A Disappointment to Dedicated Fans

TharnType, like many others, was my very first BL so I had high expectations for this season and boy did this season just destroy my hopes and dreams.

Yes, there were times when it was clear that they had been together for 7 years, and those times were the best in the show, but everything else was a dumpster fire thrown into a volcano. The one thing that I will give it is that there were some moments of incredible acting by both Mew and Gulf, but that's where my praises end. The only other love I have for this show is bias love because they started my BL adventure.

For a show called TharnType, you barely see them, let alone them together and it's just disappointing.

One of the things that has really ruined these last few episodes for me has been Mew's actions on social media. By his recent posts you wouldn't even be able to tell that he was the lead actor, he's posted absolutely nothing about the show for weeks and it just feels like a slap in the face as a fan.

All in all, I'd go back to watch their cuter moments together, but it's not something I would go back to rewatch any time soon.

Happy Ending ...

I particularly liked this second series of this amazing story ...

Tharn & Type Journey after 7 years together, and how they touched on some real issues that I am sure every new couple experiences when hitting the 7 year mark.

I particular love Tharn strength and determination and such a strong love towards Type, he always stood by and allowed him to vent out his anger but he never waived and always there for his MAN!! The emotions and the ups and down that these two experienced were very real and you could feel the love that they had for each other. They suited and complimented each other really perfectly.

I feel this second part really flowed through nicely, the sister grew up and the brother and friends all found they best half, however Type friend Techno was the real character in this second series, he kept us entertained and his comments and quirkiness made for an exception watch, I loved his character here.

This was really good binge worthy watch

Honestly, it's bad.

Let me start by saying that I loved the 1st season. I follow Mew Suppasit in IG and so far almost all of his work is awesome; except for this one. I’m sorry, a true fan will admit when his WIFU made a mistake. The story feels rush and basically, they try to capitalize on the 1st season. It felt that at the end, they had to come back to the same ending as the 1st one. They added drama in the hospital because they needed an enemy, and even brought some of the same characters that they were not even developed and ended up doing nothing for the story. Mew’s acting was all over the place. I think he knew that this show wasn’t going to be that good, so he tried to bring the cuteness and loving Mew that everyone knows in order to help the story. I appreciate that they try to make a sequel to the great 1st season, but, I think they should had waited for a better story.

Hot kisses are irrelevant when the plot is so horrible.

Tharn & Type:

From the very first episode, we could already see how their relationship hadn't improved at all. They both still acted like children, especially Tharn. Tharn had always been quite manipulative, but in this, he went the extra mile. He tried so hard to get Type to marry him. He just couldn't let Type be. I get that it was something Tharn really wanted because he loved Type. It just wasn't his decision to make, though. Type repeatedly said he didn't want to, but of course, he eventually gave in because otherwise, Tharn would probably throw a fit. Tharn was beyond unreasonable in this season. One thing that made zero sense was how he saw Fiat kiss Type, but he didn't see the part where Type pushed him away? There was absolutely no trust in this relationship, even after seven years. Tharn acted like an idiot. I mean, Type didn't trust Tharn either, to be fair. He went out of his way to "get rid of" that one woman earlier in the season. But why? Tharn had always stated that he was gay and had no interest in women, so why did he worry? He seriously trusted Tharn so little that he believed Tharn, a gay man, would cheat on him with a woman. He also thought Tharn was cheating on him with his colleague. Neither of them was thinking clearly, obviously.

Type:

The only one that had some character development in this compared to the first season was Type. He wasn't abusive, at least. Then he went on to kidnap Fiat, like what? Type himself had experienced trauma, so I found it hard to believe he would do something like that. It just didn't fit the story at all. I felt like I was watching an entirely different kind of genre. Type said he cared about Fiat's knee getting better, but then he went on to threaten to break his leg? You know, the most important thing to Fiat as a basketball player. He also got all of his friends to help him. Even Leo helped. The man that allegedly loved Fiat. I expected better from all of them, honestly.

Leo & Fiat:

They were both imbeciles. Leo should have just told Fiat that he liked him, but instead, he chose to suffer and watch him sleep with a bunch of other men in an attempt to get his attention. Fiat could also just have told Leo that he liked him, but instead, he pursued Type. Even after he knew that Type was in a relationship, he still kept on pursuing him. He almost ruined Type and Tharn's relationship, but that didn't seem to affect him very much. He only apologized after he had gotten what he wanted. He was just incredibly selfish and whiny. He might have had a rough time, but that does not give him a pass.

Techno:

I'll speak briefly about Techno. I found him very annoying, even more so than in the first season. Every scene he was in had to be funny, but I just found it silly and unnecessary.

Phugun & Cirrus:

They were a good couple, but also not. I felt that their relationship was a tiny bit weird. Cirrus treated Phugun like a child, and I'm not sure how I felt about it. They were cute enough, I guess.

