I really enjoyed it :D It was a bit weird, but it was hilarious and interesting :D It was really hilarious when they sang out a poem in public xD Also, those hats really stood out and made it more hilarious xD
I also liked the past and present mix. At first I thought that Hikaru Genji came from the past, but he actually came from a historical novel. That was interesting :)
It's a shame that the romance was not more developed, but at least the main characters ended up together :)
Also, there are some questions left in the air. Like why did Hikaru Genji and Chujo go in the present world in the first place? And his rival or friend Chujo could go after him? Also, why did Hikaru Genji could go to another place when he was in danger and could go when he thought about that place?
If you really think about this drama in depth, the story has many things left in the air.
However, this drama can be seen as something you want to watch quickly, in a light mood and by enjoying it, as it is. So, since I'm not caring much about the details, I can say I enjoyed this drama and worth watching ^_^
I liked it :) The story was consistent and followed a logical order. Also, I liked all the investigation parts. I also liked the cast, characters, acting, martial art scenes and chemistry between main leads.
I did like it, but I felt that there was something missing, I don't know what though. I cannot complain as for once the story made sense, was consistent and a good story. However, I did pause it multiple times and watched something else in between.
Also, I did watch all full episodes until episode 44. At this point, I got annoyed and impatient and decided to fast forward it to the end.
For the story, there were predictable parts like the plot about Jin Xia's lost family. I knew that she was the lost girl from Aunt Lin's family long ago and the story took quite a long time to get to it.
Also, for the villain. For all that he did, death was too easy for him. If they wanted him dead, they should have killed him long ago.
Yeah, ok they wanted to punish him according to the law, smear his name and ruin his family, but it felt kind of empty just killing him like that.
I wanted to see him get tortured, especially what he did to Jin Xia when he nailed cylinderical objects on her arms and she bled slowly. That was really cruel!
For the King, I really did not like him from the beginning. He thinks that he's a god or something. Just because Lu Yi told him about Jin Xia's family and that her family were not traitors, and the King was wrong, he gave him the death sentence.
Anyway, thanks for Jin Xia's persistence she managed to avoid him from getting killed. Then, some time passed and the King got him out. A happy ending :) We assume that they get married and have lots of kids :D
I really loved the chemistry between the leads. Yeah, they had few kiss scenes, but I did not mind it. Their interactions and acting was really good. I really loved how they worked together well, helped each other, saved each other, that they were equal, relied on each other, etc.
I also loved how they made women be independent, can fight on their own, they do need saving but they save others as well, know how to fight, etc.
The story is a bit long, but if you have patience and do not give up on it, it's worth a watch. I think yeah, you may get bored at times, especially political moments, or you just get bored. However, you just need to take a break from it like I did and then continue it. I really recommend to watch it all.
When do they find out the baby is still alive? Was Bailu in on it?
In ep 31, we still see Tian Jing Zhi sad about her baby's death. However, in the same episode, in the next scene we see Bailu and Jiang Yi Heng discussing about the baby which means the baby is still alive.
Bailu was at first with them because of the organisation and then lots of stuff happened in the following episodes. Then, Qiu Yue Bai forced Bailu to hide it since Jiang Yi Heng convinced him to do it for the organisation.
Then, at one point Bailu did regret it and saw things getting out of hand and then told Xue Ling Qiao.
I loved the acting and chemistry between Fighter and Tutor + Saifah and Zon, they were all so cute and adorable together <3 Also, great kiss scenes <3
However, the story was all over the place. Like how is this a fantasy story in the first place?
Also, the parts where Zon thought that he fell into a BL novel, I don't know what happened to it, and they probably put it aside.
I was confused because in the beginning, we saw many BL couples of past dramas like the main couple of Make it Right and also the main couple of TharnType. I was happy with their guest roles, btw <3
Anyway, Zon's sister, Zol said that they were her imagination and I thought that Zon really fell or the four of them all fell into a BL novel. But as the story went on, they did not fall into a BL novel. That part was confusing.
Also, I was so happy with the relationship of Fighter and Tutor (at least until ep 11).
They were so cute, happy, they discussed issues, dissuced cornerns about their relationship, asked each other multiple times before they kissed and make love, etc.
HOWEVER!!! They had to go and ruin everything in episode 12, where they fell into the typical lakorns scenes where Fighter forced himself on Tutor.
Ok, Tutor should have told Fighter that his dad went to talk to him and try to explain well to avoid Fighter fighting with his dad. Uhh!! I hated episode 12 and I'm like bye.
Also, it's a shame that because of the Covid-19, there were less scenes of Zon and Saifah.
