I think it is interesting to hear an opinion different from ours. We do not have to agree with those opinions, but if we listen, we can get new perspectives that we may not have thought of ourselves. We do not need to agree or make the other party think the same way as us.
Most importantly, comments need to be kept respectful and we are all set for an interesting discussion, otherwise it is going to degenerate into senseless mayhem, and no one will dare comment anymore for fear of being scolded.
LOL...I get you. I look at some FLs and just get so irritated with them I cannot watch the drama. Sometimes it's the look of the actor, you take one look at them and just do not like them.
I think SRQ will not back off in this second life because he felt he lost out in the first. Back then he never openly expressed his love for the princess, probably because he felt less than because of his castration. Another factor is that he and his family was "wronged". How do you get into a relationship with someone whose family killed your entire family and castrated you? Love hate relationship there. A fellow viewer who has read the novel, shared with me that the Su family were neutral and benevolent in the novel, but the emperor in his bid to get rid of all noble families, threw this innocent family into the mix, not that the Su family did anything bad (at least in the novel).
Guess being born into royal and noble families has it's challenges. They have to consider family and alliances in major decisions. Not an easy life. I am interested to see what SRQ will become in later episodes, either a deliciously complex villain or a good guy with a face that annoys the heck out of some viewers. LOL

I am still catching up on episodes. At Ep 11 only. Argh! Loving this drama so far. When Pei and Li Rong argue, it really shows that they are old souls in young bodies. Hilarious and cute.
That ending for SYR was beautifully portrayed, throwing himself off the palace walls after playing their song on his flute, body falling behind JL as she walks away. He was her past and she is walking into a beautiful bright future with Duke Su. Loved how they portrayed this so poetically. 👍👍👍
What SYR did to XFF was wrong, no excusing him. And him betraying his king and country was wrong. He got the karma he deserved in the end. But despite SYR's flaws, I still think he loved JL / XFF right to the end. He just never understood why in XFF's heart, he was dead to her. For some reason, he was blinded by his way of thinking, he never got it (as in how bad / hurtful his actions were to XFF). Makes it kind of tragic, he died not understanding what he did wrong to XFF. He was just sad and confused, cornered with no way out.

Before the Su family annihilation and SRQ's castration (that was one heck of a harsh punishment back then), I get the impression that SRQ would have been more of a neutral party in his family. But at the end of the day, he is still a Su, everyone with the Su surname gets punished.
If he had not been a Su, but from a lower ranking noble family, perhaps the princess would have married him instead of Pei? They are attracted to each other, just that circumstances will not allow them to be with each other.