Klui & Seo:

Why were they even a part of this season? I assumed they were going to be a couple, but they barely appeared. They tried to make a heartbroken Seo who had just given up on his dream funny? I didn't quite get it.

Champ & Khunpol:

They were my saving grace. I could watch Khunpol smile all day. They were just adorable. If only they had developed their relationship a bit more. My only frustration was how dense Champ was, but his innocent nature also added something sweet in a way. They were just perfectly unproblematic and a breath of fresh air.

Type's dad:

After seven years, he was still the same homophobic piece of trash? He hadn't accepted it, not even a little bit? Also, I was supposed to find it hilarious? No. Homophobia is not funny. He was also creepy and spoke weirdly about women. That scene with Thanya made me so uncomfortable.

Type's ordination was an odd idea. The sole reason why he did it was due to not being able to give his parents grandchildren. So, he felt like he owed them. Excuse me? As if him being with another man makes him less deserving of his parent's approval and love. It just felt off to me. If he wanted to do it for himself, then it would've been fine. Ending the season with Thorn's wedding was also just not right. Good for them, but I didn't watch this to have a straight wedding be the highlight of the season, pretty much. I guess it's because Type and Tharn are going to get married in the special episode. An episode that probably isn't going to be free. Sigh. Because of all the Fiat drama, I almost forgot about the whole thing with Type's boss. It just showed how they didn't have a clear vision for this season. It was all just thrown in there.

In conclusion, this season was pointless.

I came to say a few words ♡

So, TharnType is absolutely one of the my fav series and I really loved the first season. I didn't start the second season right away because I was scared of sad ending or that it would have made the whole series as I say 'trash'. But I watched it and that's good I did. Personally I liked the first season more but I really love this one too <3

The reviews were so depressing to read and I was already prepared if that really would be bad. But it wasn't. I can't get it why people is saying something like 'it was boring' etc... I think the story went like it'd also go in real life and it was all I wanted.

Mew and Gulf really did a good job and I liked Léo's actors's work a lot too <3 Some acting may was a little bit rigid but it didn't disturb me at all. All couples were cute and I loved all scenes where Techno was, he's so hilarious :))

I usually don't like musics in series but this time that theme song really got me and the lyrics <33 Loved it.

But anyways, I really loved it and It WaSn'T bAd. Of course I understand that everyone has their own opinions and it's okay. I hope that you'll watch it too and make your mind about was it good or not. BUT I LOVED!!

Only Slightly Better than the Original

The main characters are still bickering almost daily after 7 years. This kind of abusive relationship isn't a good platform for a long term commitment. One wonders how they lasted this long. The main thread of this season is that our heroes want to get married and reluctant Type finally gives in in the final installment but we never get to see the wedding. I guess there's an upcoming special for that, but after 12 repetitive episodes the audience deserved to see it here. Given the couple is still rather dysfunctional after all these years it would have made more sense for the main plot to revolve around marriage counseling with both boys evolving to become real grownups at, presumably, age 29. At the very least, Type should have gone to counseling to deal with his childhood abuse and anger management issues. I really have a hard time liking his character. Given the popularity of this series and the upcoming marriage special I'd have to guess there will be another sequel, so let's hope the Type character finally becomes a man and comfortable with his life choices. Maybe these two need to adopt a child?

The story of Tharn and Type wasn’t bad per se - though I still maintain that Dark Blue Kiss did the stalker kid arc better with Non and PeteKao - it simply proved that some stories may look great on paper but they don’t really work on-screen. Eps on eps on eps of nothing but cute domestic scenes might work as a fic but drama needs, well, drama to stay interesting. No matter what some people say.

But I will be forever grateful to TTS2 for LeoFiat and for introducing me to the awesomeness that’s JaFirst and their chemistry and for directing my attention to Ja Phachara in particular who was criminally underused and ugly-wigged in UWMA hence he flew under the radar for me (which reminds me I need to re-watch his scenes from that). But LeoFiat, their strange push-n-pull, their odd dynamics... yeah, that gave me life and kept me hooked. It’s too bad that they weren’t given more space, more background and development. Oh well...

Emotional roller-coaster

This season was such a roller-coaster, though there was times that I was annoyed, I can say that I enjoyed it. Each of the side couples gave me something to look forward to from their stories. LeoFiat with their misunderstood feelings and abandoment issues on Fiat's half resulting in making him the villian of the season, ChampDoc with the secret crush, CirPhugun with the sugary sweet moments as a break from the drama in between. Another part I enjoyed was the friendship between Type, Techno and Champ and the bond between Thorn, Tharn and Thanya. Also, though hardly around, I enjoyed the Seo and Klui moments.

