Completed dramas 2018
-
1. You're My Destiny
Thai Drama - 2017, 17 episodes
I prefer other versions this one was combination of the previous two and didn't add to the story in any way.
-
2. I'm Not a Robot
Korean Drama - 2017, 32 episodes
Easy to watch, perfect for relaxing after a long and stressful day.
-
3. Temperature of Love
Korean Drama - 2017, 40 episodes
I don't know how to rate this.
We had so many interesting side characters that never gotten their chance to shine. The story focused on the main couple to the point it became dreadfully boring. The couple I was cheering for the most didn't remain together. It was total fiasco.. There's no other way to put it.
-
4. Just Between Lovers
Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes
I loved everything about this drama. It was truly amazing.
-
5. Kimi wa Petto
Japanese Drama - 2017, 16 episodes
It was sweet but just a bit too sweet for my taste. At some point Takeshi behaved as if he was her child, or so it seemed to me. He became too needy and way too innocent. I'm not even sure I should compare it to the original, this seemed like totally different drama. Characters were changed drastically.. I believe it was because they wanted to make them more appealing. I'm not saying I regret watching it, I still think that this is interesting concept. In the end everyone needs someone to rely on. However remake made this story loose it's depth. In the end they made it seems as if this type of relationship could work with everyone. :/
-
6. Kahogo no Kahoko
Japanese Drama - 2017, 10 episodes
This had lot of potential. So what happened?! They tried to deal with too many problems at the same time, which was the reason many things remained unresolved.
I don't understand why was the romance main focus here. Also marriage was such a rash decision. You can be family-oriented and still have other interests in life. I just feel like she didn't work hard enough to build herself.
And what was Kahoko's major? That's one of the many mysteries this drama didn't reveal, or this fact slipped my mind.
-
7. Go Back Couple
Korean Drama - 2017, 12 episodes
-
8. Black
Korean Drama - 2017, 18 episodes
-
9. Totsuzen Desu ga, Ashita Kekkon Shimasu
Japanese Drama - 2017, 9 episodes
Cute but other than that it doesn't have much to go in its favor.
-
10. Wednesday 3:30 PM
Korean Drama - 2017, 15 episodes
It was short and cute, however no matter how handsome Hong Bin that doesn't change the fact that he can't act.
[No matter how you look at it, it's crappy acting. It matches today's trend perfectly] Shin Se Gi - Kill me Heal me
-
11. Money Flower
Korean Drama - 2017, 24 episodes
Was it just me that felt like connecting the dots was too easy, considering this was revenge drama?!
It's save to say that Jang Hyuk's performance is the best thing about it. Creativity and writing itself were average. Supposedly this drama was about greed and fighting over power but the person that pulled all the strings was Pil Joo, his opponents were so bellow his level it was ridiculous. He had to deal with spoiled rich kids, cougar mom and misbehaving grandpa. Such a waste of his effort and intelligence.
Another thing I couldn't understand, if they presented us with such a cliché love connection between main characters why would they give them such closure?!
-
12. Golden Empire
Korean Drama - 2013, 24 episodes
This is what you call excellent drama with a lot of twists. I know I said that I'd compare this with Money Flower but I can tell you this instant that Golden Empire is way better. In terms of writing especially, characters are way more complex. I found FL's character especially interesting.
Suspense level is high, you can never tell who will take whose side. Or what are their true intentions. Unlike in Money Flower were we knew all the info and just waited till it reaches climax (at least that's how I felt).
Another thing I love is that they didn't ruin this drama with unnecessary love lines. Even if this is debatable.. I would like to discuss this with someone who has already seen this drama, so if you feel like it I'm down for it.
GE and Punch were written by the same writer. Those who has seen Punch should know what to expect in terms of quality. Which means there are no cliches, dialogue is simply amazing.
I think actors did a really good job too. So in the end everyone contributed in their own way (like it should be) and made this drama great. Go Soo's performance made me look up some of his other works, that's the main reason I picked up Piano.
-
13. The Cupids Series: Kammathep Jum Laeng
Thai Drama - 2017, 7 episodes
Started off good, but their bickering became boring after a while.
-
14. Where the Lost Ones Go
Chinese Drama - 2017, 24 episodes
It's about first love, its durability and the ways it can change someone. It was interesting to watch them mature and figure out bit by bit their past mistakes.
Main couple made me rate this lower than I originally planed to. I didn't expect this to be so melodramatic. However those are my only complains. All the other couples were definitely worth watching. Their struggles were relatable. Friendship was another plus. I'd say that this gives you something to think about, I was constantly wondering about what would I've done in that situation. That's the beauty of it.
Osts were great, however I wish I could find more of the songs they used on youtube.
