The empress knew, the consort knew. the dowager knew, the dowager servant knew(the one currently in the palace and the one who then started serving the empress and the eunuch knew. THEY ALL KNEW he wasn't the correct emperor even if they all learnt at a much later time than shen yi and the prince, they still knew and they did nothing, everyone pretended as if they didn't. While there's hardly anything the servants could've done the empress, dowager and the consort could've had a discussion to do something. There's too many things that have been said by the empress and the dowager for ya'll to say they didn't know....Shen Wan even said that's the reason the Dowager kept getting sick. They all covered all a murder and because of that one decision that they seeminly did for a greater cause several princes died, several people lost their family members and people who were suppose to have a normally life ended up seeking revenge and lossing themself in the process. THOSE ARE THE FACTS.

They made a wrong choice and that's okay to admit, we've seen too many dramas with the roles reverse and the ML/FL coming to seek revenge because of the same reason for ya'll be acting a damn fool as if it's unfathomable.

Ummm…… they sought him out as a villain even before he attempted to kill Yan Li so what are you even saying? Not a single person saw from his point of view or why he went to such great lengths. Literally all the important people around him knew how he lost his sight and how his mother and father died and everyone covered it up. I’d call him a sage for not going on a rampage of whipping out the king entire family, way better than me cause I would’ve killed everyone around him he cared for and only leave him barely alive to see it!

the last few episode of this show were severely poorly written. They were able to sympathize with the gurl who took revenge on all the perp in the Gold Heist but somehow Yang Ze is some kind of vile unfathomable villian for wanting to avenge his dead mother and father??? I tried to understand....I really did but no matter at what handle I look at it, everyone who covered for the fake emperor should've been killed to atone for all the deaths their poor decision making caused. Three young children lost their mothers and father, A queen, a dowager/mother, several princes and a country lost their ruler. Because of that one decision they made several people who should've been able to live a normal life ended up taking the part of vengeance and it's all the empress dowager, Shen Yi and Prince Jin fault. I cannot understand how they understood releasing the truth about the kig killing a consort would cause uproar but couldn't understand that if he could kill a consort who was btw his absolute favorite of all his wifes who and what else could he not kill. Like okay they covered up him killing the consort to prevent chaos fine but nobody started to think twice after Prince Jin and Shen Yi were murdered? Did it not occur to anyone right then and their that the decision they made was a poor choice and start to nip it in the bud right then and there? In my opinion they should've poison him if they couldn't bare to kill him, poison just enough to where he's unable to rule then have one of the other princes be emperor while the queen or dowager serve as regent.

He had already killed two persons and scarred a child....The consort and his brother furthermore killing another prince/emperor should've been where they drew the line and came to terms that someone who was able to live up a blade against his kin that easily should never be King....Ya'll the ones disagreeing with me. not a single sane person I know kills the innocent....especially people who made effort to save you....ONLY A MAD MAN WOULD DO THAT. he was a mad king....making excuses for him won't chnage that. he enabled those around him to fight and kill eachother...he even enabled his son to kill his brother, killed another one of his brother, killed that princess who saves his life, poision, kill, enable that's all he did behind the seen. H was most definitely mad and verybody knew it but covered it up...

He still covered up for a murderer.....the simplest way to resolve the issue had they not want to publicize it was to have him abdicate under the guise of illness or something else. The king was still very fairly new in taking the throne, his network wasn't yet as big and even so keeping a mad king to rule simple because you want to prevent chaos as been in the dummies decision made base on the recent events. Because of that decision looked at how many died? Look at how many came to seek revenge...It's not has hard as you think to get a king to abdicate once the whole court is in agreeance as well as the general public. They were wrong and her father and prince jin were no victims. they reap what they sowed trying to protect something that need not protection. They died because of that decision. ion know why they thought they would've survive given the kings previous actions.

I'm so confused....So her father and prince Jin did cover up a murder....It simply does not matter why he had to do what he did, there were several other ways he could've resolved. He probably would've died either way but aleats the truth wouldn't have been covered up until now. I'm 100% sure that if he had spready the news through the capital and rural areas far and wide, they could've atleast had him usurp/abdicate cause literally no one would've been on his, the king side. the court would've turned against him, the people would've turned against him that would've force the hands of the empress dowager....Either way I haven't reach the ending yet so i'm sure if there's more to the story but her father as well as Prince Jin were wrong base on the part i've sen so far.


EDIT: Not arguing with anybody bruh. The king murdered killed people, poison people, and enable others to kill eachother...That mf'er was definitely mad out of his mind and what did those around him do? they left his ass untouch....espite knowing how God awful he was they left him untouch for their own sweet benefits or under the guise of preventing chaos. This ultimately led too many people to their early demise for me to agree in any shame or form that what Prince Jin and Shen Yi did was the correct decision. Every single big name in court had a clique of supporters behind them but no efforts were spared to try and eleminate the threat. And because of this just like dominoes several of the unfolding events were cause by that past decision. None of them were innocent, all deserve what happened to them since there decision unknowinly cause the death of several innocent. I know all the actresses and actors especially the side characters who has played more than one roles, they just haven't acted together except from the general and ML. I,MYSELF still think they look alike/similar nothing to do with whether their memorable or not!

Ummm....I might be misunderstanding you but I was simply referring to natural features such as facial structure and body size/shapes. It is also true thouh that the depictions aren't necessarily accurate but at the same time Asians naturally do not carry alot of body hairs so they get a pass

The side characters I mean, bruh I could've sworn I saw several people playing different roles but I know that can't be. The empress dowager and the grand aunt looks so similar it was only after seeing them both in the same place did i realize it wasn't the same actress

I honestly feel like this is being judge too harshly, from the very first episode it’s obvious that it’s mean to be light hearted romance with a bit of fantasy/supernatural. I felt that they stayed on theme and kept the pace really well for the story to flow evenly without missing too much details from the webtoon. It’s obvious this wasn’t made to be an “award winning” series too; in a sense where I don’t think it’s meant to be brilliant or give that WOW effect but still had the right amount of sauce for fans of the webtoon as well as the actors/actress to fawn over and enjoy. I think we got just the right enough of fillers, romance, mystery and fantasy, FOR ME, it was balanced really well. A solid 8.3/10!
