I got the feeling that they first erased a possible child between Mo Hyun and Boo Cheon (it was on the correlation…
Now that you mention it, it makes sense, BC's sickness could've made up for that. I feel the same -the drama was melo and tragic enough, no need for more drama :')) Easier for Mo Hyun to divorce.
Hello! I think you should make this comment as spoiler. I'm currently watching the drama and I've stumbled with…
Hi! I'm so sorry -I wrote this mini review right after finishing the drama and didn't realize I forgot to mark it as spoiler. I changed it now. Hope it didn't ruin your experience >.<
This last episode.. Raw and bitter. It was clear from the beginning Pil Joo was a grey character; but this last episode unraveled how truly sad and pathetic his life was. He had devoted his whole being to revenge, his mom didn’t want that, and he misunderstood it. And had he not misunderstood it, he would’ve disobeyed anyway.
From beginning till end, the plot has come SUCH a long way. So many things happened in this drama ! And thinking about it, apart from basically making Boo Cheon the chairman, nothing much happened with Pil Joo. In other words this really is a dramatic drama lmao. For exemple, they could’ve done finely without the mistress’ and son’s character, it could’ve simply been mentioned that Boo Cheon was seeing someone and Mo Hyun had found out so they had to divorce.
Episode 23, Boo Cheon appeared the most pathetic. I was almost sad for him. He had come from being a carefree, silver-spoon-fed brat, to this. His mother lived vicariously through him and made him give up on his dreams. She killed his dad, and his innocence. She ruined him. The very moment he was born with the Jangs and his mother sealed his fate. He became a murderer and a man of low morals. I thought the actor did a really good job. Jang Hyuk too, of course. Actually everyone did well: the mother, the grandfather, Mo Hyun. They were superb in their roles.
I would’ve wished to at least see Mo Hyun and Pil Joo somewhat together, but I liked how they didn’t take the easy route of a happy ending. And I absolutely loved what Mo Hyun said about Pil Joo keeping his manner towards her. When he got so close you could think he was going to throw his « manner » away, but instead, he just looked at her, and said « I’ll be going. »
The pacing was slow and interesting. Not a minute was I bored. The music was heavy and beautifully fitting. The camera work was great, the deco, the lightning. Everything contributed to this thrilling, suffocating atmosphere perfectly.
The show still ended on a positive note, with Pil Joo receiving a job interview offer (which we all know he’s going to nail), and looking up to the sky, walking along with the busy Seoul people. It was as if he had finally earned that opportunity to live like everyone else. The final buildings shot was like saying « this was all over business and money. This is the catalyst to everything. »
Well, maybe I’m over thinking haha.
I did think it was a little too easy to make Mal Ran go insane at the end. I would’ve liked seeing her rot there and confront Pil Joo fully aware of what had happened. I liked how he smiled at her when he saw the state she was in -genuinely. « I have the upper hand in this. You’re the weak one. Poor you, I don’t want to be a dick even when you’re in this state »

Ahhh I understand. I'm from Switzerland, for adults we mostly get German and French soaps, but no one watches those. As for teen soaps they were imported from Argentina, mostly cheesy girly romcom geared towards insecure young girls (those often dealt with bullying, accepting yourself etc.) As for me I never thought of watching a movie alone anyway as I wasn't very interested (I just started watching old French movies like in September, once every two months), but I do remember my mom zapping everything sex or even slightly too "seriously" romantic with me, as well as murder etc, telling me they were bad people twisting peoples' minds with that crap lol.

Yeah I get that :) but I mean why soap operas of all ? is it because in the US they're very explicit ? (im European and usually soap operas are rather "clean" and mostly geared towards 9-12 year olds so I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing)
I was about to get my credit card when I realized it was a monthly payment.. Argh, too bad guys. Sorry but you…
Also on a side note, I'm not a VIP so I don't know, but mymangalist for exemple allows you to customize your list directly through code. If that isn't already in place, I think it would be interesting :)
I was about to get my credit card when I realized it was a monthly payment.. Argh, too bad guys. Sorry but you can't count me in for that. I'd much rather just spend 5 or 10 bucks once and for all than have to pay 35/year, it is slightly overpriced.. I completely acknowledge your hard work and am thankful for that, but most of us are students, I think you're going with the wrong strategy. 5$ would get you more people so at the end of the day isn't that a better choice ?..
I personally loved it, and no the star power was not the reason. I’m also not 14 lol I’m an adult. I loved…
Thank you so much for sharing your point of view so thoroughly. I understand a bit better now. You kinda made me want to rewatch it to see if I feel the same :)
