I didn't read the novel and the drama is very different from it. For example, CH and SQ are not characters in the novel. I think how Orchid ending up at the Haotian Tower, reviving DFQC, and placing the Heart curse are all planned by her master. There are hints that suggests this. I think Si Ming is sad that Orchid only has one same fate (suicide to save everyone) while others can have many fate (according to the Great Turtle.) Si Ming is not a woman who obeys the rules, so she naturally hopes that Orchid can get real happiness.

Si Ming (God of Fate) used her pen (or brush) to draw the events and details for Orchid and DFQC to meet and fall in love because she wanted to rewrite Orchid’s tragic fate. (This was hinted to us when CH and DFQC went to Si Ming for help to bring back Orchid). She chose DFQC because she knew he is only one capable to save/protect her (and is good boyfriend material). CH was too young (compared to DFQC), bound by his duty, and under the thumb of his brother. He even threw her under the bus to appease him. Dude was clueless his bff of thousand years is a killing machine. Even the flower spirit at Arbitor Hall hinted at him Orchid is in danger, “no one is here to burn down the green house….do you want to look around for her?” Of course he doesn’t. For this, Si Ming had to strike CH off as a deserving boyfriend and give Orchid’s destiny book to DFQC.
I’ve watched her in the wonderland variety show not too long ago and still have a hard time liking her personality. I know everyone makes mistakes but she is deliberate and it goes beyond the 2016 grade show. I’m sure she's surrounded of people who have the same profession as her, she should've gotten an idea of the work ethics and what one should not do.
