@oneterrorist - great opening cliff notes for a F40 drama. Enjoyed this drama and somewhere in the viewing, I felt like I was watching the antithesis of Sex in the City w better storyline focused on male life issues. GD explored life&issues; for people over 40, something rarely illustrated in kdrama world.

A goofy commoner with an extraordinary sense of smell & talent for fish buns runs a food stall in early times. He, his sidekick,incognito female chef & medicine woman haphazardly befriend Prince Yin and their life changes as they get involved in palace politics,soothing of lives through simple common folk metaphors, yearning for love (lite), and FOOD. This is a VERY light series and should be classified as COMEDY, Historical and lastly drama. If you are needing something to lite and silly & like historical time periods, this might do for you. For any food-ee, this might entertain if you can handle silly, goofy antics as side dishes.

The bad taste left in my mouth with this one was that beastly child & girl Lahee. When the child prince whipped her with that branch and called her a vicious wench (not the first time this child has heard that), she remained a poisonous wench for the rest of the story for me. Most manly, desirable character - Gen.WangHol Nice filler while waiting for KI to roll-out.

Now I'm current on the mega story- so here my thoughts. A. Empress is crazy, delusional and just bats@$t nuts. B. El Tem's entire family is bats&!t insane especially oldest son. C. When does world learn Emp is infertile, baby was snatched, and she never knock boots w Empr? D.want guard Yom & empress maid #2 to die painfully and soon-they both are the epitome of cravenness. E. Ki is one tough sister - jackal, as for her loves she will always have love spot for Wang (who wouldn't) but her strength is maximized by boy child Emperor. This proves that it takes a good, strong woman behind & in front of any successful man. If all else fails, TalTal is one smart smooth man!

You can't beat his swagger or manliness, even Emperor recognizes. He is deep water!

Tana, I have fondly renamed as: infertile myrtle w Daddy issues. Ready for her to go away in very ugly way to pay her back for all the hell she has reeked.

drama net has 45 they condensed some - full drama! Love wins - evil does die, well kinda of...

Have been looking for many of the jdrama listed and many are not subtitled. Overlooked and just quirky, Jdrama Share house *. Loved it, took weeks for ep to show subbed.

Cheerful - I am stunned by the choices of these awards and the lack of vision however my biggest disappointment was NO mention of GHJ, a real actress. Loved your write-up!

Discussing Kdrama w non-watchers is like deer in headlights stare followed by why. Great article & yes this addiction to J, Kdrama and so many more is fun, twisted and entertaining.

YSY was in a more grown-up role in this & he did well & I liked him. To date-just not seen him in anything heavy - sad...

Well done listing @cityhunter8! TU for listing KoD, solid work & acting was overshadowed by glitzy works. Lots of disappointment this year of silly dramas that I found just too yeeeew! CA -disappointment and waste of talent. FBND-slow, pointless and disappointment. Others just not my cup time... Most disappoint was H-they had a stacked deck of smexy cast Yet, still trying find the point of story, grown smexy men playing rich , broody and angst teens is not fun. Well 2014 might be different?