Visually this drama was well done. Writing and acting were good too, which surprised me to be fair. I found it on youtube and started watching with zero expectations. (Sometimes I think that that's the key, because if you give some drama too much credit you might get disappointed real quick)
-
15. A Love So Beautiful
Chinese Drama - 2017, 23 episodes
Coming of age drama that manages to be close to home and interesting enough to keep us watching for more.
-
16. Naree Rissaya
Thai Drama - 2016, 33 episodes
This was heavy. I cried so much because of Saiparn. I've genuinely hoped things would get better for her in the second half of the drama, but she just suffered all the way till the end. The only male character I liked in this drama was Saiparn's brother Narin. He was sweet and caring. And if he wasn't her brother I would have cheered for him.
I love melos but this was too much even for me.
-
17. Witch's Court
Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes
Great start but I lost interest in the second half.
-
18. Because of Meeting You
Chinese Drama - 2017, 56 episodes
-
19. Piano
Korean Drama - 2001, 16 episodes
-
20. Reply 1988
Korean Drama - 2015, 20 episodes
I can see why some were disappointed with the way this ended. I wish we got to see how is everyone doing in the present. Have they lost contact, after going separate ways? What actually happened? Even so I still loved every minute of it, it’s close to perfect in my eyes. I can see myself re-watching this in a few years.
Goodbye Sangmundong~
(for now)
-
21. A Korean Odyssey
Korean Drama - 2017, 20 episodes
Unsatisfying ending. meeh >_<
-
22. O-Negative
Thai Drama - 2016, 26 episodes
+1 for acting
+1 for friendship even though it was tinted by unnecessary, overly dramatic romance between, well EVERYONE, this quickly turned into love pentagon??
+1 for bts (they were hilarious I was excited to watch them at the end of each episode)
+1 for the fact that they actually had art classes. They weren't just smudging the canvas like art academy students in dramas Kahogo no Kahoko and Where The Lost Ones Go. Those two dramas made me think I could become a painter too. :/
To conclude 4 is me being generous.
-
23. Dal Ja's Spring
Korean Drama - 2007, 22 episodes
This is noona romance and it has Min Ki. At first I thought that I couldn’t possibly ask for more. But it was boring.. Main couple was likable, however chemistry was there occasionally almost like they could switch it on and off. It was strange experience.
There were one or two characters except main leads that were worth watching. I must admit that I had to skip many scenes because I was either unimpressed or bored or both..
I’m fan of the genre but this was a flop. Maybe I should re-watch this, perhaps I just wasn’t in the mood. :|
-
24. Jimi ni Sugoi! Koetsu Garu Kono Etsuko
Japanese Drama - 2016, 10 episodes
I can describe this in two words: fun & enjoyable
Romance isn’t listed among genres which doesn’t mean it doesn't exist. Was it necessary? No, but I think that romance was there just to entice more people to watch it.
-
25. The Spring Day of My Life
Korean Drama - 2014, 16 episodes
I liked the story about Stepanette & Shepard and the way it was incorporated in the plot. Drama itself is hardcore melo so keep that in mind.
-
26. Radio Romance
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
I'm surprised to see how many of you loved it. I feel like the odd one. (again)
I can't find any solid reason to rate this above 3.5.
- What's with that messy writing?
- Where's the plot? I've only seen multiple cliches and something that seemed like a decent plot idea, but it wasn't properly developed.
- Is there any reason why are the characters so poorly done??
- Why was acting so bad? Especially Yoon Doo Joon, he was the worst. I'm not sure if he couldn't convey emotions properly or was he told to act the way he did?! No matter what the case was, it was horrible.
- And lastly, was there anything touching about it? No, the only thing that this drama touched was rock bottom.
-
27. Asuko March!
Japanese Drama - 2011, 9 episodes
Actually loved this. Great friendship drama.
-
28. Kuragehime
Japanese Drama - 2018, 10 episodes
I like the fact that Seto Koji was given the role of Koibuchi, but apart from him I'm not impressed with other cast members. On the other hand I only had problem with actor who portrayed Koibuchi in the movie version..
Also I've completed manga recently, and I'm not crazy about that ending. nor I'm overly impressed with the way this was wrapped up.
-
29. Defendant
Korean Drama - 2017, 18 episodes
-
30. Cheewit Puer Kah Huajai Puer Tur
Thai Drama - 2017, 18 episodes
If you can't think of a way to end a drama just kill off as many characters as you can. That way you don't have to worry about their closure. Also what's with that latin soap opera type of ending?! It was too much.. I can't recommend this.
-
31. 20th Century Boy and Girl
Korean Drama - 2017, 32 episodes
Cute but forgettable.
