Oh God! I was going to say I'd give this a shot without much expectations, especially after having just finished Ruler of the Mask, which I loved but made me wanna get into modern-day dramas again. Then I realized it had 62 episodes, and thought it's over.. And then I saw Yoo Sung Ho's name on the actors list.. Ahh, eottoke.. Well, not watching for now; but one day, if I'm in the mood, and really, really bored, I miiiight check it out. Thank you all for taking your time to write answers !! Have a great day (:
EDIT: Queen for 7 days sounds interesting, adding it to my list
I watched the first two episodes.. So far not so good, doesn't look very promising: too long, too cliché, too little substance. Should I keep on watching ?
This sounds very very very very very much like Cheese in the trap? I'm surprised no one mentioned that ?
Anyway looking forward to see how this turns out! Hope it's a light drama.
To be honest, this drama was kind of depressing... Especially towards the end.
Nothing much happens in those 16 episodes; they hype mainly comes from the fact that the love interest of Eun Tak is a powerful, rich Goblin who's old enough to be her father. Behind the 'Goblin' concept, the plot is pretty simple and cliché: two people in love; it takes them a certain time to get together, and then they have their lovey-dovey moments, as well as various hardships and misunderstandings they must overcome etc.
Overall, the acting of the four main characters was pretty good - Kim Go Eun did a much better job here than in Cheese in the Trap. Same for Yoo In Na, her character was lovely and her fashion was on point, contrary to her character in My Love from Another Star. Her side-story with Lee Dong Wook was cute, but pretty frustrating at times, and the end to me was unsatisfying.
The drama had many points it could've developed; many small questions raised but left unanswered. The whole Goblin concept makes it seem like the drama is very complex and well thought of; in reality, it's just another love story.
Shoutout to the songwriters and lyricists, the OST was brilliant, most of the songs were beautiful and carried the atmosphere very well, the drama was literally relying solely on the music during some scenes, otherwise devoid of emotional impact.
I'm at episode 5 right now and I think I'm gonna drop it, until this episode everything was great but…
Nah don't waste your time haha. It wasn't a 100% bad drama, but if you're already bored at episode 5, definitely drop it cause it ain't getting better by episode 10, and certainly not by the last episode. Too many nonsensical plot twists, when the plot itself could've been simple yet complex and full. Alsooo if you haven't seen the rest, I don't think giving it an 8 because of the first few episodes would be fair... More like a 7.5 to me, and yes solely because the first half made some sense and the story was plot line was original.
damn ji sung is a REALLY good actor. after seeing him in a few dramas, I can definitely say that light hearted roles aren't for him, serious, determined and masculine roles suit him much better.
Is this worth the hype and can I get some of you guy's favorite to tell wether it would suite my taste or not ? xD
Bc for exemple Goblin I'm consideing dropping it, I forced myself to watch ep 14 thinking there were two more left but turns out there's 19 episodes and I find it sooo boring and predictable and confusing at the same time..
Ok honestly I couldn't wait for it to be subbed and watched it raw and I don't regret it.
That movie is good. I'm by no stretch of the imagination fluent in korean but I was able to grasp many words and understand many full lines (that's the first full movie I watch w/ subs)
I was able to understand 90% of the jokes and cried when it got sad but honestly even if you spoke like 0 word of korean you'd understand a good 80% of the story because the actors convey the feelings freaking well.
