Now that I have finally read it, you NAILED IT Anna! Seriously! I also first watched him in Ikebukuro and I was like "who is this crazy oddball?" and that oddball and that character is memorable for me to this day!
In Lipstic, his role might've been supportive, but that kind of fearless, dangerous yet free spirited teenager, I loved what they did with his character from the beginning to the end.
Long Love Letter isn't his most complicated role compared to others, but I loved him there and as you said the drama itself is fantastic.

Go was one of my first Japanese movies, and what a ride it was. It was also reflective, and had much to say about society, through the craziness of youth of different nationalities.

Monster Club was a gift: Kubozuka Yosuke + Eita on screen together? YES PLEASE! The movie was weird but original, and really rested on talent such as these. And their chemistry was spot on from the first moment!

I loved him in Sanbun no Ichi, he stole the show for me too! I mean it really didn't matter who was the lead I was only watching him.

Again such a great stalker guide Anna! I already added a couple of his movies in me PTW while I was reading XD

When I saw his face I'm like "Oh Yes! YES! Finally someone did a stalker guide for this guy, and I had a feeling it would be you, so I wasn't surprised. I'll read it a bit later when I can give it 100% attention just wanted to express how happy I am to see this :D

Title Siren Spoiler
I feel so sorry for Satomi, at least Ai and Rena still believe him, I really like those two. Damn Kara is one…
I'm only at episode 5 and can't bring myself to watch more cuz I find them both disappointing. Sorry but Yuki is a big idiot, and she certainly doesn't deserve to be promoted to the to first division! And Satomi might be good and connecting the dots, but he sure is incapable of handling the situation on his own.

I'm reading and having too much love, experiencing this drama all over again. Wonderful review M, as I said so…
Thanks as always for the encouragement and input :D I think I really exaggerated the length this time, but couldn't help up. I actually had to hold myself from writing even more. Honestly each and every character in the drama deserves a whole essay, from the simplistic Fei Liu to the compliated emperor! I'm still in a trance living in this drama XD

Can anyone explain me one thing? The old guy that had been left alone in the forest and allegedly died, in the…
I think the sneaker part is left "open ended" as in we know who killed them but they need proof. As for the old guy, I didn't get WHY they did it, but apparently they faked his death with the help of Seo Chang Gwon :S

OMG I can't believe that the beautiful OST was sung by the actors!!! It's impressive that they're soo talented…
I didn't realize it either until I found the official MVs on youtube (and shared them here). It adds so many layers to the lyrics when we're seeing them actually singing it ;)

So happy to see that SOMEONE is watching this! I felt I was the only one! Every time Aki takes crap from the women…
I realized as well not many people know of it, and honestly unless you watch you wouldn't know what you're missing out. Well that's what I'm here for ;)

Makes me want to watch it, especially for Michiko.
She's really cute here! We don't see her much in the first episode but don't worry, she will have more than her fair share afterwards ;)

Great article M, you said all that I\m thinking about this drama. Really refreshing with great chemistry and mature…
Glad you liked it :D It's the type of drama where you'll find its worth only by giving it a try. Its main attraction is its talented cast & you're right Eguchi-san IS adorable

What I missed the moment you posted your review? I got too preoccupied but now so glad I had the chance to read it! :D Great review as always, making us go through the same feeling you went through watching AND reminding me of all I felt when I was watching.

One other thing, the way you describe the characters is spot on! I only got a couple of episodes left to watch. On one hand can't wait to see what happens! On the other, I don't want to leave this world!

I think a huge part of the appeal in dramas like this (to me at least) is that they feature characters and places…
You expressed it better than me. That is exactly how I feel about the characters and WHY they appeal to me.

Interesting subject! I have a long list of dropped dramas, but back in 2014, I decided not to drop anymore and finish the drama no matter what. Then My Secret Hotel happened. I finished it but cursed myself for doing so. I hated it way too much. I gave up that rule I put on myself then :P

The one trope I cannot stand is: Noble Idiocy!! It's my most hated more selfish act a dumb character can do to feel good about themselves!!

You mentioned a couple of good ones, like Plots that make no sense, Ridiculously cruel, spoiled or irritating male/female leads. Depending on the situation, I find such female leads irritate me even more. Not that I'm very forgiving of such male leads, but it all depends on the situation.

Some tropes that may not make me drop but rate down the drama is OUT OF NOWHERE birth secret. I don't mind Birth Secrets per se, but when it's there just to add more makjang so just show thought they are so smart than it actually is. Also when characters suddenly treat that sibling with the birth secret as a stranger. Again it goes back to the non-sensical plot. Same goes for terminal illness.

I can take violence to a certain degree but what I abhor most is when it gets glossed over! I just can't stand it!

Most of the time I know myself and just don't start dramas I can't stand. It happens once in a while. If I don't look forward to watching it, I drop. If there is a story line I'm curious about, I skip watch. I have no problem skipping scenes :P

I became more excited to watch this when you said that it's more character-driven than story-driven. I find stories…
Having a good plot isn't a bad thing, but at least once in a while we need those types of dramas. It isn't about what's going to happen next, but about meeting people going about their life. As I said in other comments, I find it self-reflective. In a way, very refreshing. And the dialogs are so carefully written. Simple yet effective.

Comments like that always makes me want to write more, so happy you enjoyed it :D

I felt almost like it was me who wrote this article. I feel the same about this drama. I like dramas that actually…
I guess this drama brings to us the same feeling ;) It is exactly as you say, each episode makes me reflect on myself and where I am in life.
