She didn't make rational decisions. I would not recommend this drama. I liked the side storyline more than the main plot. The actors did a good job, but I didn’t like the story. If you enjoy watching someone bounce between men, this might be a drama for you. The main protagonist has two nice guys that she pushes and pulls constantly. You end up liking both and hate the entire situation. It is painful to watch. I had to fast forward most of the last episodes. The drama has random character interviews (like in The Office). It was another redeeming quality/factor of the drama.

This show hit a lot of spots for me drama wise (especially that scene at the end of ep 2 like damn) but I also found it extremely problematic and hard to watch at times. I ended up flat out skipping through scenes because I just didn't care. This happened the most with scenes featuring the parents of any of the main characters. I just found them forced and boring. I ended up doing that with almost any scenes featuring Nam Ha Jin (Sung Joon) towards the end, too.  Not because of the actor but because the dialogue was cringy and boring.

Han Yeo Reum needed to make up her goddamn mind. I'm honestly glad for how it ended. I think if it had gone differently I would have given this drama a much lower rating. I'm not here for cheating on your SO stories which is essentially what this was. She cheated on Nam Ha Jin emotionally when Kang Tae Ha reappeared in her life.

For me the acting was pretty good. But I'm probably biased. I am Eric trash. I will watch anything he's in honestly. Sung Joon has improved since Flower Boy Band where I found him completely unwatchable. Jung Yoo Mi was cute and believable.

The music wasn't awful but it also wasn't great. I'd describe it as forgettable honestly. And I would never consider rewatching this drama. Maybe a scene or two but never the whole thing again.

Discovery of Romance ... is full of real feelings made into a (little obvious) story.

I have to say I REALLY ENJOYED this drama... The story made me curious episode by episode I was really wondering how it would turn out, which choices would they make, how would things go!!?
The story was clear and easy to follow. It unloaded the plot little by little, keeping you
alert and eager to know and discover~

As for the acting. I'd say DOR was an eye opener for me on Eric, which made a FANTASTIC job in his acting. His character is strong and weak at the same time... He really hit me! Sung Joon was a bit limp, compared to what he made me used to ^^ YoMi, as far as it concerns my experience, has the same kind of role which fits her well... And finally Hyun Min and Seul Gi are just *amazing* as usual !!

I STRONGLY and FIRMLY recommend this drama :3

Flawed Characters who Make Mistakes

I started this drama purely because of Eric Mun, because I know his acting is top-notch, and I'm filling time before his next drama comes out. I didn't know if I'd like this drama, due to what I saw from the mixed reviews, but as I've reached the halfway point and have not had any major complaints, I thought I'd voice my opinion based on the primary issues I've seen people voice.

1) Ha Jin not wanting to tell the truth about his past. I saw several people who commented they couldn't understand why he was so reluctant to reveal to Yeo Reum that he was an orphan, why his mother was also so against him revealing it, and why he didn't just tell Ah Rim about his real identity. From what I've read, there is actually a huge amount of stigma against adoption in Korea, so people who do adopt often are very secretive about it, thus I wasn't very surprised or bothered by this plot point because it's due to a cultural difference that I was already aware of.

2) Yeo Reum's bitchiness. Yes, she is a bitch for much of the drama, and she even admits openly to Tae Ha that she is an "evil wench". But even that I understand, because despite of how in control and calm she appears to be, she is actually an incredibly insecure individual when it comes to relationships, because of how badly her relationship with Tae Ha ended. She feels that because she had no power in her relationship with Tae Ha, she needs to have all of the power in her relationship with Ha Jin. Yeo Reum is manipulative, deceptive, and cruel because she feels that is the only way to keep Ha Jin close, and Tae Ha at arm's length.