I'm realizing that's probably why they put a forcing scene between Fighter and Tutor, to fill in the parts were Zon and Saifah were supposed to appear in episode 12, as they only appeared few moments in the beginning of episode 12. Uhh!
Moreover, I found episode 12 and 13 to be quite the same, at least in the setting, where they filmed both episodes on beaches.
For Zon and Saifah, no, but we see Fighter and Tutor on a beach again.
Ok, it's probably again because of the Covid-19. As if they planned to filmed indoors, they switched it outdoors to avoid the spread of the virus and also avoid people.
Also, they put many couples. Ok, we have the 2 main couples, but they were many others couples or potential couples, where we barely see on them at the end or we still do not know what happened to them.
Conclusion:
For the romance parts, I give this 10/10.
But for the story overall, I give this 6/10. This story was quite all over the place and confusing.
I agree, these actors appear mostly everywhere in k-dramas. They are all awesome actors with excellent acting skills. Also, they play different characters so well that they leave me in awe each time.
The whole concept of 1year In mortal world is just 1 day in immortal one is a filler made up by the TMOPB production…
Thank you very much for taking your time to explain ^_^ This makes more sense.
I hate it when in the novel it is explained well, but in a live action drama or movie, they change it to something else entirely or change it to something that does not make sense.
Do you know where I can read the book please? Thank you.
I wanted to watch them, but I did not know where to start as there were a lot, however with your article, I will be able to watch them quite easily and understand it better ^_^
currently watching and in beginning of episode 30..... (16/05/2020)
The drama is very interesting and has a good story in general. Also, it started really great and intriguing, especially when they showed us Lee Da II buried and his hand sticking out. It was really creepy and scary, but interesting enough to continue watching.
Moreover, I did not realise he was a ghost at first when we saw him climb out where he was buried in. I found it strange and I was like 'How could he have lived?' But the drama does not give you time to think, so I kept that thought aside.
Then, when he could not touch any other person apart from Jung Yeo Wool, I realised that he was a ghost and that he could have died. My next thought was 'Oh! So the title of the drama, was meant that the detective, aka Lee Da II would be literally a ghost.'
Then they showed us a covered corpse with an unknown identity tag on it, and I realised that probably this was to throw us off and think that Lee Da II is death. So I was right later on, when we see that Lee Da II's body is still alive and I was like 'Yay! He lived! xD'
What I would not have imagined is that the nurse saved him, but he had reasons for it + he felt sorry for what he did in the end + he regretted helping Seon Woo Hye, so he was pitiful.
The plot of the woman in red, aka Seon Woo Hye was intriguing at first, where we want to find out who she is at first, her background, what happened to her, why is she doing all this? Why is she killing people?
We find out that she went through a lot, and wants to see if people are like her parents who chose themselves first and abandoned her (her mother) or tried to kill her (her father).
At first she wanted them to kill themselves, but if some of them resisted, she gave them a choice. Well, at some point, she was right that people would chose themselves first. Why not? We're human and it's the first instinct to save yourselves. If I were there, I would choose myself for sure.
Anyway, the exception was Lee Da II's mother and Jung Yeo Wool's sister who decided to kill themselves to protect Lee Da II and Jung Yeo Wool as they resisted Seon Woo Hye.
That's where Seon Woo Hye probably got confused and maybe wanted to find out what's special or what's different in Lee Da II and Jung Yeo Wool. She got obsessed with them and started involving everyone around them and killing lots of people.
Anyway, whatever her reasons are, I conclude that she got addicted to killing and loved it. After all, she killed random people, either to get their clothes, to cover her tracks, or to tick off Lee Da II and Jung Yeo Wool.
Anyway, the story kept going on in circles and got draggy in the middle. As they could have gotten rid of her multiple times, but for the sake of the story to keep going, Seon Woo Hye always managed to get away with it and leave trails of blood and corpses after her.
To be honest, I paused this drama, many times, as I lost interested or was getting annoyed. But still, I wanted to see how this drama ends and so I kept watching and I did not fast forward any scenes at all. So I'm kind of loving and annoyed at this drama lol.
Also, awesome acting from all the cast. Moreover, great characters, great story overall, creepy ghosts, good music, I loved the parts as Lee Da II as a ghost and seeing him evolve and controlling himself, great teamwork and friendship, etc. I like this drama overall.
And now where I got to in the story, according to Jung Yeo Wool, she stabbed Seon Woo Hye and Seon Woo Hye finally died for good, aka her spirit died for good, as her body was already death.
