I understand what they were going for but it was poorly executed imho.
It dragged on needlessly and I lost interest real quick but continued just to see how it would end. I wouldn't recommend this as it really is a waste of time. (kissasian)

Pretty standard Japanese movie on tackling the hard and really uncomfortable topics that tend to be swept under the rug. This is why I will always hold Japan in higher regard than other Asian countries because they can at least face these topics head on.
I knew how it would end from the start but it was still enjoyable even if it was predictable.

While watching I just couldn't help but compare it to Goodbye My Princess. Obsessive/ possessive murderous but still sexy so you look past his psychotic tendencies ml and a not-to-smart but you still want to root for her but she keeps disappointing you fl. I recommend it if that's your thing. (kissasian)

Dropped
It's only 8 episodes yet I found it tough just to get through them. Finally dropped at the half-way point. It's just to meh for me right now.

He is so cute! I wish him well in his acting career.

So no access to episode 8 or 12 and because of that I don't know how the season ends. It put me off for watching season 3 tbh.
This was a cute story but the hassle to watch the episodes is just not worth it. I would pass on this just for that alone.

Romance is NOT Japan's strong suite so with that said, this a decent attempt at it.
The issue I had was the fl was annoying and ml was boring but as usual in most of these situations the side couple was more interesting. Watch it or not- the show was all around meh for me. (dramacool)

As you said we see all the kids interactions but his and also the fact he gets teased as just the mediocre kid- his singing voice is just 'meh'. I think he did it to finally stand out...
