Title AMO
Story was okay, but I liked how this was filmed, particularly how it captured the grittiness of the slums of Manila, life of poverty, and overcrowded prisons. It kind of reminded me of On The Job, which is also a gritty film about crime and corruption.

I've been getting better at dropping dramas recently. The only thing that really keeps me going is....

1. I NEED to know how the drama ends. (curiosity killed the cat.)
2. I want to give the drama a fair rating by watching all of it. I feel guilty for rating a drama that I've dropped.

But overall, I've been getting better at the spring cleaning since one of my goals this year is to tackle my Plan to Watch and On Hold lists.

I love the whole America this America that. It’s so prejudice. First, these are not the values of Americans,…
For the most part, Chinese dramas make Americans (and foreigners) seem terrible. There's blatantly obvious Chinese nationalism, which is okay to some degree, but not to the point where they put down other's values. It's unfortunately not going to go away until creative content stops being censored and regulated by the govt. to meet the Chinese govt.'s agenda.

I actually want romance, because so many bad guys are given life that doesn't include romance and it makes me…
There's like an 80% chance it will have some romance. :) The synopsis says the ML is looking for love. I'm just really bad at dealing with romances with sad endings. T-T I hope things work out between the two.

Sounds super interesting. Hope it isn't a romance because it seems like it's going to end badly for the ML. Hope he makes it out alive and avoids jail for his past actions.

I think most of the questions have been answered already, but I'll take my crack at some of the questions.

3. Cdramas, particularly historical cdramas, will introduce tons of characters in families/clans in order to develop subplots. Keep in mind these dramas are a LOT longer ranging from 40-60 episodes. They need filler subplots to keep the drama going. Also, more characters = more drama. The main reason most people watch these shows is for the drama. Last but not least, many of these cdramas (especially wuxias and xianxias) are based off a novel, so the writers try to do their best of including all the characters, but sometimes the pacing of the character introductions can be a little overwhelming.

10. Coughing blood is a very obvious way of showing a character is unwell...especially for things like qi. Let's face it, many Chinese actors have an exaggerated form of acting, so things will be exaggerated for the audiences to understand better (maybe similar to that of stage acting?). I feel like they dumb things down for the audiences sometimes. From my experience, coughing blood = character is so unwell they are close to dying. Maybe a nosebleed for things that are less intense like insomnia? But yeah, things like a common fever aren't dramatic enough unless it's a "modern" cdrama. It really just depends on the genre. Historical/Wuxia/Xianxa dramas are more dramatic and exaggerated.

Another great article! Boxing is kind of reminds me of the concept of framing in photography. Aside from the aesthetics, I will try to pay attention to if there's any meaning behind the scenes/shots next time.

Did you find a place to watch the drama with eng subs for episodes 10-35?
Yes, see Lan_Lan's comment below.

Yes same same. Which one of the writers? Im personally skeptical of the one who wrote Sec.Kim as I found that…
Lee Myung Seok...the one who wrote Heartstrings. Choi Bo Rim has written some pretty solid romantic comedies imo, but then again that is my personal preference. A lot of people did not like Sec. Kim for the cute fluffiness.

I'm curious to see how the Legal High remake will do. Witch's Court got a lot of hate for being about a selfish lawyer, but then again maybe people have double standards for female characters. :/

Excited for the cast, but I'm going to hold my thoughts until it actually airs. I'm not a fan of one of the writers.
