Title Burning
I just watched the movie and have read the short story it is based on. In the short story the story ends after…
Excellent catches! Those are the kind of things I pick up on on a second watch too. And what makes good movies. I didn't mean to imply at all that the MC is not attractive...I find him kind of adorable. But that mouth hanging open really began to bug me. And I DIG me some nice, plump lips.

MC possibly judging HM later for so quickly sleeping with him is exactly the kind of double standard women have to deal with: he thought it was fine for HIM to sleep with HER immediately but not the other way around. He made that cruel remark because he assumed Ben and HM were having sex and was jealous.

I had to add that the fact you think of a four paragraph comment as a "thesis" is a testament to your low level of intellect.

HM's instant recognition of MC is one of the reasons that early on I thought maybe she was setting him up deliberately to get even with him for the way he treated/ignored her in high school. She already knew who he was, maybe she made sure she would run into him, she mentioned that he ignored her and told her to her face 'you are really ugly," which is pretty fucking mean, she had plastic surgery and told him that. I thought it possible that she had stalked him to find out where he was and was out to take him down.

Two comments: I thought the actress playing HM was stunning. Such a delicate beauty, but she did a great job of projecting great strength from within, as well as vulnerability. She also has beautiful breasts...which were pretty good sized for such a small, lightweight frame. I actually wondered if they too were part of the plastic surgery remake. Secondly, did MC's "mouth-breathing," appearing in so many scenes with his mouth hanging open, bother you at all. It made him look really stupid to me. Am I shallow to notice that?

Thanks for your lengthy, thoughtful comment. You gave me a lot of food for thought. I wish we could sit down together and discuss this because I still have many questions. Some refer to character's actions: Why in the world would MC run around ON FOOT checking all the greenhouses to see if any have been burned? Why wouldn't he just drive around in his clunky truck? The running around seemd clunky and silly to me. Also, using burning abandoned greenhouses as a metaphor for killing abandoned young women seems like a really clunky metaphor to me. Another thing that seemed inconsistent to me was that even though MC clearly suspected Ben of killing HM fairly soon after she disappeared, he said NOTHING to Ben about it. It seems like he would also hope that maybe he had kidnapped her and was holding her somewhere in which case, speed would be of the essence. MC never did accuse Ben to his face, he just killed him. It seemed curious to me that though HM seemingly was fond of MC, she kept hanging around with Ben 24/7. I even wondered if she and Ben were a thing and if they were sleeping together, as I'm sure Ben also wondered. Was she just trying to make MC jealous to get a reaction and got one she wasn't counting on? His remark to HM about taking her clothes off was mean but not at all surprising from a young straight guy in that culture who sees the woman he has affection for, which he refused to express, hanging out and maybe having sex with, another man who is more handsome, rich and at least as attractive as he. That remark hurt...I remember almost gasping when he said it, but again I felt like it was inevitable. Was HM just naive in that she took her efforts to make MC jealous too far and got a reaction she didn't expect? It's also true that MC would be thinking "well, she slept with me almost immediately after we met, she had condoms in her room, which means she's sexually active and she's very free-spirited and doesn't conform to conservative Korean society's bullshit, so it's LIKELY she is fucking Ben just like she fucked me." Seems like HM would know he was probably thinking all this. Do you think she just desperately wanted someone to love her exactly as she IS, not as the rest of Korea wants her to be? And actually MC DID love her, but was so intimidated and threatened by Ben that he couldn't bring himself to tell her...instead he told Ben, of all people. And how creepy was it when, after he told Ben that, Ben responded with that mocking little chuckle/giggle? To him, MC's notions of "love" and affection were a joke. He was also laughing at MC for claiming to love HM but doing nothing to let her know that or to stake his claim as her lover.

Aside from all this, I found that moment when MC and HM first had sex and he noticed the light reflected from that tower onto the closet wall in front of him to be really remarkable and memorable.

Wish we could sit together and re-watch this. :) I think what it boils down to is this: Ben likely did a makeup job on HM, toyed with her for a few days, then killed her and dumped her in that pond (another place MC could have confronted him). But there are so many clues pointing different directions that it seems almost boring that such a clear, and clearly indicated, outcome would be the resolution. It seems so...cliche, unoriginal, obvious and I wish the real answer were more interesting.

hi! i'll give you my personal thoughts. well, the title means peter pan dream, we can see minha drawing peter…
I'm taking PP in slow sections. I like it but get a little impatient with the episodes after about an hour, so I just take a break and come back in a day or so. I find it interesting and engaging and funny and dramatic at times, but for whatever reason it's not the kind of thing I can binge-watch.

Eager to hear your thoughts on Burning. That is one intense and challenging watch and not everyone's cup of tea. I loved it but was left with more questions than answers than you might see in a comment in that section. Check it out and if you have some answers for me, I'd love to hear them.
You have a great day too.

Yes, seriously, you stupid SJW fool. I wasn't "shaming" anyone about anything. I was stating my valid opinion about an actor's looks, which is a completely valid topic to address. Do you not SEE actor's faces and form ANY opinion about their degree of attractiveness? If you say no, you are lying. It is simple human nature to do so.

