Greeaaat another BL that romanticizes rape (hate that this trope is so common since it gives the genre a bad rap). Stans will stan I guess, but as someone who represents victims of sexual abuse in court, the plot (well, the “falling in love with your rapist and abuser because he’s so, so sorry and actually does love you, even though rape is about power and not love” part) makes me sick to my stomach. People who read it and think romance....I don’t know, man.
“The rapist can't end up with his victim unless he does something to prove his love right?“ <— Pretty sure Lazy Subber said this ironically based on the rest of the post and how obviously twisted this logic is haha but I’m hoping there won’t be many cries of “OTP!” when this comes out.
I wish the authors/directors/screenwriters would stop pushing this violent, dangerous, misinformed narrative, because it’s rarely if ever shown the way it should be (i.e., as a trauma and not as a love story). :/
*Also, I apologize if I come off as preachy—just getting the frustration out.
I can't wait to see very objective people giving 10s only once the skinship will start lol(I'm not kidding, it…
Tea! Haha for real though, you’re right! I generally enjoy BLs but find the shows (especially Thai) tend to be very overrated on here, and it seems to have gotten more so in the past year or so. It’s refreshing to hear similar sentiments lol
Just showed up on Viki! I immediately started rewatching it! Been waiting for it to show up on a legal site for…
Yessss!! I just saw it too and am so excited! I can finally finish it after starting it on the now-defunct DramaFever haha (Also I love your profile pic ^^)
Ooh yes I have the Ten Count volumes and I think I remember seeing something about it being adapted somewhere, now that you mention it. That should be interesting! And yes, anime is always welcome; ahhhh I’m just so happy about Saezuru it almost makes up for the English publisher slacking off on it!
I think Junjou is still being published in other countries? It was published in the US under a TokyoPop imprint, but when TP shut down in US, so did the imprint :(. And I’ve noticed too that some volumes will be so much more expensive than others in the same series. Crazy!
And no, I didn’t know about Saezuru being released, so thanK you for the heads up! I’ll keep an eye out for it.
Ughh yeah June, 801 Media, and DMP are terrible when it comes to availability and consistency. There are several titles I’ve started and loved, but then the company apparently stops publishing (even though it’s ongoing in Japan). It’s such a disappointment. I pretty much only buy one shots from them now bc I never know if they’ll continue a series or not. The older, out-of-print tiles can be insanely expensive over here too. :(
But yeah, SuBLime has a few upcoming titles that look good. I wish they’d revive some old favorites (so happy they’re doing the Viewfinder series, but I’m still hoping—in vain—that they’ll do Junjou Romantica, and I wish they’d take over Twittering Birds Never Fly from June) but with how scarce BL/yaoi titles seem to be outside of Japan, I’m just hoping they continue to stay in business so that I can get something haha.
Net Comics publishes some Korean BL manhwa if you’re interested and didn’t know. :)
Aww man that sucks that they’re so expensive over there! SuBLime is the only consistent publisher of BLs in the US, and carry a lot of good titles, but I do wish the market was bigger to support releasing more titles (even from different companies).
Also, I just realized that I was thinking of the Seven Days series, which was previously published by one company and then re-licensed by SuBLime, which may somehow be why I got confused? Lmao I really have no idea what I was thinking—too many titles in my head I guess!
Dunno' if you're a fan of Mizushiro Setona's amazing two-volume story "The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese" and…
Yeah I’ll have to check that out! Although I love the two I mentioned, they aren’t my most favorite (I think I was speaking generally since it seems like a lot of BL mangas and novels are being adapted into dramas and films this year haha).
Oh yes, I always support the author and publisher by purchasing print (or digital) copies where they’re available, which is why I listed that info first (I was lucky to get this in print when it was first published in the US—I didn’t know it’s only digital now, so that’s interesting to know!). I wasn’t sure if OP meant scanlation, which is why I put that second and didn’t try to find something to link. ^^
Does anyone know how many episodes? And is it only one character?
According to Lazy Subber, so far there is only one episode but they may make more if the feedback is good, so please watch from official link (posted above). And there is more than one character :)
From Lazy Subber: “It's only a small production house, so please! Watch from the official upload. IF THE FEEDBACK IS GOOD THEY WILL MAKE MORE EPISODES. “
Well ep 2 was almost 2 minutes shorter than ep 1 lolIt's not much but since the eps are so short I feel like 2…
Haha thank you, you as well!
Aww man, you’re right, those two minutes do make a difference! Such a shame; I think Taiwan is on the high end when it comes to BL quality, and this story line is interesting, so it’s a bummer the episodes are so short. Oh well, guess something is better than nothing....
Well it’s been said below but these episodes are way too short! T_T (assuming they’ll all be the same length). It looks promising though so I’m eagerly awaiting the next episode.
