You got it wrong. That statement has nothing to do with Asia copying the West. It had to do with the fact that Murakami is popular in Japan so it was only a matter of time before they adapted any of his novels. However, the truth is that Asia does tend to copy West more than the other way around.

Yeah I know, but the thing is - there are too many of them :D Almost every 2nd historical drama is based on a novel of some sort, even fanfiction.

Thanks for your recommendations :) Yes, while I did some research I was surprised at how many novel adaptations are there. But I still decided to go with those that could be found and read by most people.

Me too! If a read a novel or manga first, I NEVER enjoy the drama/film adaptation later on. That's why I tend to watch first and then read.

I thought this drama might be interesting, but it's not my cup of tea at all. I'm creeped out by the Japanese trend of "housewife" who does nothing but waits on her husband 24/7 and I don't like the husband, he is like a doormat without a backbone. Oh well~