-
32. Dear My Friends
Korean Drama - 2016, 16 episodes
Honestly, everyone should watch this! It's difficult to put into words how amazing this drama is. And I bet it only gets better each time you watch it, which I plan to do at some point.
-
33. Lion Pride
Taiwanese Drama - 2017, 16 episodes
I had some minor issues with the way it ended but I liked it overall. ^^ Hopefully I'll get to see main cast again in another drama, they were great. Especially Lawrence (Bufan)
-
34. Todome no Kiss
Japanese Drama - 2018, 10 episodes
Watched it over the weekend, it was enjoyable. Twists were unexpectedly good, some better than the others but interesting all together.
-
35. Tempted
Korean Drama - 2018, 32 episodes
Not gonna lie this was far from what I've expected and I mean it in a bad way. I liked the idea of it, but it was poorly executed. Oddly enough I still had the urge to finish it. There are tons of bad dramas that you just want to drop like a hot potato and this wasn't quite like it.
+ Woo Do Hwan is really handsome so that was partially where the motivation to complete this came from but who can blame me?!
I don't think that this was the worst drama ever made, but it certainly lacked at some aspects. I wish they made it more intriguing, but I get that they had to tone down everything because of few reasons:
1. Well, it's K-drama after all
2. Actors age
3. Target audience were girls in their early twenties (I suppose)
If you're hoping to relive what you felt watching movie Cruel Intentions that won't happen.
-
36. Rich Man
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
Hell to the no.
-
37. Moonshine and Valentine
Chinese Drama - 2018, 25 episodes
This needs second season I need to know what will happen to Kuan Yong and Xiu Xian..
Another thing I'd like to say: Leo Li is really handsome!!
Main couple was alright, chemistry was decent.
-
38. Uchi no Otto wa Shigoto ga Dekinai
Japanese Drama - 2017, 10 episodes
Ryo <3
-
39. Kuzu no Honkai
Japanese Drama - 2017, 12 episodes
I thought this would be more than just two high school students making out.. At first it was okay but then it became too repetitive. They focused more on the physical aspect of a relationship rather than to healing through contact with another person.
I don't think that drama is completely bad, at least both of them understood that they can't change others, Mugi found out the hard way he can't influence Akane's choices. That's what I like, the fact that she hasn't gone through some unrealistic change of heart in the end. She just found someone who could accept her the way she is. -
40. Something in the Rain
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
It would've been just fine even without all drama towards the end.
I loved osts, and the overall feel to it. As a noona romance fan, I'm so glad they provided us with a nice quality drama. I miss the good old times when you could find noona romances easily. T.T Which is probably why I appreciated it more.
-
41. Panthakan Rak
Thai Drama - 2018, 14 episodes
Pros:
leads were cute beyond any doubt, loved them both
chemistry was nice
first half was really interesting
Cons:
male lead was extremely childish
plot was all over the place, at least in the second half
ending was like: shoot me dead, this is so dumb I'd rather be dead than having to digest that; think soap operas and dramatic last minute revelations
Rating this is hard because I really liked it at first, but romance wasn't properly developed. What seemed like a sweet and refreshing drama turned into complete mess. But I'm still not over Aritit's visuals so I'm slightly biased when it comes to this drama.
-
42. About Time
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
To sum it up:
A girl sings a lot, guy shares his remaining time with her, the only interesting side-character dies. (I was inspired by the author of Rapid-Fire K-drama reviews.)
Can Lee Do Ha, grab my wrist and give me my time back? Please. I swear that I'll use it wisely this time around.
-
43. Wok of Love
Korean Drama - 2018, 38 episodes
High on the comedy, low on the actual plot.
-
44. The Undateables
Korean Drama - 2018, 32 episodes
It was actually decent. There were some overly dramatic plot sequences:
-bet
-agreement ML has with his step-mother (I just found the whole "you're not different than your father" thing ridiculous)
Other than that I was pretty okay with plot. However drama itself is nothing out of ordinary. it fits perfectly into the rom-com category and that's it.
-
45. Come and Hug Me
Korean Drama - 2018, 32 episodes
-
46. Miss Hammurabi
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
Amazing in terms of writing, however my frustration with Go Ah Ra really got the best of me and I couldn't fully enjoy it. And I'm extremely bummed about it. Not only that I couldn't stand her as an actress I even disliked her character because of her overacting. Myungsoo (L) was slightly better and in compare to GAR he seemed like a pro actor. Whoever picked out the cast has done a poor job. (My opinion only, don't shoot)
-
47. Goodbye to Goodbye
Korean Drama - 2018, 40 episodes
Definitely an interesting drama. As a woman I could definitely relate to female lead characters. We still live in a society where woman are looked down upon. And they serve us with bunch of half-hearted excuses as to why we should just accept the situation. I'm aware of the fact that Seo Young Hee might seem petty, she's trapped in this hell like marriage for years, she clearly doesn't love her husband anymore but she's not willing to divorce him. Obviously it would've been easier for her to just set herself free, but she chooses not to. She deliberately kept prolonging her suffering, and I'm sure in her mind she thought she was tormenting her husband. Reality was that toxic marriage got the best of her and she couldn't face herself anymore nor other people. As a result she completely distanced herself from the world. And then she meets Jung Hyo and her world starts to change bit by bit. On the other hand Jung Hyo has her own problems, she's young and being a mother is not an easy job. Faced down with difficulties such as prejudice and even her own mental state was definitely challenging.
