Yoojung's style of manipulating people: He subtly guides events and then steps back to enjoy the wreck that they…
@Domo I like the realistic aspect of your comment. You are bringing this taboo character and molding it into society, and I couldn't agree more. We always view socipath behavior as murderous villains when in reality, they are living amongst us in society and in very small instances do they crack.
I remember in the 1970 there was a famous murderer here who went by the name of Ted Bundy. He was law student at a prestigious university, he was extremely smart, and pleasant on the surface to everyone. His true dark nature appeared when he was and women, if they didn't fit into a specific mold that he believed, he raped and killed them without feeling regret or shame.
What will take this character, Yoojung, to be pushed to the edge as well?
i think jung isn't really that bad, I'm thinking they won't explain it till the end that he is good after all.…
I agree 100% with you about the affects of the hallyu wave on Asian society, and not just Korean society. But what differentiates them than here in the U.S. for example? Where this is Hollywood land of the glitter glamour and beauty. In America, we are dealing with eating issues such as aneroxia, bulimia, etc people everywhere are dying to be thin and beautiful, and unfortunately it's because of what the media feeds our brain and sets the bar too high for standard beauty in society.
It's such a shame really, that when you looked at the number it was both of these countries suffering from people wanting to end their lives because society is too unbearable :(
MAJOR SPOILER FROM WEBTOON
About Jung's personality, actually he has some mental issues
@oyaaaji @mugilock @@riiniemeanie I'm LOVING this discussion suo much because of all the psychological aspects. You know in psychology we learned about this, nurture vs. Nature, what makes a monster the way he is? Is he born that way, or did society help shape him into becoming this way.
And in Yoojung's case, he was born a bit different, he felt alienated with everyone and anything around him. He learned about people taking advantage of him since he was young, he even mentioned it to seol "it's much easier to have people get their way" and in a way he became "cold"emotionally. Because no one provided LOVE, they only took it from him.
This is why Yoojung is a sad and helpless character. Society (including his father) was a big factor in how Yoojung became the way he is

@Domo wow, I though S.K was the highest in Asia? the things they show in dramas are they trying to make it more acceptable that the rich chaebol CAN marry the poor innocent girl?
I never thought Japan cared about LOOKS as much as S.K but that is because I never read netizens or met with japanese people to know how their culture is, I Just never got that vibe from watching their dramas though, so sad.
MAJOR SPOILER FROM WEBTOON

Exactly, and I think this is why I love this drama. He is a DIFFERENT character, and almost REAL with all his behavior and psychological issues. It's a great take on how society shapes us into become who we are.
But just a small question, that whole Seol heard everything and accepted it, should we assume she accepted it? because initially she didn't want him to touch her. I know later on she assumed he had good intentions, but I think the way the scene was directed, it was to make us the audience, believe that she didn't accept that action that Yoojung did.
The household he grew up, even though his father had his best interest at heart, it was because of the way he handled the situation, that all three kids grew apart and became angry at society for taking advantage of them.
I hope this drama gives all the characters a happy ending, whether it be Yoojung, InHo or anybody else.

lol ok you had me worried there for a sec :D
But, you see things you are describing about Yoojung could affect any child or adult even. When you constantly feel like you are getting used, you will use those weaknesses to your advantage and make these people suffer.
I don't think the drama is encouraging or praising such a character, and this is why the "creepy" music comes on when Yoojung does something "socially unacceptable".

About Jung's personality, actually he has some mental issues
wow that is a major spoiler, and I love that he simply wasn't just "misunderstood" I love the fact that he does have psychological issues, and behavioral issues, and he needs to deal with them accordingly.
I'm just scared that they might give him a sad end though :( (like he will be put away in an asylum, and the last scene would be him holding a little bug in his hand and looking at it in admiration...
OST 4 Lyrics describe how Yoojung thinks of Seol, perfectly, I love this song "Vanilla Acoustic: Our Time"…
Your welcome @desertbanshee :) I think her "cold smile" is when she was treating him suspiciously in the first year, it wasn't a warm smile like it is now :) (i think )
Enjoyable drama so far with a certain nice atmosphere but a bit too childish / binary in some ways. side stories…
@Selty lol you described things that only happen in kdramas "cannot kiss before wedding" I actually love that aspect so much about kdramas, because it's not only focused on the physical aspect but the emotional bond between two people. This is REALISTIC for their conservative society. I'm not saying that pre-martial relationships don't occur, but they are not widely accepted. :)
The drama is more about the psychological relationship between people and how each one deals with their own problems and situations.

♫ ♬ I still couldn't say anything
When I looked at you
I pretended as if it was nothing
As if I didn’t care
Actually, I’m someone like this.
[Chorus]
Truthfully in that time I was longing for you..❤
Your passing look, your cold smile
Sometimes, they make me run out of breath
We keep missing each other
You and I, our time
You’re like the sun inside of me
That I hope will rise in the night sky
Actually, I’m someone
Who spent so much time wanting you
Your passing look, your cold smile
Sometimes, they make me run out of breath
These small trembling, this heart fluttering
They are like gifts to me, they make me see you again
It’s just feelings that I can’t throw away
But my whole world is filled with you
Actually, I’m someone
Who spent so much time wanting you
Your passing look, your cold smile
They stop me from going to you ♫ ♬
tvN should have help that silly show, where fans come and yell and insult the characters but only with In Ha there…
@oyaaaji yes exactly like you described InHo. When I stated that "he never worked hard" I was referring to his past self. And although i wholeheartedly agree with everything you said about the hard-working person he was/is. I can't forget what he told seol on the bus
"What does it mean to work hard" or "why does one work hard"
i think jung isn't really that bad, I'm thinking they won't explain it till the end that he is good after all.…
Bullying is so scary no matter where you go honestly. I thought korea had it bad? And that is why the suicide rate is pretty high. But you are saying Japan is even worse? So heart breaking honestly :(
Gaaaaah. I loved the scene wherein In Ho and Seol were playing piano together. They looked so cute and adorable!…
You are right, that would have been the prefect timing. But, her personality is someone who is weak and goes with the crowd. I think when she saw the whole the group didn't do the work, she followed in their footsteps

Does InHa ever become better in the webtoon?

or I'm just looking too into it? lol
And I was so excited too about the release of OUR TIME, it was my favorite OST since Yoojung followed Seol into our hearts :P
