I watched this today in our local indie cinema and it was such a great movie. I cried several times toward the end. Billkin is first billed and he was really good in it. His journey from a callous, failed young gamer who only cares about himself to a young man who has learned empathy and humanity is subtle and powerful and utterly convincing. Sometimes you can end up in the right place for all the wrong reasons. I can definitely recommend it. The lady who plays the grandma is so good too, and to think this is her debut role! I absolutely thought she was a seasoned actress, but Billkin is in fact her senior in the acting profession!
and honestly it's totally ok if u don't like itThis needs high tolerance frr lmao
I guess there's something for everyone! For the record, I really like comedy BL, just because we don't have the same sense of humour doesn't mean I only like "serious BL"
I just watched 3 minutes of episode 3 and had to nope out. Reading the comments here, it seems I made the correct decision... I was already not wowed by episode 1 and 2, so I guess this series is not for me... How does it have such a high rating
I literally stopped watching right after that scene. I feel like most writers wouldn't dare have a scene like…
I agree that it wasn't shown as titillating, it was shocking but not titillating. I'm still unconvinced why that scene was necessary, and I don't think the way either girl acted felt realistic to me, but I'll give it one more episode. Interestingly, a very similar scene took place in the BL "Perfect Propose" and that also felt off to me, although most viewers didn't seem to think very much of it, which says something about how hard it is for men who have experienced SA to be taken seriously. Scenes like that are or used to be very common in BL and I guess GL is not excluded from the trope either.
But Megumi was asleep, not trying to get it on with her or being suggestive at all. I've woken up in the exact same situation (though it was a guy and he was *not* sleeping in my bed) and it made me super scared and angry. He was also trying to claim that he thought I'd wanted it, even though I was fast asleep. I screamed at him until he left. I would have reacted the same if it was a woman.
Hmmm... ok. I have to say, the first case made me frown and mutter "what the hell...?" Like, I thought they really…
I agree, it was too weird, and also some things didn't quite make sense (like how did Shen Yi manage to draw Eggshell's inner demon, is he psychic now?). It kind of reminded me of those really strange and contrived old Sherlock Holmes mysteries and how he somehow manages to extrapolate an insane amount of specific details from some very sparse clues...and Shen Yi even quoted Sherlock Holmes... It feels like they started off with a really out there plot to gain attention, but it just threw me off. But eps 3-4 pulled me back in and made me cry.
I seem to remember that most (if not all) of the cases in s1 were based on real cases, but I'm wondering if that's true in season 2.
