This is a big NO for me. I am not going to waste the precious hours of my life watching this utterly absurd tragedy…
I would not have minded watching it for Cheng Yi. However, I can not stand the female lead’s character; let alone her son/juvenile bratty emperor, later in the storyline.
I wanted to watch the Promise of Chang'An, but I couldn't even get through a short trailer. Sifeng and Madam Dongfang?Sorry,…
This is a big NO for me.
I am not going to waste the precious hours of my life watching this utterly absurd tragedy like I did for Royal Nirvana and Goodbye My Princess.
At least in Love and Redemption, the female lead’s character was very much lovable in their 9th lifetime. However in this tragedy of a drama, the female lead’s character is way too self-centered. I disliked her from the start.
Poor Cheng Yi... Enough misery with his characters, for one year:(
but they later explained it tho, that was because all his previous wives are spies so that battle probably happen…
Well, I hope his character gets more responsive down the line.
So far, there is nothing really interesting about his character. As you said, it could be bad directing or his acting skills are not really that polished yet.

Lol A Grandiose Introduction for a very stale character.
I have never watched Meteor Garden because the whole Boys Over Flower’s genre has never been my cup of tea. Is this actor, Caesar Wu, always that vapid?

I really loved Fights Break Sphere season 1 with Leo Wu and Baron Chen. I very much enjoyed their banters. However, Leo will not come back for season 2... Bummer...
2 years ago, there were rumors that Liu Haoran was recommended by Leo to replace him in season 2. I wonder if this replacement is still on the table?
My main issue with this drama is the sound. The background musics are so loud that it is impossible to hear the characters’ voices.
So far, I do like the female lead as I have liked her in previous projects. Her character is not as annoying as most asian female leads’ characters usually are. As for the male lead, I am reserving my judgment about his character, for now.
As of episode 1, the most amusing thing for me was “the out of context battle” on her way to meet her husband. Out of nowhere, the writer just put a battle... Just to introduce the general... Okay...
After unenthusiastically reaching episode 7, I am just about to drop this. This Chinese version is a let down compared to the Korean version. - The female lead’s character is only about money which is a complete turn-off for me. There is nothing intellectual about her or wanting to be one. Her mother is rather strange. - The male lead’s character is soooo boring and stale. He doesn’t get enough screen time for the audience to develop any sort of attachment to his character. - Senior “Love triangle” is rude as hell and belligerent in general. - Senior “Fourth in the group” is certainly not as interesting as his counterpart from the Korean version. - All the school officials seem to be dirty and corrupted. - Most of all, the comedy lines and banters are not that funny.
Let’s be straight.I am the one who said that Fair Xing, is mimicking Tan Songyun aka Seven’s trademarked persona. In…
Oh me as well... I am ok with not agreeing and I am happy to do so.
As for the male lead, I have to admit this is the least rigid that I ever seen him. He actually has some expressions on his face in this drama. He is actually responsive for once.
Finished the drama just there and absolutely loved it. I usually tend to avoid historical costume cdrama because…
Lost Love in Times - Clear and intelligent storyline - Strong ML and astute FL - Badass fighters - Mesmerizing choreography fighting sequences - Adorable and loyal younger brother - Plenty of magic - Amazing CGIs - Hardly any annoying characters - Perfect entering OST (Because Of You by William Chan) What is not to love...

So yes, Promise of Chang'An is a BIG NO for me.

The same great cast is back for season 2!!!
I was praying that it does not become a disaster as Ever Night season 2.
To me, this one had too many cooks in the kitchen... with a lot of old Korean songs.
My favorite remains Prison Playbook.

Thanks for the info.
This is the first time that I am watching him in a drama.

But the extravagant introduction of the general. Lol

This drama is the definition of a throwback.
It is back to the 80s and the 90s when the Chinese martial arts dramas were awkward and iridescent.
What I can’t figure out...
Was it produced intentionally that way?
Or
Was it because of a lack of budget for the production?
Fyi:
The CGIs are out of this world in this drama.
No... They literally are no longer part of this world. We no longer make them that way...
Lol
I am watching this like I was watching a relic from the past. I threw any type of modern upgrades out of the window...

A gift that keeps on giving...
One of the youngest actor around but with a truckload of experience and expertise.
I can’t wait to watch his performance in “The Long Ballad”
Fyi: His performance in “Cross Fire” was downright inspiring and riveting.
If there was a rating higher than 10, that is the number that I would have rated it.
He looks so unaware...
He might just be too humble.
