one thing that really bothers me when I watch historical drama is how they sleep with the perfect  hair up-do and this is applicable t both male and female characters. I know its a bit petty issue but i have a greater appreciation for The Rise of Phoenixes because the male lead will have his long hair loose a lot of the time.  Am I the only one who is bothered by this issue?  sometimes  with this perfectly done hair styles, their movements feel a bit robotic. Please tell me I am not the only one who feels this way

Lol that's something I've noticed as well, and it's even more baffling in my opinion when they also wake up with their hair still intact!!!

I haven't noticed their movements feeling robotic, but maybe it's because those hair styles are usually very heavy, in addition of their costumes also often being bulky & uncomfortable, so they have a hard time being in perfect balance & control/act with their bodies well?

Yeah I roll my eyes at that as well. Most of the time I can ignore it but there was this one scene in "General and I" which took me out of the drama because of how perfect the hair do was in a scene where it shouldn't have been. I wouldn't say their movements are robotic but I just think it can be unrealistic sometimes. 

I still like the long hair though lol

Empress Ki was one of the first K-dramas I watched, about 3 years ago!! I enjoyed it a lot, and Nyang still remains one of my all-time favourite female characters!!!!

I am up to episode 16 of the rebel princess and so far loving it. I like the main male lead I think he suits the role very well.  Before I started watching I did quickly read the novel it was based on using google translate. I do have a question for those who have watched part of the complete show. How long were they separated after they initially got married? I seem to have missed that though I remember they mentioned 3 months. In the book its 3 years. So far from my understanding the plot of the show follows very closely to the novel but there are some slight variations.

I haven't read the book but I understand from certain viewers that the drama adaptation is reasonably faithful to the source.  As for the separation period, I understood it lasted a few months, as far as I can recall.  There are always variations here and there but nothing major, I would think.

Xiao Qi is quite a remarkable character and they cast the right actor for the role.  Enjoy the ride :)