I also clearly stated that Nanon did an exceptional job in My Dear Loser, which means he's a good actor. Doesn't change the structure of his face or make him as attractive as Ohm? If Nanon had warts all over his face, a great big bulbous nose with snot dripping out of it, was bald and had only one eye, would I be allowed to mention that? At what point, in your expert opinion, is it OK to mention an actor's looks.

By the way, I clearly wrote only about Nanon's FACE, not his body, dumbass. I also stated that he is cute. Furthermore, if people are "allowed" to think and say that an actor is extremely attractive, can you explain, in detail, why we are not allowed to say the opposite? Do you think most people find Nanon as hot as Ohm? If you say yes, you are lying.

Have you never noticed that Drake's ears stick WAY out to the sides? Again, if you say no you are lying. You may not find them distracting and amusing, but I do and I get to say so. If you disagree that they stick out, then please explain how it is that you do not see with your eyes that they stick out. Is it your belief that no one in the audience except me has ever noticed and been distracted by his ears? If so, again, you are a dumbass. (By the way, YOU started with the name-calling, so don't whine about it being directed back at you.)

If we SEE something, it is entirely OK to write about it. Your little comment is a joke.

Jesus Christ, Mary, relax. "We must not objectify them." lol SJW much? ALL actors get objectified, one way or the other, it's human nature. Deal with reality and grow up.

the chemistry between ohm and nanon pls !!does anyone know who are the kids who acted as young pat and pran? i…
To me the leads feel like they could be friends, but I don't feel a sexual/romantic buzz at all.

On edit: After reading all the comments alluding to the end credits, which I did not watch the first time, I went back and watched them, so I'm taking back what I wrote above. I see major opportunities for feels here, even if Ohm is way more handsome/cute/sexy. When he's on his back with his shirt off, looking up at the other, who just happens to be laying on him, he's downright beautiful. He doesn't mind pouring on the bedroom eyes vibe for another male actor.

Ohm is insanely handsome the older he gets. Plus, he has the best legs (and arms) in BL, which is why they keep putting him in shorts I would guess. :)

This is cute and all, but good god, could the writers be any less original? And why doesn't anyone worry about being charged with assault and battery in these violent fights? This plot is so juvenile and both leads, at this stage, feel too old to be doing dumb high school-type roles and characters. Yes, I know they are supposedly in college here, but it feels like a high school plot to me.

We all know where we're headed, so why not skip right to the first makeout sesh? Also, I'm finding it hard to accept Nanon as a romantic lead, I think because he did such a great job being an adorable nerd in My Dear Loser and I haven't seen him since I watched that. And it's just a fact that while he is sort of cute in a way, Ohm is so dazzling that I'm not sure they're a great casting match.

I've been watching a lot of Korean and Japanese movies lately. It's nice to hear Thai again, as it is the language of my first few BLs and will forever hold a spot in my heart. :) Finally, I wish Drake would get his ears pinned back (they can do that!). All I see is ears when he's on-camera. Sorry, it's true and I bet I'm not the only one.

I think I'm too culturally retarded when it comes to Korean/Asian culture/history to get this movie, but I sure enjoyed watching it. What a visual treat, absolutely, stylistically gorgeous even if I didn't know what was going on most of the time. lol

But OK, what is the deal with the gibberish English subs? Are they related to the Korean Pansori in some way? I don't get it. I tried three different sites to watch this online and the subs were the same, so I assume it wasn't somebody's mistake?

I found it far more violent than sexual, and I loved the way so much of the sex stuff seemed tongue-in-cheek and humorous. What a wild ride. So much beautiful human flesh on display, even if I am gay so for me the highlights were the two lead dudes' sex scenes and the King's nice butt toward the end. I also didn't get why, since the King was obviously nuts and everyone knew it, why someone didn't just kill him early on?

Oh well, wow...this was a trip.

It's a hard movie to watch if you don't like this kind of stuffIt's an explicit filmI don't have a problem, in…
It sounds like the kind of movie I will enjoy too. I don't know why...I have no interest in violence in my own life, I'm a complete pacifist, and I have no urge to rape or molest unwilling victims, so I'm not sure what's going on psychologically but I won't bore you with that and will leave it to my therapist and me to ponder. Perhaps the answer is the INTENSITY these kind of stories generate in me; something in me loves watching through my fingers, gasping, going "wtf?", all that good stuff. I don't feel I have to justify my enjoyment of this type of movie, but it is interesting to explore it.

To say that "MOST BL stories use forced sexual situations and rape..." is a massive overstatement to the point of being an outright lie. I'd say "many" or "a lot" of them do so, but to say that most of them do is bullshit. What is your agenda?

Just curious.

Have you seen the Korean movie "Burning?" Or the Netflix Korean series "Prison Playbook?" I didn't expect to like either and loved Burning. I'm on just the third ep of PP. I recommend both if you're not looking for a gay flick.

I agree with the multiple endings, although I loved the idea of Ben being a serial killer than no one but Jong…
But would a serial killer REALLY keep a victim's pet? What the heck for? Have you considered this whole thing was a setup by HM to get revenge on JS for the way he treated her back in school? I wrote a long spoiler post above, full of unanswered questions. If you'd care to address any of them, I'd be grateful.