We don't know what happened for sure, as Jung Yeo Wool offered her body to Seon Woo Hye and the next scene, we see huge light. It feels too easy, but I don't know.
Also, what happened to the cop, Park Jung Dae and Mr Han, did they die? As Gil Chae Won was saying that their wounds are too deep and the conversation ended there and I'm like seriously? Uhh!
I knew it! It was too easy. Seon Woo Hye possessed Jung Yeo Wool and then Lee Da II took her with him in his body. We assume that he died since Gil Chae Won took the respirator off from the real body of Lee Da II.
Btw, the cop, Park Jung Dae and Mr Han are ok and lived, that's a relief. I thought they would kill them off as well.
We'll see what happens next in the last 2 episodes..........
It's a shame that Lee Da II's physical body died. I think that even if he did not sacrifice himself, his body would have still died as he was in a really bad condition.
I'm glad he came back as a ghost, that he was able to control himself and I'm glad that he did not turn into an evil ghost. He uses his powers to help people, especially helping those who are controlled by an evil ghost ^_^
I also love the ending :D They formed an unofficial detective ghost team, calling it code g, where they will solve cases involving other evil ghosts. It would be awesome if they made a second season :D
It took me 2 years to watch it, and I'm glad I finally did. Definitely worth a watch :D
Love your article! :D It's really similar to mine lol, of course the order, the dates, etc are different. I actually started watching asian dramas first, then switched to anime and manga.
I was more cautious than you in BL ;P Like you, I just did not want to see it. I have no idea why. But my curiosity finally took over or I wanted something new. I first started reading manga and then I switched to anime. I fell in love with it, but for some reason, I did not want to watch live action ones. Then in 2018, I tried the first History BL series and fell in love with them and watched lots of them :D
i thought the ML does not forget the FL even after a rain..read it on wetv? i think.but what happens after he…
He did keep on remembering her in the beginning, however she hurt him so much, that after it rained he forgot her. I forgot exactly what she did to hurt him.
Then, if I remember correctly, she tried hard to make him remember her and he fell in love with her again even if he did not remember what happened before.
Finished this drama in a week! I really enjoyed it ^_^
I liked how they showed us different places or realms in this whole drama, where they showed us all the lives or trials Dong Hua and Bai Feng Jiu went through to be together. And yeah it was a lot!
I assuming that their 3 lives are in the mortal realm, in the dream of Aranya and when they finally got together and lived happily ever after.
I found the saddest part was in the mortal realm. The whole thing was tragic, and it was really sad and painful that Bai Feng Jiu had to hurt Dong Hua's shadow, the Emperor Song Xuan Ren. Yeah, it was to help Dong Hua pass his misfortunes and get his power back when he wakes up back to the immortal world. He still kind of failed, since he did not get his full power back.
Also, I really liked Qing Ti and was so sad when he died. I'm glad Bai Feng Jiu managed to revive him with the pimpon fruit. It was a shame, he took a long time to appear again though.
Moreover, yeah ok, the dream of Aranya and Shen Ye was sad as well. However in this part, it was when Dong Hua and Bai Feng Jiu got officially together, so I was happy that they did.
So, I put Aranya and Shen Ye's tragic love story on the side. The sad part was that they were the shadows of Bai Feng Jiu and Dong Hua, so Shen Ye could not revive Aranya. And Shen Ye's love towards Aranya turned into an obsession.
Anyway, Dong Hua could not defeat the evil demon queen alone and thanks to Bai Feng Jiu's help, they defeated her together and they saved their immortal realm + the mortal world.
Overall, great acting, great characters, great cast, great costumes, great martial art scenes, loved the magic parts, loved the costumes, loved the scenery. loved how we get to know different clans and how can they work together despite their differences and loved the story.
I really managed to follow the timeline this time. In Eternal love, of Bai Qian's and Ye Hua's story, the timeline was too confusing for me.
However, in this one I managed to follow it better. Maybe, I was prepared for it this time and concentrated a lot :P Or they made it better. I think it's the latter as I'm bad in maths and in huge numbers ;P
Also, I really loved the chemistry and relationship between Dong Hua and Bai Feng Jiu.
Yeah ok, it's a whole torture. Like she was obsessed with him after he saved her, then when to his palace as a maid, then gave up her fur and tails to save him, then got treated as a pet and got heart broken.
Moreover, she went to help him in the mortal world and got hurt (as immortals cannot use their powers in the mortal world) and then finally met him as her true self because of Bai Qian's and Ye Hua's wedding.
It was then when Dong Hua finally started to notice her, as she acted aloof, ignored him and wanted to avoid him. And he's like, why? As people or women all usually fall in love in him, want to be close to him, etc, he is used to that kind of treatment.
