So I usually watch this drama on duboku raw version and the number of negative comments is a lot, they talk about…
It's really such a shame. It feels a lot like the negative fans of Ancient Love Poetry who trashed ALP. Meanwhile those same fans will hype up drama's I find extremely subpar. I love angsty romances with star crossed lovers in fantasy worlds. I also think fans these days are nearly impossible to please. As they say..... Different strokes for different folks I guess.
I say this every time a drama/movie is adapted from a Novel........
They are two separate entities and works of art. The Novel may be better. It may have much more time and space and no budget constraints to develop characters / world build / etc but using it as a standard for a visual drama with time and budget constraints is only cheating yourselves of finding enjoyment in the drama as a separate unique entity. I had to learn this myself long ago. Books and shows are companions in a universe but they are not and rarely can ever be twins. Book purists often like to rain on drama watchers parade and IMO it can be *unintentionally* toxic because the book is the book. The writers/directors/producers of the movie are making their own work of art loosely *based* on the source material. Enjoy it as it's own thing. It's wonderful to read books, I read a TON and often books that are adapted to screen but I learned not to compare them lest I ruin my enjoyment because something doesn't match my pre-conceived bias. If the drama/movie came first and then the book was written the bias would usually go toward the original story. "It wasn't like this in the movie. I liked it better the original way why did they change it in the book"
Just my two cents. This isn't to try to criticize or shame the book readers. It's just something I think happens all too often where there becomes this "the book was better this isnt how the "real" story goes"
That's because this story is a sister not a twin :)
Personally, I'm really enjoying this drama, I'm on chapter 8, and I'm enjoying the performances, the actors, the…
You're English is excellent!!! And I totally agree.... I can't imagine anyone else playing Su Mo now that we have Li Yi Feng acting so perfectly in this role!
Oh I agree but I think in this context mature simply means they don't look like 16 year olds since that seems to be the aesthetic these Douban posters must be comparing too!
Someone on Twitter said that fans on Douban are criticizing Mirror saying that YI Feng (Su Mo) is too much like Xu Kai's (Bai Jue) and that both are *FAT* seriously wtffffff .......and the fans don't like them. I'm not on Douban but I would just like to say......Neither Yi Feng nor Xu Kai were/are **FAT** or even slightly overweight BY ANY standard unless your standard is anorexia. and one of the things I LOVE about Mirror is that Su Mo is giving Bai Jue vibes!!! So for me it's a total plus. I know different people have different tastes but I guess "fat" ie: MANLY very romantic slightly demonic male leads are my taste *shrug*
