I enjoyed it though me and my brother did rip on it also. My only complaint was they kind of had to squash several story lines together. I really feel like they captured the emotion of the manga and anime (got a little teary-eyed about Ichigo's mom and Rukia leaving). My favorite part was Hana, who is also my favorite actress. Personally, I was happy that they opted not to give her that ridiculous hairstyle that could only work in the manga and anime.

I feel like the storyline could've been good if it focused on Meizuo. For a few episodes it seemed like Caina was the main character lol

Xiaoyou actually does not know what Ximen's first love looks like. She only knows her nickname, which is Xiao Geng. Cutting her hair short is meant to symbolize her love for Ximen ending. This is a common thing in manga. Nevertheless, I don't think her new haircut suits her.

Aug 29 is the date the last episode airs in China. All the episodes will probably be on Netflix around Aug 31 (though I can't confirm this and also depending on where you're from).

I understand how you feel, even though I'm one of those people constantly comparing it to other versions lol. I think this only gets in the way of enjoying the show if you let it (and I think a lot of people are). The comparisons only annoy me when I can tell the person hasn't read the manga.

I had high expectations for this drama since I've been following its development for a year. I also expected a lot of changes and I am very pleased with a lot of them. Overall, I think this version improves on the manga's weaknesses while also being quite faithful to the plot. For this reason, this version is now my second favorite.

You have to expect comparisons when remaking a popular story. (You don't remake Pride and Prejudice without expecting everyone to compare it to the Colin Firth version.) I'm sure even the producers considered this. They've evidently tried to top all the versions before it. Whether they have or not remains to be in my opinion, though I'm honestly enjoying it so far.

@TheCoffeePrincess I agree with opinions 100%. So far, they've ruined about three arcs of the manga, including the intro tbh. The bullying part is completely necessary to the story to show the lead girl's strength. Changing this part kinda ruins the premise, though they probably assumed everyone is already familiar with it.

Personally, I still like this remake since its shown parts that the other versions skipped. My favorite will always remain HYD, and MatsuJun and Mao will always be the only Domyoji and Makino in my heart.

I won't spoil it all for you but based on the manga, Ximen has some major issues with serious relationships. Ximen's and Xiaoyou's storyline is probably coming up real soon! I can't wait :)

It was kinda interesting to see something different at first, but now it's just annoying! I can't wait for Ximen's Xiao You's storyline too. They're so cute :)

Since the version is following the manga closely, I'm assuming that Si will also get amnesia. Though it won't happen for a while (probably somewhere around the last ten eps)

They kind of ruined the fishing village arc :/ I personally feel it was one of the more important parts for Tsukushi's (Shan Cai) character. The J-drama actually skipped most of the manga and a lot of the points RouteVenus mentioned don't happen in the manga (including the film - though the deserted island is a nod to the manga).

Since this version is following the manga it still has a long way to go. :
1) Amon arc - Tsukushi meets a Tsukasa (Ah Si) look-alike who also claims to be his cousin. (my fave arc actually)
2) Tsukushi and Tsukasa become a couple again and try to keep it a secret
3) Yuki (Xiao You) begins to seriously pursue her crush on Sojiro (Xi Men). This one kinda happens around the same time as #2.
4) New York arc (which will definitely happen in London like jah433 said)
5) Deserted island (which only lasts about one volume).
6) Yes, the dreaded Amnesia Arc.
7) Wrapping up Sojiro's (Xi Men) storyline with Yuki (Xiao You) and first love Sara (Xiao Geng).
8) F4's graduation

I feel the same way >_< she's become so annoying. It would've been fine if Cai Na's storyline was two episodes, but they've been dragging it out for almost ten now...
