Hmm, I have passed the point of dropping dramas left and right because nothing compares and have moved on to adding "cql after-effect" to notes of the dramas that I watch now because the withdrawal phase is still ongoing BUT at least I am back to watching (and finishing) new dramas xP

I love that boy to death and i wish we had been given some kind of background about him because it makes me very curious about him and his upbringing.

Apologies for butting in, but I just wanted to say that I wholeheartedly agree with this statement. Having recently finished rewatching the show, I realized that it was much more painful to watch it for the second time. Especially the first two episodes, they just hit SO hard when you know what those two went through and who lan yuan is It was hard not to break down while watching it xP

Although just today I started watching Flower of Evil and I must say, it managed to keep my interest for the entirety of the episode so you might want to try that if you are in the mood.

Honestly, if people tried putting themselves in JC's shoes, they would realise that they'd have made more or less the same choices as he did. For example, His confusion and anger over wwx choosing strangers (Wen PoWs) over his own family is valid af. Most of us would have reacted the same way. Granted, there's a lot of miscommunication that could have been handled better but that doesn't change the essence of it all.

I also believe that JC is the most misunderstood character of the series. I feel like people hate on him BECAUSE he is the most relatable out of all of them. He has the most realistic reactions. He represents inherent human weakness and internal conflicts that many of us face. The fact that not many of us will be wei wuxian, putting our lives on the line for people we barely know, or Lan Wangji, going wherever the chaos is but a lot of us are spectators like JC, burdened by the rules, society and politics and doing our damn best to stay afloat with what is given to us.
I just want to give JC a hug because I feel like he needed it the most :(

Same here, actually! Personally, I will never not be grateful for mxtx for giving birth to such a devastatingly beautiful story but cql definitely took it, respected it and lifted it to a plane higher than mortal reach lmao. It's just...wow. Wangxian's relationship dynamics in cql brings tears to my eyes. I love the novel, ofcourse, but cql will always remain special for me.

Yep, I don't doubt his devotion and love for xxc but he did have a moment of weakness that resulted in their fallout. Their story is a tragedy through and through. It's crazy how lwj wanted to be like them but then ended up feeling fortunate that him and wwx DID NOT end up like them. Beautiful, really.
