Everybody knows that I am not a rewatcher, but I just finished Hana Kimi for the 3rd time and I still LOVE it! This show is so great! It's such a fun ride that it's not even burdensome to rewatch. This time around I actually watched the special episode between eps 7 and 8. It made it even better because the special is actually episode 7.5. It really brought more life to Sano's and Mizuki's relationship.

Yeah, I know I wasn't a rewatcher 98 dramas ago, but now that's my ptl is dwindling down and it's been a while maybe I'll become a rewatcher.

*looks at my own PTW list* I still rewatch shows anyway; they're just that awesome. My friend watched it recently (it was her first JDrama), so she wanted to talk about Oscar's fabulousness all the time. That's how I watched the series for the third time again XD
One of the best doramas. I have no interest to watch the korean remake.
I watched the different remakes but this will always be the best. I dropped To the Beautiful You. It was just so... not Hana Kimi. They should have just claimed to have been inspired by the idea of Hana Kimi.

That's how I feel they should've did with the Korean version of Hana Yori Dango. Similar idea, way different take. And the characters developed different personalities than the original.....

I dropped To The Beautiful You within the first half hour. Couldn't feel the Hana Kimi vibe
Yeah I dropped it after Julian Kang left the scene. I just couldn't get into it then they kept promising us Kayashima, which I only watched To the Beautiful You for and nothin'. I just feel it was a waste of space of a show to be honest. I mean they shouldn't be claiming to be like Hana Kimi. It totally wasn't. I never watched Hana Yori Dango nor the remake. I might to see what it's like. XD But yeah To the Beautiful You disappointed me MORE then the Hana Kimi Taiwan version AND the Japanese remake of it. Yeah I was really disappointed by it.

Haha I didn't even make it that far xD I agree about the claims, because like I said that's how I feel about their take on Boys Over Flowers, it was similar, obviously inspired by it, but it wasn't based on it at all. Actually the same producer of BOF did To The Beautiful You so I knew right away I'd be disappointed in it :/
Hana Kimi Taiwan was actually really close to the manga (aside from the last 2-3 episodes and the cliffhanger ending), so I wasn't disappointed in it. The Japanese remake I only watched about 15 minutes LOL. I couldn't make it through that one either.
Yeah the Japanese remake just...I dunno. it's like it took out all the joy that the original had. XD It was just so dark and dreary all the time. I admit I only watched for Kayashima. XD I liekd the Taiwan version, I just didn't like what they did to Kayashima in that one but otherwise it was pretty good. *nods* To the Beautiful You was just so disappointing. Julian Kang was the only good thing for me. XD

Is the remake really that bad? I wanted to watch it, even if I know it probably won't live up to the original, but I've seen so many negative opinions about it...
The remake is a darker version of Hana Kimi. I think that's why it's negative. If you don't mind a kind of less...sparkly Hana Kimi then you won't mind it. I just didn't like it because it made all the characters seem lifeless and as said it was definitely darker than the original. You have to watch it for yourself though. ^^
I loved To The Beautiful You but only because I didn't take it as Hana Kimi at all. Hana Kimi has a special place in my heart and it's daebak. It can never be compared to TTBY. Besides TTBY was only loosely based on it, in fact it resembled You're Beautiful a lot more than it resembled Hana Kimi. That's why I wasn't disappointed by it.
