IMHO it is only fitting OSN holds the top spot. The main draw for me are the true to life characters and how realistic…
Yeah, also because they represent the regular koreans so well, it has sparked an increase in discussions on OSN & korean society in general. Now if only they don't shit on the last two episodes, OSN could be one of the best dramas to grace korean TV screens.
Can y'all believe that OSN snatched the first place in the Most Talked about Drama of the week from Arthdal Chronicles, the drama that literally won Most Anticipated Drama of 2019 award???? Knetz really digging this show lol. Also, Han Jimin and Jung hae In have been fighting for the number one spot since last month xP (Source in case anyone was curious: https://mygooddata.tistory.com/m/783)
I dropped it. The actress is always awesome but the guy can't act. And I don't see the chemistry, I think they…
I blame it on the writing. L is not a phenomenal actor but...he's decent (I have seen his other works). It just that the character of Kim Dan is wayyy over the top for him. Had he been given a more refined, better written character, then maybe I would have felt the chemistry between the leads. Kim Dan and Yeon Soo...just don't click lol. Plus, the plot is a broken record at this point. Did we really watch them going on dates doing "cute" stuff for TWO WHOLE EPISODES??? They could have used that time in developing the other aspects of the story...but oh well. The other two same day airing dramas deserve the rating that this one has but alas they don't feature a flashy story with no substance so they won't get it.
Exactly. I am almost inclined to think that most of the kdramas have been so far removed from reality that us,…
Tbh if not for this drama, the plight of single parents would have flown under my radar. We all know that it's bad but I've never really stopped to consciously think about it. When I read about how Single Korean parents have to give away their kids overseas because a) they have no financial support whatsoever and b) they get ostracized by the very society they live in...my heart broke. Ah I'll forever love OSN for being bigger than just a fluffy romance. Even if it ends badly, I'll still adore it.
As an American this is hard to relate to--our divorce/single-parent rates are so staggeringly bad you'd have to…
Exactly. I am almost inclined to think that most of the kdramas have been so far removed from reality that us, as viewers, tend to forget the issues that persist in SK society. So, when a show like OSN details the life and struggles of regular koreans, we find a bit hard to digest it. But the thing is, every issue that OSN tackles (over involvement of parents, single parenthood stigma, going to any lengths to appease you parent, domestic violence) is real. I get why some non Asians might think it's exaggerated but the reactions, decisions everything is something that can absolutely happen irl here. I guess most people can understand domestic violence because the problem persists all over the world. But the other issues are something exclusive to SEA and tbh I'm beyond happy that they're addressing single parenhood issue because I haven't seen anyone bring light to it in such an amazing manner. Also, Jeong In is lucky she hasn't been disowned LOL
Her friend sum up pretty well what is going on, like it or not she made a good point about the whole relationship…
Mm if you think about people who break away from long term relationships, stuff like this happens. I have seen it happen with people irl so I don't think it's an exaggeration at all. Plus, GS has unresolved daddy issues that have made him an even worse ex partner. As for their dads, Jeong In's father is a typical orthodox patriarch (the likes of whom are sadly way too common in SK & other SEA countries) and GS's dad is a manipulative businessman who only thinks of people as puppets (albeit I can tolerate him a bit more than JI's dad.) So, idk what you were looking for in this drama but SO FAR it's been a very beautiful, realistic depiction of minimalist romance coupled with social issues.
I am desperately hoping that Jeong In has an ace up her sleeve and all that crap we saw in the preview is just part of her plan in taking down annoying Gi Seok because I'm not sure if my heart can handle things otherwise

Lmaoo
Because if things are really going to be like it's shown in the preview, I will unstan Jeong In lol