The maturity development between Tharn and Type this season was great to see, especially from Type's part. Communication though still needing work, was there this time around rather than fists flying. The issues of work place abuse, homophobia and same sex marriage as percieved by the outside world are all showcased through Type and his daily life as a working adult. As well as the struggle of maintaining a relationship when time their time divided between their busy work life and their social life.

Production was off this season though; Plenty of audio screw ups but I didn't let it bother me too much. The acting distracted well enough from it.

A GREAT Depiction of an ADULT Relationship

I start this by saying I abandoned TharnType series 1 because it was too toxic and messed up. I could NOT handle that kind of stuff. I only watched TTS2 because I like them as actors. Perhaps I don't know how toxic it got before I quit with S1 but oh well. Just the first EP made me go "Nope".

This was SO MUCH BETTER!

Showing the struggles of two adults in a relationship when real life causes struggles was SO NICE! Grown adults have problems. Established couples have problems. You can love someone with your whole heart and you still argue and have miscommunication and have issues where you don't resolve it until you take a step away and cool off. This showed that! Hell even that little shit who tried to ruin everything, when he learned Leo loves him cause they were too scared to admit it to one another, IT MADE SENSE! Losing the one person who loves you to try to change the relationship? THAT is a TERRIBLE choice to have to make because you take a MAJOR risk! Even when Tharn and Type had their big fight, they didn't BREAK UP! Adults DO THAT! They accept they fought and they go apart for a bit to work it out internally before confronting the other person externally. Even the doctor and the cafe owner, they TALKED! This was an adult series and the way people are like "Oh this was so boring" suggests people are either immature or kids, and I DON'T fault those people for this type of reaction, but I've lived 30 years on this earth. TRUST ME, this is a VERY realistic example of a dramatic-tinged version of adult life. YES most adults aren't this dramatic, but that would be a boring TV series.

This is what ADULTS do to handle crises. It's not perfect. It's messy. The kidnapping bit was A BIT extreme. But overall, giving people chances and WORKING IT OUT rather than just immediately dumping the person you loved for SEVEN YEARS is an adult decision. Waiting is an adult decision. Us queers sick of all wishy-washy teen dramas who yearn for ADULT series can say THIS is an ADULT series that handles things in an ADULT way.

I couldn't get past episode 1 of series 1 cause it was toxic but I TRULY liked this Series 2.

Needs more depth

Omg! I bing wachted s2 in 2 days up untill ep 10 ( unfortunatly ep 11 and 12 are not available yet in the netherlands with subs????) so i will have to wait! However untill now i am lovin it!! I would have loved to have seen more of the backstory of leo and fiat i think it would have been perfect if the storyline of those too would be better explained. That leo though!! Ohh he is soo hot!
Onwards with the story i think the reasons of the fights between tharn and type could have been more serious then they were. The only good and valid reason for them to fight was the last one because of fiat.

I do hate how type hurts Tharn every freaking time when in his mind he is "solving" the problem. I really hope he will realise what a jurk he is and proposses to Tharn!!!

Btw the little chitchat between No and Tharn in ep 3 about "cutting of Type's daily necessities" was hilarious!!

I also loved and laughed soooo loud because of the little sound affects with the facial expressions through out the series!!

Love

If you haven’t been in seven year relationship or in any at all then please don’t judge them. P,New was a new director when he directed LBC so yh the director has done a good job. Maame is an excellent writer I mean look at all her works they are awesome. If you haven’t directed or written your own book or series don’t just give negative remarks when you have no set experience. Though season 1 will always be my bias I have watched it 4 times. But 2 has everything a relationship of 7 years should have unless maybe you never had a peaceful 7 years relationship then you can talk negative. I love it and if you understand romance a lot you have got to watch Tharntype season 1 and 2. There is nothing not to like

A one time watch. Mostly a drag

Only and only Last episode was worth watching. Type nailed the monk character. That alone garnered all my stars. Rest of the episodes were a drag. Wish there was a little more depth in Fiat and Leo’s story. The cutest person who made me smile in every scene was definitely Champ. P’Thorn is absolutely adorable and as savage as the first season Thorn. They practically destroyed Techno’s character. Like, where’s the No who had the best, most savage comebacks to Type’s ridiculous behaviour! And why is their nosy hostel neighbour back here? I mean I did enjoy them in the first season but in this one, it felt really forced. If you planned to get every one from the first season, why miss out on cutie Kaonahhh(Llong)!
Also, nitpicking here, but I hated the airbrushed makeup every person adorned. I really don’t mind the raw, real faces and a little messed up hair from s1. This one had straight-from-fairy-tale vibes.
I’ve watched Tharntype s1 like a zillion times. This one will have to suffice single watch time. Didn’t hate it but I guess the season 1 set the bar too high really.