It was really fascinating to watch relationships between all these women develop. I think fans of Almodovar's work would know how to appreciate this drama. I know I did~
-
48. What's Wrong with Secretary Kim
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
This is one of those overly hyped dramas. It's gonna be either hit or miss. What I didn't like is ML's character. I know that he was supposed to be "clueless" and "funny" but to me he was just childish.
It was supposed to be a romantic comedy with a touch of mystery but since I've watched Kill Me Heal Me which had the similar concept I can't say that I find this to be anywhere near.
-
49. Save Me
Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes
Even now when I think about the train scene it gives me chills. *hide carefully, I can see your hair strands* yikes! That's definitely the most memorable scene, in my opinion.
The only character I had problem is Sang Hwan because his wishy-washy personality. He tried to be good but failed miserably on more than one occasion. Every other character was written with much more precision and thought.
What I liked about the drama: bond between the characters, creativity in terms of the plot, how scenery depicted the dark tone of the drama. When all these things come together and on top of that acting is brilliant we get to truly enjoy the experience.
-
50. Avengers Social Club
Korean Drama - 2017, 12 episodes
This is an interesting take on revenge genre. Usually dramas that evolve around vengeance have a heavy sub-tone. Personally that's what I like, but I can see why some would be wary of the genre.
ASC is nothing like a standard melodramatic, revenge drama. It's main focus are connections between characters and overcoming the obstacles with a helping hand of a friend. So there's no "hero against the world" mentality. Which makes it almost a perfect blend of drama and comedy.
-
51. 100 Days My Prince
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
The rating is severely affected by my obsession over Kyungsoo, so be aware.
Another drama that fits in the "hit or miss" category. Actual plot is decent, with a minor issues. The flow of the story is definitely not the most gripping one, but characters make up for it. (most of them) *well most of the main ones* Okay, I think Kyungsoo himself is enough to make up for a lot of plot holes. (Just a personal opinion)
My biggest issue with this drama were political shenanigans going on in the palace. Needless to say that they bore me to death, on top of there were many filler characters. I thought main couple was good enough to redeem this drama. One might disagree.
-
52. Familiar Wife
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
One of the biggest flops of 2018.
I couldn't relate to any of the characters especially not to ML. His actions were questionable, the logic behind them was vague to non-existent. I don't know what upsets me more his selfish nature or the fact that he never truly understood his wrongdoing. I feel like Joo Hyuk got more chances than he deserved. All together it felt like Woo Jin was always settling and never choosing her own path.
-
53. Let's Eat Season 3
Korean Drama - 2018, 14 episodes
-
54. Are You Human Too?
Korean Drama - 2018, 36 episodes
-
55. Lovely Horribly
Korean Drama - 2018, 32 episodes
Horribly, horribly~
-
56. A Poem a Day
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
-
57. Game Sanaeha
Thai Drama - 2018, 14 episodes
-
58. Bloody Romance
Chinese Drama - 2018, 36 episodes
-
59. Where Stars Land
Korean Drama - 2018, 32 episodes
One word can describe this drama: pretentious.
Whole drama has this melancholic feel to it and I would've enjoyed it if it wasn't overpowering. I get what writer and director tried to do but what they eventually created was a drama without substance. Meaningful quotes are fine, but not good enough on their own. This wasn't a project for a poetry night it was supposed to be a drama with a solid story. On that base I can rate it higher.
I couldn't feel anything while watching, the connection was missing. Characters also felt very distant and dull. Probably because the main focus wasn't on them like it should've been. It's a shame because monologues were great.
-
60. The Smile Has Left Your Eyes
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
For a melodrama fan this drama ticks all the boxes, however ending is pointless.
-
61. The Beauty Inside
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
The movie was at least 10 times better. Perhaps this plot wasn't meant to be developed into drama.
-
62. Devilish Joy
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
Process of writing this drama went something like:
*start with most basic plot* *add every cliche you can think of* *add unnecessary characters* This drama reeks of 00s, even though first two episodes tend to fool you.
