Hmm... is this good? I wanna see this for Arthur, but I don't know about Cheng Xiao yet since this is her first…
It is good.
The story is really engaging. The cast is really likable. The overall texture is very bande dessinée (BD); I think it was done intentionally. I find it different, interesting and outside-of-the-box so to speak.
As most viewers, I came for Arthur Cheng; however, I found 2 new favorites - Deng Enxi and Jerry Yu. Their characters are so adorable.
As for the FL, it is easy to ignore her.

Ahhhh She was a gymnast... Now I that explains why she looks short and stocky. She has a mesomorph body type.
I was not referring to her lines’ delivery but her entire performance delivery. It is extremely placid.
As for the voice dubbed, I never take them into account in regard to Chinese acting performance. With the multitude of Chinese dialects; it does make sense of the usage of standard Mandarin in voice dubbings.
I cannot vouch for Deng En Xi or the rest of the cast; however, from what I remember Arthur Chen does not use a voice dubbed since he is classically Mandarin trained.

Acrobat, gymnast, traditional Chinese dancer or whatnot... She has the right body type for them. A mesomorph body type.
As for her acting, she needs a lot more training. Obviously, 2 weeks were not enough. Her form and facial features are too rigid. Her delivery is extremely placid. And I concur with you, her wardrobe and hairstyle did not do her justice at all.
One thing that I observed with the film industry; there are 2 types of rookies. Ones who are genuinely talented from the get go. And ones who learn their craft over time to achieve deserving success. She might be part of the latter.

Yes. If she had talent, it would have been easier to forgive....
I think I can understand why the viewers are getting pissed.
This year along, beside Song Zuer and Na Na Ouyang; Cheng Xiao is the third rookie who has gotten an undeserved female lead role. These 3 should be cultivating, nurturing and most of all getting trained in acting before playing any lead roles.
Don’t get me wrong; there are many natural and genuine talented rookies out there like, Xu Kai, Arthur Chen, Wayne Song, Wang Yibo, Chen Xing Xu, Karry Wang, Rachel Wang... among many...
However, Cheng Xiao is not one of them. She might be a good musical entertainer as her fanbase repeatedly pointed out (I will take their words for it) but not yet an actress.

Yes. She does have the right body type for gymnastics but not really pleasing for the silver screen.

Deng En Xi is very likable; she reminds me of Tan Song Yun. I am keeping my eyes on her. She has great potentials.
Arthur Chen is always getting the best actresses to play his family (biological blood related or not...)
Now, if we could get him the right actress like, Rachel Wang, to play his female counterpart, that would be just peachy...

Don’t let his grandiose/privileged background and his good looks fool you...
This young man can act.
That is what I call INNER TALENT. Very rarely, we get to witness talented young actors like Arthur Chen who are simply borne with IT...

Also, Deng En Xi, the young actress who plays his little sister is only 15 years old? 15 years old?For real...
So young and so captivating. Wow... This one is also going far...
Apart the FL, I am definitely enjoying the cast.

No. The story is really good. I am at episode 15 and at this point, I really don’t mind that Cheng Xiao is playing…
Seriously, I thought I wrote YES.
And indeed, I am at episode 15 right after Lu Ping started to suspect that his mentor might have betrayed him.

In a way, I kind of piety her. The whole production crew seemed to have been out to get her.
Her entire wardrobe for the drama does not do her justice. She already does not have a long neck but they dressed her in high collar dresses. She looks like a torso and a head without a neck - not attractive at all. Also she has unusually larger bosoms than most (not sure if they are real or not); her wardrobe accentuated them too much and not in a good way. Slightly inappropriate for that kind of setting. Lastly, why they gave her that matriarch, old woman hairstyle?
That is why I piety her. Beside her obvious lack of acting training, it feels like they went out of their way to make her unattractive.

I had the exact thought. She should have been the main female lead in this. First, her body is much more fluid…
True.
They both were filmed in 2018 - 2019. Well, we cannot always have the best of both worlds...
Hopefully, they will both have a project together. They really complement each other very well.

No. The story is really good. I am at episode 15 and at this point, I really don’t mind that Cheng Xiao is playing the female lead anymore. The rest of the cast is so likable that it is easy to ignore her rigid acting. My favorite characters are Su Tang and Mo Lin; they both are just so adorable and funny.

By episode 12 ...little bit improvement in cheng xiao. But emoting love scene is what gona make or break her acting…
I had the exact thought. She should have been the main female lead in this. First, her body is much more fluid and more suitable for choreographic fighting sequences. Second, with Rachel Wang‘s ever so expressive eyes and Arthur Chen’s smug demeanor; they could have portrayed a more powerful power-couple.

so far i have only watched 2 episodes but I dont think its that bad in terms of storyline, will see how it develops…
These days, those mediocre actresses get cast for lead roles because of their popularities from their fanbase.
Pure and genuine talent is becoming a rarity in the film industry... Very Sad...
