No surprise to me that they toned down the mother's crimes.
I just love your user ID!

It's Just One Time Watch Drama. It will give you the vibes of Desecdents of the Sun. Chemistry between leads is…
I'm not sure if you'll remember but does it take a while for the leads to become a (real) couple? I'm on ep 10 now when they're showing the FL and her ex's past as teenagers, after the ML has just left to go battle the floods. At the current pace of their relationship progression they should become a couple soon.

Does the drama throw in unnecessary tropes to drag it out and delay that from happening?

coming here to see the two leads after watching the love you give me, which has a little gender equality message,…
Ooooh! This was exactly the post I needed! I just finished The Love You Give Me earlier today and was having trouble deciding if I should watch this next. Based on your comment, I think I'll wait.

Can't for the life of me figure out what I'm in the mood for now though. It's driving me nuts!

I'm actually trying to give My Dear Guardian a try (thinking maybe I should go for a completely different vibe) but I just can't seem to get into it. Came back here to see if maybe I should go ahead and just start this instead. So glad I'm really glad I saw your post.

UghhhhH! What to watch though!

Emotional depth doesn't mean crying in sad scenes and laughing in the happy ones. It means to convey the feeling…
I'm so glad someone else sees this in Yang Yang. I know @DavidPENNY didn't mean any harm (thankfully) but I always feel so badly for Yang Yang when he doesn't get the credit he deserves for his acting. He either gets hate simply because of his looks (like people CAN'T like him because he's too pretty...like that's his fault) or because people don't understand how truly talented of an actor he is because he's SO good. His talent is wasted on an audience who just doesn't get the level of his skill. If other people acted his roles, I guaranty those dramas and movies wouldn't have done half as well as they have.

My guy yang yang has has really just been getting roles because of how good looking this dude is, no hate i just…
Like @Ar_ I have to disagree as well. The man emotes a whole lot without doing or saying much. That's skill in itself. His simple expressions and slightest motions covey volumes.

Yang Yang's strength is unfortunately also his biggest weakness. His acting can be compared to ballet. While a motion may seem beautiful, elegant, light and effortless in ballet, it actually takes a shit ton of strength, talent, skill and hard work to execute. It also takes more than just perfect execution to make a ballet performance phenomenal. The dancer brings the role to life and makes it magical.

It's the same for Yang Yang's acting. He doesn't get the credit he deserves because it seems like he's not doing much yet somehow his roles do so well. People always assume the success of his roles come from the roles themselves and he's not given the credit he's due. He brings his roles to life but does it in such subtle and simple ways that it's overlooked by his largely amateur audience so he ends up not receiving the credit he is due. The fact is, if people try picturing other actors playing those roles instead of him, they'd realize that the result would most likely be subpar in comparison.

It is weird how people hate on Yang Yang. He avoids romcoms at all costs to prevent people from calling him an…
I agree. The man is a great actor. People just like to hate. I seriously can't think of another entertainer who gets more illogical and unreasonable flack that he does simply because of his looks. People come up with a million different excuses to throw hate at him but as a neutral bystander who's seen him in a wide range of dramas and been paying attention to him for years, after scraping away all the baseless noise, in my opinion it boils down to him simply being too pretty to be liked. Which is utter b.s.

OH! Also, everyone's bad behavior is put in check really quickly too so that may be why it doesn't become frustrating.

I found this review to be super helpful in helping me decide whether or not I was in the mood to watch this:

Title The Love You Give Me Spoiler
hi, I really want to watch this drama but I heard there were a lot of annoying characters. I heard that jia jun…
Honestly, this is extremely low on the the annoying characters scale when thinking about cdramas. Yes, some characters do some dumb things but it never becomes overbearing and isn't ever drawn out so it's easy to blow off and move past. For me the most frustrating things about the drama are:

1) how the ML is treated once he finds out about his son and tries to become a part of his life (if I remember correctly this lasts a couple of episodes but then goes away...by around ep 9 or so I believe);
2) how long they draw out the issues and throw in obstacles before the main couple finally officially gets together, and
3) how immaturely the relationships are handled (all of them) for a few episodes (I think around episodes 18-20 or so).

There were a few times where I didn't care for the FL too but, again, it would become easy to brush off and move past. Everyone's strengths far outweighed their weaknesses, let's put it that way.

The writer and director are somehow are able to maintain the fluffiness throughout all of this so it never becomes too much or too heavy (or tooooo frustrating).

Also I see comments about how the kid steals the show but I'm sorry it's BOTH the kid and the ML. The ML is hilarious!

I recommend watching it. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would after skimming the comments AND after just finishing it I definitely don't regret watching it at all.

This was a lot better than I expected it to be. I like it way better than I did Light Chaser Rescue, which I have yet to finish although I started that one months ago. Finished this in a couple of days.

LOL! It's been so long since I watched this I don't remember anything about it but this comment was just too funny!

I totally agree with you about Rose's being the best solo song!
Linkin Park is a hardcore fav of mine too. Like majorly so. Enrique Iglesias did put out some seriously music back then too but wow I haven't thought about him in years.

STOP! LOL! No they didn't just say the "champion's" time is 5 mins 35 secs for 100m freestyle. 5 minutes!!! Jeez is he sliding along on his butt the entire way? Lmaooooo! I'm like 7 mins into this and that stopped me dead in my tracks. 1 min 35 sec would have been bad enough but at least believable. I really hope this was just an inaccurate translation because it would have taken the writers all of 30 secs to look up what an average 100m freestyle time might be or maybe search for a provincial champion's time or something, if they weren't sure. *smh*

*breathe* *just breathe* Oh hell no, just go ahead and kill me.

Chinese writers really are the worst for doing their research and paying attention to detail. How are you gonna write a story where the main lead is a swimmer but not know something as basic as that? Kill me now.

*breathe* *just breathe* Oh hell, just kill me now.

Yes I'm a former competitive swimmer but come on!

LOL! Please don't take me seriously. He's just my bias so I was being overdramatic. I laugh at myself because I was never into a group this much when I was a teenager but now my old ass is ARMY. LOL!

I actually thought it weird that kpop was in large part a lot of oversized groups with a really large number of members. I thought it was odd. Like I was never into Nsync (I liked them but wasn't a part of their fandom or anything - now Justin Timberlake? I just love that man) or Backstreet Boys back in the day and when I first came across a few Kpop groups my first thought was - why are their groups so dang large and why are there so many of them? I couldn't really understand how what we used to call boy bands (guy groups who could sing and dance and all that) was really still a thing . Then I saw BTS perform...and they shut me up. That was years and years ago and I'm still a die hard fan to this day.

Branching out into Blackpink and Taeyang is actually relatively new for me. I knew of them but had never even watched one of their videos. After all this time I still really don't know of many other kpop groups and even when I've tried to get into others, I might like a song or performance but I hadn't actually started following them or anything. Until I saw Lisa and Jisoo's videos and became an instafan. Same for Taeyang. But I only actually follow BTS. They're an entirely different story. I love every single one of those men and my old ass has a closet full of memorabilia and gear. LOL!

So I totally get where you're coming from and really am not giving you a hard time.