3) The souring of Yeo Reum's relationship with Ha Jin, and her going back to Tae Ha in the end. I think this is one of those things that bothers other people, but not me. As I've watched, I get the impression that despite herself, Yeo Reum still "clicks" with Tae Ha, and she hates it because she thinks it's weakness. I also think a large part of the reason she was with Ha Jin in the first place is because he was safe and certain, but also because he was willing to be the "weak" one in the relationship. Sure, she liked him, but she definitely manipulated him to do what she wanted, and as Ha Jin points out later he's definitely the one who likes her more. The original reason for Yeo Reum and Tae Ha's break up was because of a failure on both sides to communicate (and in Tae Ha's case, to choose what was truly important), a mistake that they both recognized in hindsight. Plus, they both acknowledged that they could have saved their relationship if they had really tried. I think that's why I have no problem with them getting back together in the end. My parents broke up multiple times before they got married, even during their engagement; it's not like it doesn't happen.

Also, as I've neared the end, there were other things about Yeo Reum's and Ha Jin's relationship that were not healthy or sustainable, compared to when Tae Ha and Yeo Reum were together. Ha Jin grows more and more controlling as he feels he is losing her, to the point of trying to discourage Yeo Reum in her pursuits of her dream. Meanwhile Tae Ha pushes her and challenges her, forcing her out of her comfort zone, both when they were together and in the present when he believes that she won't choose him. For some people (myself included), that outside push to improve oneself is necessary. Ha Jin does not challenge Yeo Reum to improve herself, he wants her to stay exactly where she is. And even when he tries to learn more about her passions, it's too late and the damage is done.

So in conclusion, I like this drama a lot. It's an excellent narrative that did a good job of showing how relationships really function. They're messy, they hurt, they don't always work out the way we want or expect, and sometimes the person you need is not the one that just gives you good feelings, it's the person who pushes you to be better.

The story actually nothing new. And the female lead character got my nerves. But the way writer wrapped the storyline with very 'real dialogues' and quotable lines make this drama special and I could understand why they got big win in KBS drama awards and some other international drama festivals dan BANFF media world class festival.

The actings and chemistry are awesome whether leads or supporting characters. I must say again, Eric is out of case since he delivered his part perfectly in this series whether it comes to cute, tough, jealous, quirky or crying baby scenes.

I like the styles they use in this series. Eric Mun is totally hottie and drool worthy in that 'without suits-CEO' styles. I love all the OSTs too and all of them match with the emotions for each drama scenes. And I love how the writer combined being funny and sad in a very unique ways. I think this is the korean drama that could be called as one of the best romcom.

This is a realistic potrayal of modern love relationships. It is refreshing in showing that love is beautiful sweet and even exciting at the begininning. But relationship takes effort on both sides to keep it alive and communication of the right sort to sustain it through hard times. Thats how Yeo Reum's first love fell apart. At the time Tae Ha couldnt juggle both his work commitments and his focus on their relationship. Then something happen (which eventually gets revealed) that makes Yeo Reum to decide to end their relationship. The 2 meet again but Yeo Reum is already in a stable relationship with a nice and successful plastic surgeon.Tae Ha has not gotten over his feelings and wish to rekindle their relationship.

So far the plotline is different and sets it apart from typical k drama romances. However alot of things didnt appeal to me.

My main problem is Yeo Reum stringing along both males. At times i felt she was unfaithful and unfair to both men and to herself. So Yeo reum is not the heroine you want to root for. Im not asking for perfection in a female lead. But her selfishness makes me hard to care about her. I just feel sad for both males and that continuous limbo they are all in. Theres so much unhealthy lies (whether lie by omission or supposingly white lies). It makes me feel like realtionships are tiring and bitter. Which isnt what i would like to take out of dramas. I know love and relationship isnt all flowery all the time but the plot and the characters really move to the extreme unpleasantness. If you share my views than most probably you wish you didnt watch this drama.

I rated a. Generous 7.0/10 overall because of the acting. Eric and Sung Joon were intense and good in portrayin their character. Im ambivalent on Jung Yu Mi. To be fair it maybe because i really dislike her character in the drana i couldnt find much love for the actress.

