A small town where nobody knows what a kdrama is

I don't get surprised by twists often. I've gotten pretty good at guessing after seeing so many crime dramas, but this show delivered unexpected twist after twist.

He Suye may be one of my favorite ML's of all time. He was so attentive, affirming, validating, extremely communicative, and kind. He always felt warm and gentle, but also had some cheekiness as well.

The couple had such amazing natural chemistry. It truly felt like they were so in love, comfortable, and dependent on each other. The couple was a solid 9.5/10, I only wish the plot and pacing had matched that. There really isn't much to the plot, so the show tends to feel really slow, especially the last 5ish episodes (the wedding was truly heartfelt scene though). I'd rate the plot a 7.5 or 8/10 compared to the 9.5/10 for the couple itself. So all in all, I loved this show, but it was hard to get through at times and I ended up skipping parts of it towards the end.

I'm not sure the ML appeared in Hidden Love at all...
He's the brother of the FL in Hidden Love. It's the same character, but he's played by a different actor.

I’m on episode two and wanna make sure I’m right. FL is the author of all the comics/books under the pen name…
Have you watched more yet? The FL doesn't travel into the comic books, she wrote them in the future, then went to the past in only one point of time.

This series starts really bizzare and confusing then begins to make sense the more you watch it. It's a strange mix of anime style hijinks, great medical scenes, typical side characters, and then really interesting leads/natural chemistry/intimacy which I stayed for.

The couple is unconventional where the ML feels like the stereotypical himbo ML's best friend characutrure. And I loved having a super sweet, innocent/naive, adorable, yet mature ML. The FL is truly a pretty toxic person, but you discover that some traumatic incidences caused her to become that way. Then her poor hygiene, low energy, excessive drinking and eating, all make sense due to her poor mental health. Though I wish that was delved into more, along with the development of the leads romance.

But this show is enjoyable if you enjoy anime style live actions, medical dramas, or couples with great natural chemistry.

I really wanted to like this because of the beach vibes, the fun workplace setting of coffee shops, and the lead love team. But my goodness the entire premise and execution of the catfishing is so utterly annoying I'm dropping it. JR seems to be a terrible person with inferiority issues that lies to a girl for months, makes his friend take the fall then guilt trips him with a past injury/scar into continuing the lie for him. JR is a major manipulator and it's not fun to see the leads forgive him for all that without any effort, so I'm dropping at ep 4.

There are three aspects I enjoyed; the reverse trope of FL CEO and ML secretary, an older adult couple, and the way they presented the ML as a father. Other than that, the show felt very straightforward and didn't offer much? I think it's a good, but mediocre story and ended up dropped with only three episodes left because I knew exactly how it was going to go.

Also there's no point in giving characters these extremely traumatic backstories when there's no nuance or complexity for them to add to the story. All they do is wow x's parent died a horrific death so they have insomnia... Their parents could've passed away in normal circumstances and the result could be the same. I just don't get why writer's go so excessive then don't flesh it out. All it does it drag out the plot.

This starts confusing, has a rocky good and okay middle section, then some great episodes towards the end. Some of the anthology esque stories were okay, while ones like the father and the son ep were amazing. I wish there had been more time spent on the connecting plot, the leads relationship, the ML's detective skills, the FL's personality and her present life. Instead the show feels a little disjointed because you don't have a strong connecting factor with each new story. It's sad that with the absolute power duo that anglebaby and wang anyu are, they sadly don't get that much screen time and they're the most intriguing part of the show, other than the episode on the father and the son.

I absolutely adore his acting and would love to see him in more versatile roles. His eye acting is soo good. He can convey such extreme warmth and sadness so well without words, just his eyes. His body language and type of charm can change depending on his roles as well and I think that's so fascinating to see. He's an actor that I'm definitely looking forward to see more from.
Thanks for the great article!

This feels like your average college romance, but then the FL ends up being a complex character that adds a lot of dimension to the story. The FL deals with trauma (bullying), anxiety, panic attacks, there are hints of an ED, and she deals with compulsive lying.

So if you enjoy complex characters, psychological aspects, or simple college romances, then you should definitely check out this short drama.

I got so attached within just a few days of binging it. My goodness, what well crafted characters. I can't wait for a second season!

You have any idea if a season 2 is going to happen? It would be great to see him turn pro and take on Kenshin.
The ending was made with the creators of the show wanting a second season, but I don't know if it's been renewed yet. They may wait to see how big the first season gets, before they spend more money on another season.

My favorites were the rudeboys for sure. My gosh they parkoured and b-boyed their way through fights in order to protect the poor?? Like dude that's the most creative fight/stunt choreography I've ever seen. Those stuntmen and the actual actors are amazing!! There's so much passion and hardwork put into these.

I don't know that I've seen fight scenes with the actual actors be mostly-real before. They're not throwing hard punches and kicks, but they're throwing real ones. The actors must've really studied and practiced and it really shows.
