Where did you watch it, if you don't mind me asking?
So...I guess they're real? Or he had pics taken with the fake ones on? If they're real, I'm sad he did that to his beautiful body. Especially that chunky one (a flower of some kind?) on his neck. It's all I could look at during Stranger's Kiss.
"Stigma is unlike other New BLs that portray gays as sex starved animals or predators just for their series to sell. These bad shows bring down whatever little recognition BLs have in the country. This is where BL self-censorship should be greatly enforced lest BL shows in the PH become highly regulated and censored before we know it.
There should be more art and better BL shows that carry good values, that follow the laws and civil and legal obligations of the land, with strong social relevance that educate the viewers.
Whatever good the BL shows have made so far should be preserved and sustained and stop the proliferation of BLs that put sex and smut at its center that would lead to the perdition of the BL genre."
It's really difficult to believe the above was written by a person who "loves sex" and, presumably, freedom of expression as well. Art does not owe it to anyone to "self-censor" so that the government won't do it. What sense does it make to do the government's Puritanical, prudish job for it in advance?
Why oh why are so many Pinoy BLs preachy, preachy, preachy? And full of horrible transgender stereotype characters? I haven't watched this one because it sounds bad and I'm weary of giving my time to bad Pinoy BLs. They are almost ALL preachy, moralistic and more like watching pro-LGBTQ documentaries featuring sloganeering by the writer/directors.
I don't think you "love sex," by the way. People who love sex don't use words like "censorship," "sex and smut," "selling obvious sex," "perdition," (lol, who uses that word other than evangelical preachers?) and other terms you throw around. Art does not have to "teach" any lesson at all if the artist doesn't want it to. Two or three or four beautiful bodies making love can be one of the most lovely things you'll see in your life. That love-making does not require the bodies be covered with various Pinoy, pro-LGBTQ bumper stickers promoting anyone's political beliefs. The bodies and the scene ITSELF can be the message in the hands of a skilled craft person.
Which leads me to the worst thing about Pinoy BLs: PREACHY PREACHY PREACHY
Here, let me see if I can help (but I'm prejudiced; this was a terrible short.)Uly woke River up from the dream…
To me, there are people so messed up and profoundly damaged that no matter how much you give it's never going to work. So it's best to let go and move on. It's not anyone's job to "fix" someone else or sit around waiting for them to change when you see no evidence that is happening. It was almost comical that the show was mostly River sitting at that table smoking and bitching to his friend about Cloud. The only time we saw the two happy together was in that dream. Which is it was so weird after that fight and breakup; I was like "what the hell is going on?" lol
You're kind of the Pinoy BL expert, right? Do you know if Migs' tattoos are real? Guess I could Google.
IDK.... It seems that the "I had drunk sex, and I don't know who I slept with" theme has been overused too many…
Totally agree. I found this series to be awful and dropped it last night after two and a half eps. Ugh. And yes, now that I've been a BL fan for more than a year, I'm finding it very difficult to find series/films I haven't already seen. Upside: I'm watching a lot of them a second time, if I liked them the first time around, which is always a good idea. I get so much more out of a film/series on second watch.
I sure as hell hope that those tattoos all over Migs' amazing body are fake. I hate when gorgeous people mar their beauty with permanent ink, especially as many as he had. This short was terrible. The acting was atrocious, all round. Migs needs to stick to modeling, working out, maybe become a gigolo, I don't know, but the acting thing isn't cutting it. Many times during this half hour I was embarrassed for him and the audience at how amateur his efforts were. And I hate when actors take up smoking to look cool or thoughtful or whatever, but don't put in the work to actually SMOKE because there is no convincing way to fake smoking. You can always tell when they don't fully inhale. Plus, Migs was awkward holding the cig in his fingers AND his mouth, as well as in lighting the damn things. And fiddling with that damn lighter all the time. An unnecessary bit of actor-y business. At the beginning, why didn't' they just use their cellphones? Instead, they both sit and fume for like eight hours. It made no sense and there was no explanation given. The whole thing about some vacation or something also was incoherent. The film never established their relationship when it was good, fun and healthy. They were fighting from the very beginning, so how were we to care if they broke up? When Migs was sitting on that little balcony on anniversary after anniversary, bitching about how bad his relationship was to the friend, I just rolled my eyes. "Then get out of it, for god's sake." And of course, this being a Pinoy BL, we had the preachy, cliche advice-spouting best friend to spell everything out for us, though all I keep hearing were weak excuses to stay in a miserable relationship that wasn't working for either one of them. The fake car crash was the ultimate bad fake car crash in BL history. Cloud kind of looked like he killed himself, but maybe he was supposed to be crying or he just fell asleep from exhaustion after five years in that hellish union. If he purposely wrecked the car, I guess he didn't mind taking whoever was in the other automobile with him. Awful little thing. The fewer people who see it the better.