So really before you start watching you need to ask yourself if this is your cup of tea. Else the bitter taste leaves a bad aftertaste ..

The story is a pretty simple one - nothing over-the-top or too melodramatic. It’s pretty true-to-life - relationships and people that are influenced by the little things and little actions. The story did its job effectively - it got me to love and care for the characters in the show.

Eric and Jung Yumi’s chemistry makes the drama even more watchable. The hurt from their previous broken relationship is palpable in their scenes together. I’ve never watched Eric in a drama before and I’m thoroughly impressed by his acting skills. I’m quite sure his gaze can melt the iciest of hearts and convince anyone that he is 200% infatuated with them.

Yoon Hyun Min and Kin Seul Gi deservedly steal the limelight as the cute, bickering pair of friends. I’ve watched both of them separately in previous shows and am glad to see their chemistry is so good in this show.

I also enjoyed the soundtrack - it wasn’t too in your face, like many Korean dramas tend to do. It would do its job in the background but not overshadow the dialogue and the characters.

Recommended if you’re looking for a light romance.

underrated !! you will either love it r hate it , but youcannot be indifferent about it.
it should be atleast 8.0 low rating is due to people hating certain decisions made by characters. but thats how characters are written. you may hate them but you will understand them.
it does not give relationship goals to people instead it give clear idea about what could go wrong in a relationships.
it gives a lot of Food for thought about various relationships. try it if you have time.

PLEASE WATCH

I discovered this drama because of Eric. After watching Another Miss Oh, i searched for his filmography and came across this drama. What an amazing luck because this drama is so underrated despite the amazing cast and story that it has!!! When you've been in a relationship for so long, you tend to take your partner for granted. Your priorities change, you make little to no effort for your partner, things you used to easily say and do for your partners seem to be a hassle so you no longer do it. This drama shows the aftermath of those action. When you realized what you had lost, another man has came and treat your ex like how she is supposed to be treated.

The characters are all selfish in their on way. Would give this drama a 10/10 if not for the little sister who is very annoying and also the ending is a little bit lacking but still tolerable. This drama is worth a watch (or like 100 watches especially the 8 & 9th episode because it's so heartbreaking).

Have you ever wonder what it would be like to meet your first love again. That is what we have with Discovery Of Romance.

Story: First love is always something, it always hurts that first breakup is always the hardest but what if you met again. It always great to see this done right. The story I give an 8.

Acting/Cast. I start off with Sung Joon since He my veteran of the drama. Sung Joon has great acting in every drama I've seen of his. Their is something to his acting that makes his acting so perfect. Eric I have not seen much of him (other than the first episode of Another Ha Young) but he was incredible. The two females lead did well in their roles, Jung Yu Mi I know is in the second I Need Romance (Which this is done by the same scriptwriter) but have not seen anymore out of the two of them. the Acting/Cast I give a 9.

Music: I love the song Come Back To me but other then that it. You have the slow songs that tug the heartstrings which is normal I just like the fast songs. The music I give a 9.

Rewatch/Overall: The rewatch value I give a 6.5 I feel like me rewatching this might happen someday. The Overall value I give a 7.5, very good drama recommend it.

Discovery of Romance- Just finished this drama. I watched this because of Sung Joon from I need romance 3. It's a good drama, how come I did not "discover" it sooner...the cast is great and the story line is awesome. If it wasn't for Sung Joon, I wouldn't have paid attention to this gem of a drama. Even if Sung Joon Oppa was not lead here, he did a great performance. Was not too fond of the lead guy, Eric Mun, but he was good too. Female lead was just ok.

This drama makes my heart ache. I actually skipped one episode, I can't remember which episode is that but the reason why I skipped that episode is because the girl is becoming jerk more and more. The ending made my sleepless night, and I was bothered for one week. I cried because of the ending. Anyway, if I'm going to rate it through reality, I will give it a 9. You really can't teach your heart who to love.
