Beautiful drama. The love story between the OTP is one of the most beautiful I've seen so far in my limited drama watch. It's not cheesy and fluffy but it's mature, deep and real, it grows it matures. I especially enjoyed the last couple of episodes thirty something till the last.
Some sad moments had me in tears.
I love these actors, I think Ariel Lin is an amazing actress and I just love William Feng, he's amazing.

At first I didn't like the emperor of Zhou but later on he gained my respect. The love triangle here is actually beautiful and I think it's because of the second ML. Most second ML are selfish about their love for the FL, never caring about the feelings of the female lead just caring about their own feelings and forcing things all about winning over the ML. This one loved the FL but also respected her and respected her choice. He truly loved her and wanted to protect her despite being rejected by her, it was all about her and not about him, yes he tried but he knew and accepted that her heart only had one person in it. Yes the second ML is not perfect at all but in regards to the love triangle I respected how he was. And I like emperors/kings/crown princes who are wise and not fooled by scheming of selfish women. He didn't fall for his empress scheming of trying to kill the FL he saw right through her unlike our ML who fell for Zhenger's scheming and believed her over his wife earlier.

The storyline is good but just got annoying because of the annoying nonsensical actions of the emperor and empress of Qi and the foolishness and stupidity of the emperor of Qi...what a dumb emperor my gosh and psycho empress. I prefer antagonist who are smart in their scheming and plotting. Those who you hate but respect because of how smart and brilliant they are in their badness. These ones were just silly, stupid and annoying.

I'm still on the fence where political scheming dramas are concerned. I'm not sure if I like or dislike them or don't care for them, haven't seen much of them.
I did watch Nirvana in Fire and loved it and throughly enjoyed it, and I was surprised I did because of it's lack of romance but it's that good that you kind of forgive it for not having romance (for those of us who love dramas with romance).
I know this one is not as good from comments. But it definitely is on my soon to watch list, I just have to psych myself up for the 70 episodes, that number honestly overwhelms me when I think about starting it.

I don't know...It's ok. It just doesn't have depth for me. Love the actors but just couldn't connect with their characters. Like I feel like it doesn't have a strong storyline.

You loving the drama kind of encourages me that this is still a worthy watch despite the ending (fully aware we have different tastes as watchers but still, I'm encouraged a bit).
And yeah I'm used to chinese historical having a slow start and having to push through those episodes. So I'll bear it.

I'm falling in love with Ni Ni (have watched three of her movies after watching Love and Destiny) so I'll definitely give this one a go for her.
But seriously though...not much romance? That sucks, I'm a sucker for romance and those clips made it seem like there's a lot of romance but I will still watch it though.

What kind of unhappy ending is this one? Like is it a 'don't end up together' unhappy ending? Or 'death' unhappy ending?
I really just want more of Ni Ni after watching Love and Destiny but I just need to prepare my heart for the ending. And from the clips I've seen, this couple really looks good together. But the comments say it's not a good ending...so eish I don't know. Is 70 episodes with a not good ending still a worthy watch?

I'm on episode 5...and I never ever have a second ML syndrome, ever, but on this one was really rooting for shifu.

Lol that happens @ your first comment. Completely normal for one not to completely like what everyone completely loved.
I loved this drama, it still doesn't top TMOPB but it's still a beautiful drama to me. Funny thing though that I realised after a day or two of watching it is that my withdrawal symptoms weren't as hectic as after TMOPB, I don't know how many times I've rewatched TMOPB, this one I only rewatched the last 6 episodes and once. I realised that the impact it had on me wasn't as deep as TMOPB. And I loved and enjoyed L&D, I think it's a beautiful drama but I don't know there's just something that I can't quite put my finger to it.

And I agree with some of your statements @ your second comment. They were some unnecessary characters. And what even happened to that young dude?

Are the immortals confused though? Well some yeah,more like one JX. But LX and QY and TMOPB- DJ and FJ were not confused. They knew that their mortal selves is part of who they are, and their growth is the result of their experiences as a mortal. I love how you said it "LM is part of the LX she grows up into." I think it's less confusion and more a shock and the adjusting, when their experiences as mortals become one with their immortal selves when they reincarnate.
TMOPB- BQ chose to wipe out her memories as SS but otherwise when she reincaranated SS's experiences were part of who she was and she knew that very well, she was SS.
L&D- QY's mortal experiences were part of her as her immortal self also and she was fully aware. She was still in love with her mortal husband as an immortal, she chose to let him go and move on and open her heart to new love.
And yeah men are visual and that caused conflict, what they were suppose to do was to learn to know the difference parts of them. TMOPB- YH needed to get to know the part of BQ and L&D- JC needed to get to know the part of LM. While still holding on to the fact that SS and BQ/LX and LM are one/part of the same person.

Yep I agree, a 9 or above 9 rating definitely.
Everything about this drama is just beautiful. JC and NN really are amazing actors. It's actually my first time seeing Ni Ni, I haven't seen Rise of Phoenixes, and she is amazing on L&D. I've seen JC on Brotherhood of blades and I love him and he's also amazing here.

Ohh ok I hear you, that makes sense. Hopefully someone who has read the novel, if there is one, can respond. I'd also like to know the explanation of how they got out.

It's a beautiful drama. Throughly enjoyed it. Finaly found a drama that is as beautiful as TMOPB. These dramas honestly are similar but yet different. The director did an amazing job in making the similarities different, I don't know how to explain it. They were parts in this drama that reminded me of certain scenes in TMOPB, but yet there was no comparison in my mind, I fully appreciated them as unique to Love and Destiny and the story of Jiu Chen and Ling Xi. This drama was nicely done.

Loved the Peach Blossom trio siblings relationship. Love the Fuyan Hall family/friends.
Found the god of thunder's character quite interesting.
Seriously honestly don't understand what was the point of Yuan Tong's character. And Jiung Xia was just an annoyance.
I love the fact that the OTP was actually a couple, and they were "together" and they each knew what the other felt for the other and they fought together against the demon king.

Episode 58 & 59 are my favourite. Episode 58 had me smiling like a fool :) :). Heck even the god of war couldn't stop smiling on that episode. Really honestly I could've ended this drama with episode 58 and sleep with a sigh and smile on my face (I'm a sucker for romance and lit kiss scenes :) ).
This drama is beautiful mann. I feel like this drama is more laid back, yes there's scheming, there's bad people, nice action but I don't know, there's just a laid back feel to it...maybe it's just me.
And those Princess/high immortal Ling Xi outfits! Wow!

Maybe it's because they're don't belong there? Because they're "righteous", they don't have demonic aura or evil hearts or thoughts/intentions in them. So the demonic realm doesn't really have a hold on them... Don't know, just a thought. We'll wonder till we drive ourselves craze with different analysis or just leave it at that, a beautiful ending that doesn't make sense.

Interesting read indeed, and thought provoking. But I agree with you, on the part of not agreeing completely with the article's analysis, I also don't agree with some parts. There's a comment on that article that I kind of share the same view with a bit. But yeah the interpretation of the question dealt with on that article/review is very subjective.