This was OK... APPLAUSE ... The only thing I didn't understand was the ending... Did Uly say that Cloud couldn't…
Here, let me see if I can help (but I'm prejudiced; this was a terrible short.) Uly woke River up from the dream where he and Cloud were happily celebrating their FIFTH anniversary. He had the dream AFTER he and Cloud had that huge blowout and they decided to break up and Cloud went out and sat in the car. That's when he called Uly and cried on the phone. After abruptly waking River and even more abruptly telling him Cloud was dead from a car crash, (Cloud "couldn't handle the breakup" meaning he was very upset, crying while driving after he called Uly, and presumably this resulted in a car crash that killed Cloud), Uly gave River the box Cloud had given him at some point, to pass along to River. The box contained the letter and the ring. River was fake crying and calling Cloud like a dog because Cloud was now dead and Migs is a really BAD actor. I agree, the acting at that point was the worst of the show, which is saying a lot. River seemed more annoyed than crushed.
The short tries to teach us to never give up, but in my estimation the real message is that they should have given up after one or two years. There was never a happy moment shown between them and they fought all the time. There are times in life when giving up is the thing to do...or "letting go" is a better term.
I love this little film I watched it about a year ago and came back for a second take. Like all good shorts, it manages to say a lot in a very short amount of time. Seems to me through his fascination/attraction to his brother, Jay, a normal adolescent, is learning that he is gay. He's also learning that he is not attracted to girls as we see late in the film, but not for giving it a try, bless his heart.
Adolescent attraction, fascination, crushing on older siblings, gay or straight, is extremely common. If you think about it, why WOULDN'T it be? You have a slightly older, more physically developed, possibly attractive human living in close quarters with you who exists in the kind of body you are learning you are attracted to. How could you NOT notice? I've done quite a bit of reading about this. It's common as hell, as is sexual experimentation between male siblings near in age, gay OR straight. When you're that age, a broomstick makes you horny.
As an adolescent I had two older brothers, three and four years my senior. So when I was 11 or 12 and really starting to have intense gay sexual feelings and attractions, I was VERY aware of their 14 and 15 year-old physicality and while I don't recall actually crushing on either of them, I can imagine that happening. I definitely crushed on a number of their hot, athletic friends. lol
My take is that Jay is def crushing on his brother. I got the feeling that maybe his bro was aware of it and not entirely averse to it. Seems interesting how he left the door to his bedroom ajar when he was porking that noisy girl even though he knew good and well Jay was there, given away by his shoes near the front door.
All in all, a great short. Jay the actor is adorable.
i'm sorry i just can't imagine someone discovering their sexuality through being attracted by their siblings😭😭
Then you need to stretch your imagination to fit the shape of reality. It is EXTREMELY common for adolescents, gay and straight, to crush on an older sibling when they are first discovering their sexuality. It would be weird if they DIDN'T notice their older, more physically developed, attractive older brother or sister with whom they live, see in the bathroom, walking around half-naked, etc. . Doesn't mean anything has to happen between them and it usually passes fairly quickly as the young man or woman begins to notice other people outside the home. But I guarantee you that, at least in the case of males, brothers close in age often experiment with each other as they are exploring their new sexual feelings, usually in the form of jerking off together. Sometimes, when brothers close in age are both gay there is an ongoing sexual relationship, usually lasting until they get caught. It's a fact of life and not a big deal unless you try to make it into one.
It never fails to amaze me how many sexually uptight, prudish and sex-phobic people there are in the BL/gay film audience. I would have thought just from the fact they're watching gay-centric and BL-themed material, that their minds would already be more open than often seems to be the case here.
What do you mean? The son was 15? The actor? The character? What? Either way, this is a fictional story; he was…
Yeah, whatever. Once again, the actor did not HAVE sex with anyone, so it makes no difference how old he is/was/will be. It's called ACTING for a reason. You are clearly incapable of grasping that distinction when it comes to sex acts in movies. I guess you also think the actress really cut the dude's dick off too. I understood very well what you intended, but what you intended is fucked up.
Almost made it through the second episode. The acting is terrible, the production is awful, the direction and plot are all over the place. Everyone is already gay or gay friendly or transgender or whatever so where's the drama? The "straight" guy didn't seem to notice that his "Shane" had a d**k and no boobs, I guess and the dude he slept with doesn't seem at all eager to figure out who the guy was. A d**k and not boobs are things you'd notice no matter how drunk you are.
Why are most Pinoy BLs so in-your-face preachy about social issues? Everything is spelled out verbally or done in voice-overs, and it's all like an LGBTQ Pride rally lecture. SHOW me and TELL me a STORY that gets your messages across, don't just throw them in my face like I"m an imbecile. And why are Pinoy BLs so obsessed with over-the-top, stereotypical, bitchy, queenie trans women? They do not exist in the numbers we are so often presented in Pinoy BLs. Half the people in this series are transgender and stereotypical. I have ZERO issues with trans people, I'm am totally supportive. But what's with the constant prancing and mincing and screeching and bitching...? Once again here the trans characters are not PEOPLE, they are laughable stock characters, meant to be laughed at, not with.
