Just like Iron Family, and Our Golden Days, this started well and ended in a ditch.
Iron Family was just amazing until ... the mama boy obeyed his mama... But - the audience does not love watching poor/disabled/old ppl and laundry service owners? The audience loves watching urban sleek young pretty rich? Imo Iron Family has some of the best scenes and acting, and funny moments. It is sad they made the Orphan poker faced, that actor is so good and I wish he was allowed to act more. OMG THAT DRAMA HAD SUCH GREAT ACTING!!!! I will forever remember scenes of FL's mother finding the Orphan, etc. The plot was KILLED with ML catering to his evil mother and dissing his love. I dropped it them.

Our Golden Days was such a great attempt at social commentary about obeying disfunctional elders, women who stand up for themselves and TALK! omg the sexist audience totally trashed FL there bc SHE TALKS!!! omg! how dare she!!!! then the social issue of retired ppl having to work... realistic young male character ML who is selfish.... etc but then it totally flopped... Bc there was no movement forward and there was too many stuck selfish nasty characters. It was just too much. Then the drama made the ML into a teenage idiot, FL into a naive damsel in distress, etc Ah it was ugly. I dropped that one.

And now this - seems like KBS decided to make something as close as happy-go-lucky Hwood and keep it simple, stupid, and just avoid ANY social issues except something very basic, like WHAT WILL OTHER PPL THINK OF US and how gossip destroys people and communities
SOMETHING THAT EVEN SHALLOW AUDIENCE CAN RELATE TO

OK... so it started as a great comedy family drama and ended up as just mucking in muck until the last minute. Seems like some was resolved at the end but seems like magically overnight.
FL's mother and grandma are HATERS TO THE MAX, and ML's stepmom and father are actually low level criminals. ML's grandpa is a dictator moron. ML's Aunt is just dumb and weak.
The only characters that had anything in them are Uncle - but he fizzled out by the middle -
then FL's brother, and Mi So from Baltimore.
ML is "a good guy" but he is too good to be real and thus his character is boring
FL's designer friend is "a good guy" but the actor is very weak so it fizzled
ML's chairwoman friend "is a good gal" but again her character was written so badly and was not interesting

FL treated ML as crap
and then magically transformed at the end? Same with FL mom and dad, ML mom and dad, ..... Common. That's lazy writing. Also, having ML as this super dedicated good guy. Heck. He should have bolted out long time ago. Why bother catering to a very selfish fickle immature FL

FL's mom was a very realistic character, wasnt she?

This computer is so tricky so I often lose what I wrote so I will retype real fast:
The old dramas at least had characters who looked normal, healthy ppl, with natural skin and a fit normal body, and the old dramas were ENERGETIC and EXPRESSIVE - maybe there were some poker faced ones but there are plenty of expressing
There was fun, community, dialogues, lots of actors, different ages, families, etc the plots were complex

and now the new dramas on the positive side have women who are at least very competent at their job, but yeah as soon as it comes to private life, they are TOTAL morons, clutzes, flakes....
and all actors, male and female, are super skinny, pale, pasticized, and very tired looking, and the plot is soooo simple, the characters are simple, they barely move or do anything, there is no community, there is no humor, ie. it is Kwood not kdrama ''
about very super bland romances between ML and FL without involving anyone else much

So in some ways things are tiny bit better, but not really. It is actually WORSE imo
The sexism is still there huge huge huge - all 2025/2026 rom coms except Positively Yours and Spring Fever were about flakey weak women and a calm guy who "guides" the stupid woman
and that theme continues in thrillers, etc
Thrillers now just do NOT have female characters. Foreigners like Dsny are notorious for that.

Now kdramas have lots of scenes of crazy car chases and such fillers.
There are tons of rather violent and pornographic BL dramas.
Often, I find there is nothing worth watching so I just watch old kdramas.

The missing pieces are "baby on board" sticker and the cross and prayer bench and insistence on victims to pray

So whoever idiot is making this drama, totally killed the excitement by giving wrong orders to actors. They made ML act like a robot, which is super boring. ML is kinda made into this "pretty picture" person, where we see his face in a closeup, but without much emotion AT ALL, he is like a picture perfect from some advertisement. Even as he speaks, he shows very little emotion. ML IS JUST A ROBOT.
The drama is made Kwood style, with all characters being too ... subdued... so there is nothing exciting, truly, there is NO warmth, no humanity, no good emotions anywhere
So that makes it boring to watch

The saving grace is the villain, who is a perfect batsh.t crazy villain, and now his wife too.
The other characters are as bland as cardboard. Just oo many poker faces.

I think the director needs to give up his delusion that this is interesting . If it were interesting, we would be watching Hwood movies not kdramas

yeah I agree, the script and the director KILLED ML role and made him act like a robot. he is very boring to watch. That is a pity.

I think it is possible. For sure, she counseled him, but ... there seems to be more there. How he looks at her and how she emotionally worries about him, ... there is something going on, manifested in an affair or flirting, or just brewing under the surface.
The "friend" doctor notices every time the lady doctor has feelings for ML and he is very jealous and concerned, and that is one reason he is actually ML's enemy

but how he looks at her and how she anxiously looked at videos about him... there is some smoke there and a hidden fire for sure

First of all, can he shoot at all? Has he ever practiced shooting? I dont think he has that level of skill to hit where he is shooting... :)
and also, "maiming" ppl when he knows how much it takes to patch them up.. I dont think he will ever be hurting anyone. He is a DOCTOR

Yup ML is a counseling patient - and more? of the pretty lady doctor, who has caring and seems like romantic feelings for him... ML seems to like her too, and "friend" doctor likes her and thus hates ML ... The "friend" seems like a backstabbing enemy and spy of the Chairman

I think there is that pretty lady doctor that "friend" doctor likes, but she likes ML
and then there is the patent and other secrets of Chairman that this "friend" doctor is partaking in and against ML
In other words, I think this "friend" is actually an intentional enemy and perhaps a spy from the get go

IF this "friend" were just "accidentally" helping the kidnapper, then he would not be giving TJ to the police

This "friend" WANTS TJ to fail and disappear, and is actively working on it

I think ML's wife's reactions are to show how entitled, non-trusting and hostile she is against him, and how anxious and incapable of communication he is, he is like an autistic person, he cannot say more than one clumzy meaningless sentence to her, he totally clams up in anxiety when she disses him. ML is somehow mentally ill.

Imo the value of that scene is to show that those two are a bad match for each other, and also, both are super immature, and he, on top of it, has this ... autism or whatever it is that makes him unable to communicate

what scene was it when ML found ID card with his friend doctor?

Friend doctor seems to be a spy for Chairman, and is SURELY ML's hidden enemy, and also in love with pretty lady doctor, who seems to have something going on with ML. She is too worried about ML with such deep feeling and ML looks at her with those "i'm gonna eat you up" eyes. Did he have an affair with her? or just wanted to? He certainly was her "patient" about divorcing his wife. Was he more than a patient?

Chairman seems to have something dirty going on with that patent, accepting money from VIPs, etc. He probably does super shady stuff - was TJ helping him... ? Is "friend" doctor helping him?
