"Chief Detective 1958" Climbs Back to Double-Digit Ratings
After the staggering success of Alchemy of Souls, actress Go Youn Jung is returning with another promising fantasy drama Moving. Having established a strong presence in Korean cinema through various works such as Sweet Home, Law School, Alchemy of Souls Season 2: Light and Shadow, and Hunt, Go Youn Jung now comes to portray a character different from all the other roles she played so far.
In the upcoming drama Moving, Go Youn Jung plays the role of Jang Hee Soo, a talented high school student in her third year. Being the daughter of Jang Joo Won (Ryu Seung Ryong), she inherits his exceptional regenerative powers that let her recover from injuries painlessly, and, as a result, she excels as a candidate for a prestigious physical education college. She constantly feels remorseful towards her father, who sacrifices everything for her, and never hesitates to support him.
However, Hee Soo hides a painful past, which leads her to transfer to Jungwon High School and adopt an indifferent demeanor towards her classmates.
There she meets Bong Seok (Lee Jung Ha), who also hides a supernatural power that lets him fly. And as she shares a special bond and her secret with him, she gradually builds friendships and regains her cheerful self.
Reflecting on her decision to take up the role of Hee Soo, Go Youn Jung commented, "I was ambitious". She further added, "I have a strong feeling that I can perform well, and I feel like it will be fun". She also mentioned, "Hee Soo and I share similar personalities and tones in speaking", highlighting the similarities she shares with her character.
To enhance her portrayal of her character, Go Youn Jung dedicated herself to attending an academy that trains in physical education college entrance exam to add authenticity and accurately portray the life of a physical education aspirant.
Regarding the actress's efforts, both the actor Ryu Seung Ryong and director Park In Je praised her. They said, "She is a solid and talented actress who gives her best throughout the entire production" (Ryu Seung Ryong), and "I cast her for her strong and energetic presence" (Director Park In Je), adding behind-the-scenes comments that she was well-suited for the role. This further intensifies anticipation about Go Youn Jung's performance in her portrayal of the character Hee Soo.
Moving tells the story of children with superpowers and their parents trying to protect them from being exploited by the world. The project brings together acclaimed professionals such as author Kang Full, known for the original webtoon Moving, and director Park In Je, who previously directed the second season of Kingdom. The drama also boasts a star-studded cast including, Ryu Seung Ryong, Han Hyo Joo, Zo In Sung, Cha Tae Hyun, Ryu Seung Beom, Kim Sung Kyun, Kim Hee Won, and Moon Sung Geun, rising stars Lee Jung Ha, Go Youn Jung, and Kim Do Hoon.
Moving is set to premiere on Disney+ on August 9th, with a simultaneous release of all seven episodes worldwide, followed by a weekly release of two episodes.
