Same director so the style comes off pretty similar. Both are slow to start and visually stunning movies- one is very colorful while the other is grey monotone.

Both are based off the original American drama with the same name. The S.K. version stayed more true to the original while the Japanese version made it more their own. It's lighter in storytelling and much more fast paced plus they also changed a major arc that was in the original and S.K. version which I will not spoil.

Two people are just drawn to each other despite social norms dictating that they should not be together. The notion of do you stay loyal to your family or follow your heart is displayed in both dramas.

A beautiful guy enters the lives of women and changes it. While Mother and Daughters is a more light and heart-felt portrayal, Junichi is a more mature version of that.

Be careful what you wish for.
That is the theme shared with these two productions. The participants are warned that their requests may have dire consequences. Yet they chose to move forward anyway to feed the need of their basic human desire of instant gratification, revenge, popularity, etc. Both do a great job of highlighting that dark side of human nature.

Both have main characters who have been dealt a crappy hand in life. These two dramas are very hard to watch in a sense that you will get emotional and just wonder at how can the world be like this. The sense of injustice is prevalent in both and it will have you questioning how one respond in these situations.

These two are similar in that a guy comes to a troubled woman and changes her life possibly for the better. Junichi is with multiple women while in The Lady Improper it's only one couple.

Both have the bad boy falling for the good girl troupe, outsiders who want to ruin their relationship, and strong friendships. Both are older dramas so the quality is not the greatest and both have young stars so their acting is... not the best BUT the stories for both are good. Albeit I must say MARS is better story-line wise and does have a batter ending.

You don't get to choose your family but if you did the bonds would be the same. While watching Shoplifters I got the feeling of dejavu and then realized that I felt the same way while watching Mother. Both deal with children in unhappy/ unsafe homes and finding solace elsewhere. With Mother you get a more drawn out story while Shoplifters is a more condensed version. I highly recommend both.

Both are pretty much the same in that they both tell stories of the macabre and creepy. Neither are really too scary and both are told in an anthology format- each episode is a different story with no connection to the other.

Both dramas deal with two people going through difficult situations and finding comfort and support in each other. Both have characters with an age gap so the bond that they share is unlikely. Romance is something that is hinted but really its a strong friendship that is developed.

Luck-Key is the Korean remake of Key of Life. While the original is more of an indie film, the remake is more big budget. Both are entertaining but they both have their drawbacks- it really depends what one likes in a film. I suggest watching both and drawing your own conclusions.
