No man deserves to have benefit of the doubt when it comes to r*pe and p*dophilia. Period. That’s the long and short of it. Yes Lee Yong Goo’s story is a sad and unfortunate one. Granted. But what the woman saw in the market could not be given a “what if that’s not what happened” treatment. Absolutely not. I refuse to even entertain the idea of r*pists having any form of sympathy. Or to hear their side of story. Nope. Absolutely not. So, yeah while I do feel for Lee Yong Goo and his daughter, I believe what happened to him was justified given the circumstances as well as his own confession.Having said that, this movie had me sobbing like a baby!!!!! THIS is what “boys will be boys” should be 😭 these boys got me laughing like an idiot while bawling my eyes out. Also can we talk about baby Yea Seung for a minute?! What a brilliant little actress. The future of kdrama is in good hands.
All in all, 100% would recommend.

Never underestimate a father-daughter bond, or how good or evil some people can be.
This movie is a showcase for three major things and does all 3 of them very well.Firstly, it showcases the strength of the father - daughter bond. From the start you can tell these 2 have a special and deep relationship and love each other very much. They have their own peculiar way of saying goodbye, and the child actress, in particular, is STELLAR. Everything she did seemed real and she was also SO cute throughout the movie. The father was also very convincing as a mentally challenged individual willing to give up his life to save his daughter's life. Total strangers, some of whom were her father's fellow prisoners, picked up on it and eventually a lot of people decided to help them out. People don't do that unless they believe the bond is real, and worth risking something for. It was so convincing I didn't even question it. All the way to the bitter end.
Secondly, this also shows how people in positions of authority can decide to bully Autistic or Mentally Challenged people. The disabled ones are easily threatened and made to look like liars. Even if there are others who questioned the validity of the charges, nobody would listen to them until YEARS later. Because a person who is "not all the way right" is presumed to be guilty somehow. That whole thread frustrated the heck out of me because I can totally see this happening even today in many countries.
Finally, the ones in prison at cell number 7 were not all bad people. The gangster started off an enemy then became a staunch ally. Those prisoners are SUPER resourceful at working with other prisoners and even guards, to come up with various plans for smuggling the little girl in and out of prison. Seriously, if they're that smart, someone should give them a small, start up company to run and see how that goes, who knows it might end up being a huge success. There seem to be no limits on their imagination, ingenuity or intelligence.
It's one of the rare films where once I finished watching it I realized I could find no fault. There's nothing I would add or take away, the movie was great, just as it is. Completely worth watching.

I cried, I laughed, I smiled until my cheeks hurt. I was so angry about the injustice that I could die. But the thing is. It could actually be a "inspired in real events" movie because it sure happens. How people with disability can be discriminated and used. How justice can be evil and the criminals be guardian angels.
I just didn't liked the final event (don't want to spoiler ) but it's just real.
You will not regret if you watch this. A contrary. It has 10 out of 10 not just because you have Park Shin Hye in it (it's a plus haha) but because it's a great story that keeps you interested until the end, because has a incredible cast (Kal So Won is just amazing and Ryu Seung Ryong made real justice to his character. Park is Park. What more can i say?) And because it's all so well done that it's impossible not to like it. I waited three years to watch this. I sure regret it.

This was one of the most well written story of a father daughter relationship like never seen before.
A masterpiece. I found it on on a top ten movie list and decided to watch it at 3 am, the worst thing I could have done.
The actors very top quality, especially the little girl Kal So Won as Lee Ye Seung she was amazing, To be so young and move the audience with brilliance.
I highly recommend this movie, just keep in mind that it's a tear jerker, heavily teared.
I give it a 10/10 for everything but I don't think I would be able to rewatch it again. I cried way too much

Unbelievably speechless masterpiece! Why did they do this to us? They make us believe in miracles and then crush our miracles!! It destroys u if u truly understand.
The story was powerful! It had its reasons. It teaches u about LIFE!!
People must understand there's no justice in this world if humanity doesn't do anything...
We must protect those mentally disabled....
We must prove that we are better then the corrupted humanity.
Acting hits the point! They can move u to bawling your eyes out. I can't control myself, it exploded!! It won't stop, oceans kept spilling!! Prepare some tissues, I'm warning you cuz I realized that my blanket was soaked w tears!!
I've watched this again with my cousin, however she didn't cry, probably cuz she was too young to understand life.
This is the perfect movie to watch with your family, friends, cousins, siblings, relatives, loved ones....
Well, it's miracle in the winter!! It's so great, it reminds u to cherish love ones.. It was a killer but it was heartwarming!! Highly recommend!! Not good enough reason, well, EXO watches it too while bawling their eyes out together!