IDK.... It seems that the "I had drunk sex, and I don't know who I slept with" theme has been overused too many…
I started watching "Nation's Brother" but dropped it because I found it to be subjectively horrible all the way around, from acting to production. No, I haven't watched any of this series. Is it any good?
What do you mean? The son was 15? The actor? The character? What? Either way, this is a fictional story; he was…
The usual cheap-shot accusation is the last resort of someone losing the argument, but to be expected. Actually, I don't worry about how old the actors are; I'm much more interested in the characters and their circumstances. Speaking of which, the actor who you say was 15 at the time this awful movie was made looked significantly older than that to me. I would have guessed him to be 18 or 19 except that the plot placed him in high school. Damn, you caught me on a misspelling. I HATE misspellings. :)
What do you mean? The son was 15? The actor? The character? What? Either way, this is a fictional story; he was…
I understand your point very well. It's the same one Puritannical prudes who want to control film-making have been making for decades. It's old, stale and useless, in any language.
It's "making fun OF someone's English..." not "on."
IDK.... It seems that the "I had drunk sex, and I don't know who I slept with" theme has been overused too many…
Hi there. Reading your comment I realized I can't think of EVEN ONE BL that features "drunk sex BUT I CAN'T REMEMBER WHO I HAD SEX WITH" as a plot element. I've seen plenty of drunk sex but not one where a character can't remember who their sex partner was, which sounds like a hilarious plot line with lots of potential. Can you recommend some movies or series with that element?
What do you mean? The son was 15? The actor? The character? What? Either way, this is a fictional story; he was…
"I'm not even talking about sex in movies but teenagers being involved in those... " What is this even supposed to mean? If you haven't been talking about sex in movies then what the hell HAVE you been talking about? Jesus, you still don't get the difference between the FICTIONAL activity you see on screen and reality. Do you believe that the teen boy in this movie actually had his dick cut off? Why not? Sure looks like he did.
Like I said, consider mastering English before you try to use it to communicate.
What do you mean? The son was 15? The actor? The character? What? Either way, this is a fictional story; he was…
Like I said, you're a prude who thinks she knows what's best for everyone when it comes to a little SEX, which your are hung up about? You said "teenager," does this means your silly fear of sex scenes messing people up extends to 19 year-olds as well? Why do you think you have the right to proclaim what is "moral" for anyone but yourself? What are these terrible harms that come to young people who act out sex scenes? You have yet to name one. Take your morals and shove them. We've had Puritanical freaks like you around since time began: anti-sex, censorious panty-sniffers who are afraid of their own feelings surrounding sex. No one cares what you think when it comes to this film or others; just don't watch them
"Argumentum ad hominem..." lol What a wanker. Perhaps you should master English before you take on Latin. lol
I ithink he loved him very much...he said he never did at the end to be cruel, and who wouldn' t be with a sword…
Well, it's certainly possible to "love" more than one person at the same time, for one thing. But I feel there is no way the chief "loved" the queen as much as he was obsessed with lust for this new kind of sex. Think about it: He had been with the King since he was a child and at some point they transitioned into also being lovers. When the King first made him start f**king the queen, the chief laid on the king's shoulder at night and cried while the King was sleeping. His feelings were becoming confused and he did not want to be sleeping with the Queen. Furthermore it was obvious when the king and chief were shown making out that no one was forcing the chief to engage with that kind of passion.
My final argument is HOW can you be in love with someone you don't know and have spent almost ZERO time with outside the time they were f**king? The Queen and the Chief did not even "fall in love at first sight." The feelings developed along with the sexual relationship. If the Chief and Queen had never slept together, there would have been no "romance." I hated the Queen for luring the Chief back for that final "meeting" at the library. She clearly had one thing on her mind, to get laid again, and she didn't mind risking the Chief's life to get what she wanted. Is that something you do to someone you love?
What do you mean? The son was 15? The actor? The character? What? Either way, this is a fictional story; he was…
You are not a deep thinker, are you. The actor is not actually having sex, he is pretending to have sex so it makes no difference if they are 35 or 15. Could you please name some series that have used adults pretending to be teens in sex scenes? I will ask again, since you still haven't answered: why are you hung up on fake sex acts when minors act out all sort of OTHER illegal activities and you don't seem to mind? Furthermore, 15 is far different from 10 and creative directors know how to film scenes to make it appear that an actor is sexually involved then nothing of the sort actually took place on the set.
You're right about one thing: this is NOT hard to understand: You are a prude who has issues about sex and thinks it's generally dirty, nasty and wrong.
