Geez - why would they narrate a Zhao Xun movie when she can convey it in her acting???
My sentiments exactly. I could only come up with two reasons. Turns out she was telling her story to someone at the end. The other is so she didn’t come across as utterly clueless, giving reasons for hooking up with this shady guy. The whole premise was foreshadowed early on but she refused to believe it. I found the technique distracting, distancing, and ultimately annoying. Narration used judiciously can enhance a story but this was overkill for me.