However, I think the part where he fell in love with her, as when she protected him against the evil queen demon. He was in awe, as other always expected him to protect others, but never bothered to protect him.
Yeah ok, he's powerful, but Bai Feng Jiu always did her best to protect him in her own way, even if she knows that he can protect himself on his own and is powerful. You can say she started to help him when she gave up her fur and turned into a fox.
What I found stupid, draggy and annoying is that Dong Hua did not tell Bai Feng Jiu that the evil demon queen was starting to get her power back and can break out of her seal.
So, on the day of their wedding banquet, there were 2 obstacles. These were Ji Heng and the evil demon queen.
For Ji Heng, that part was useless. I would prefer if they made her fall in love with Yan earlier on and not literally leave it to the end of episode 56, for Ji Heng to realise that she actually loves Yan.
I was more happy for Yan that he ended his unrequited love rather than they ended up together lol. In my opinion, Yan deserves better. I really started to like him and got to know him better while he was stuck with Bai Feng Jiu in the Bird Kingdom, in Faynin Valley. He was really cute, loyal, his love and devotion to Ji Heng is admirable, does everything to help his friends and clan, loved his honesty, his rashness, etc. I loved his whole character <3
Then, there was the evil demon queen. Throughout the whole drama, she was plotting to get out of the seal.
She got the Ling Bi Stone / Soul Locking Jade, got the blood drop from Bai Feng Jiu, ate thousands of demons (yeah right, she wanted to revive the demon clan!), took the other blood drop and absorbed lots of evil power.
You can say she succeed until the appearance of Bai Feng Jiu, and where she and Dong Hua defeated her and happy ending.
Ok, I get that Dong Hua did not tell Bai Feng Jiu because she would definitely go with him, and can get hurt, which in the end Bai Feng Jiu did get hurt. However, it got more long, draggy and lots of misunderstandings + it made me angry.
Sorry, but I see it that if you're planning to marry someone, there needs to be honesty + now that they are married, they need to do things together and like he protects her, she protect him as well.
Btw, what I found kind of absurd, is Bai Feng Jiu's pregnancy + the boy grew up. It was too fast!!! Yeah, ok she went to the mortal world, and one day in the immortal world, means 1 year in the mortal world. I don't remember how many days went by in the immortal world, but I assumed 3 days, then 3 years in the immortal world. I don't know, so I'll leave it at that. Too confusing!
Btw, I really like Bai Feng Jiu's character. At first, you think she just a spoiled, protected princess, kind of dumb, who likes to get into trouble, cause problems and needs saving. However, she is more than that.
Yeah, she likes to act spoiled, cause problems and trouble, does need saving at times, innocent, be silly, etc.
But, she can be mature, steps up to help and protect others, can save herself, learns from her mistakes, is knowledgeable, independant, can solve her own problems (like when she signed a marriage contact when drunk) and knows how to fight.
She can have fun, knows how to design mechanisms, knows how to cook, appreciates what she has and appreciates nature, steps up for her friends, she goes beyond than the kindness she receives (like she goes beyond paying back Dong Hua and Qing Ti), can be humble, can be serious, can be calm, can turn situations in her favour, can be witty, etc.
She definitely has more. We see her in different ways many times, that I did not get bored and everytime I see her, I look forward to see what she will do. I laughed with her, feel pain with her, cried with her, got heartbroken, was angry for her, did call her stupid, etc. I loved her character ^_^
Anyway, my conclusion is that this drama is definitely worth a watch + the end :D
I loved it :D It really reminded me of Playful kiss, but this drama was more serious and more better. It was full of cliches, but I loved them all :D
Also, the chemistry between the leads was good, they're really cute together ^_^
Moreover, I loved the medical scenes, where we see Sakura, Tendo and all the medical staff do their best in helping their patients.
I was really sad and cried when a patient who appeared in the 1st and 2nd episode who worked in the selling electronics goods, died. That was really sad.
I also liked Anri and was sad for her that she could not get discharged from the hospital. However, they helped her and she got discharged. I was so happy for her ^_^
I also liked the past and present mix.

For Jung Yi Hyun, Lee Ham Sook decided to go with him to Africa, you can say they ended up together.
For Jeom Soon she meets up again with Um Kyung Sul and he apologizes to her, you can say they end up together.
I was so happy for her ^_^
Definitely worth a watch! xD
Yes, I agree. I wish it ended differently, it was too sad.
I agree, it would be awesome if they did a time travel drama with the same actors :)
