The major criticisms isn't all about the drama itself. I agree that the drama did start out well until episode…
It might be cruel to say but her unnecessary character did not die soon enough. The title is Legend of Awakening; however, that awakening took so damn long (please, pardon my French). I thought if she dies mid-way or three-quarters of the way; that would be enough motivation for Lu Ping to have his six powers awaken... but well, we know what happened...
I am at episode 40 and I can no longer fight for this drama. The writing went from: - Average - Disappointing - What the HELL!!! There were lines that did not even make any sense. Some of the characters’ reactions to some tragic situations were just baffling...
*What I loved about this Wuxia drama were the entering and the ending OSTs and the actress, Wang Jia Ning, who played Chu Min’s character. She showed so much complexities in her acting. It is regrettable that I have not noticed her before. *As for Arthur Chen... Well, I just have to wait for Immortality. This one was not it.
Can you please explain what really happen and why he cant remember .. his he the demon investigating himself ?
Ever Night 2 had great potentials too. But we all have witnessed of what happened. If it is going to be the same usual Chinese sequel scenario, they should just stop right there.
Well, that was a twist. I’m okay with that ending even though it sort of leaves us wondering about that new…
To my knowledge, I don’t think that I ever watched a Chinese sequel that was well made. The almost exception that I can think of is Nirvana In Fire season 2. Although it was not a masterpiece as the 1st season was.
Anyone knows where I can find the entire series of Insects Awaken with English subs? I have been looking everywhere; however, I could not find one with English subs.
Exactly what I am thinking. Where is that self respect and that mighty honor of a seasoned military man or a military…
Oh goodness, you just realize that? That is mostly why the poor kid has been getting so much hate from those biased lunatics. It is not so much about his acting skills but more because of his privileged background. Those lunatics are assuming that he is getting all these spotlights because of his mother (a well known actress) and of his father (a well known producer).
Don’t get me wrong; AC has probably gotten it easier than most young actors. Well, some do and some don’t. C’est la vie... However, personally I think the kid has great potentials and has already robust basics; he just need to polish and refine them. *Come to think of it... Did AC decide to do Legend of Awakening; in order, to subside those hateful prejudices about him?

One would think with a family of experts from the film industry, one of them would have better directed him or would have nudged him toward better worthwhile projects... Aye........

Let me rectify that last comment. “Sparrow season 2 aka Awakening of Insects” was aired last year. Me being a ding-dong, completely missed that release.
Hemmm. Hemmm. Hemmm. I love a good mid-century Chinese spy drama. Just like I was immersed in “Sparrow;” I got hooked from the very first episode of “Autumn Cicada.” So far, the production is beautifully done and the storyline is very creative. The internal monologue, which is a known trademark of the producer, Zhong Conghai; is consciously used in this spy drama as it was in “Sparrow.” As always, Allen Ren with his enigmatic looks is a perfect candidate for the 1st male lead role.
On a side note: For all the spy drama’s fans out there; “Sparrow” season 2 has begun filming with Zhang Ruoyun and Wang Ou as main leads. And that is what I call - A Delicious Surprise....
"I was not able to finish Ever Night because of his acting" WHAT? He was the perfect ML for that drama... the…
As a huge fan of Ever Night 1; i am not sure which one is more upsetting to me... Him loosing Ever Night 2 or him making Legend of Awakening.
The storyline in LOA is good and simple, maybe a tad stupid at times. The cast is good; well for the most parts. The directing is not stellar but passable. The production is average. Both OSTs are very addicting. What is draining the drama dry is the uncomfortable romance between the 2 main leads.
You are asking for kiss...
That was a huge mistake.

Lately, all the Chinese sequels have been so disappointing...
He was like a big and adorable goof-ball with martial art skills.

I think they did an awful PR on this drama.
Shame.
