Five Stars

This drama will be the death of me. OMG it can't be more perfect, and sad, and beautiful. I want to watch this characters forever!!

Ten million points for making me cry for the first time because of a romantic love story.

I just watched this episode and I can't manage to be coherent enough to write more than this. One thing I'll say: I'm going to rewatch this as soon as I can.

I really liked how human and honest Saimdang's…

I really liked how human and honest Saimdang's conversation with her husband was. It was perfect. But I'm still wondering why she won't divorce him?? I'm guessing it's to protect Lee Gyeom, but why is it again? I never really understood the reason for that... and I don't know if it's still important now. I hate when the drama creates obstacles so the pairing isn't together until the very last episode (if ever).

I knew Lee Gyeom would buy all her paintings back, but it still moved me anyway. I hope they get together... it would be so frustrating if they can't be together by the end. Ugh. And I don't think they getting together in modern times is going to satisfy me, because Ji Yoon isn't Saimdang and Rade isn't Lee Gyeom, even if the actors are the same.

Also, I really like the friendship between the main character and the chubby woman. But I think the drama should flesh out more the supporting characters... though this isn't a character driven drama, so the plot takes precedence over developing the other characters storylines.

Four Stars

This episode wasn't so action packed as the previous one. I think it was laying the foundation for the next stage of the story.

Ji Yoon's problems are pilling up one on top of the other. After losing her job, the original Mount Samdong paiting, she finds out her husband may be dead and her son has a nervous collapse. She goes back to her father's house to try to heal her son... what will happened next? My guess is that Evil Teacher (looking at the cast list I noticed his last name is Min, same as the villain from Saimdang's time Min Chi Hyong.. coincidence?) never destroyed the original painting. But what is he planning to do with it? Probably some deal with the gallery owner.

So, Saimdang finds out her husband is cheating on her. I actually think he and the tavern owner deserve each other and make a good pairing.. he and Saimdang were never meant to be in the first place. It's a little predictable that this is happening so Saimdang can be with Lee Gyeom (at least, I hope so), but satisfying to see how one things ties with another... now the envious Tavern owner and the idiot husband will sell Saimdang's painting and she'll probably be even more famous? And what is the purpose of the princess (have we seen her somewhere in the previous episodes? I can't remember) wanting to have Saimdang as her art teacher? How is this going to tie with the rest of the story.

*spoilers*

The first half of the episode focuses on the modern era story. So much betrayal for money interest going around.. ugh.

The corrupt president makes the evil teacher burn the original painting in front of the screaming trio and gallery owner.

Seo Ji Woo's husband is betrayed by his friend and suffers a car accident.

Back in Saimdang's time, she finally wins the competition after drawing a fruit tree using red fruits's juice.

There's a time jump two years to the future where we see Saimdang's and all the drifters have set up a village (I wonder how.. must have the back up of the kind, surely) and her husband is nowhere to be seen. I predict infidelity with the tavern owner.

Lee Gyeom sees the japanese trying to capture some women and rescues them.

I don't know who says this drama is boring. In every episode a lot of things are happening and they all end in cliffhangers. I'd be annoyed with that is I had to wait one week to see what happened next... that's why I waited until the series finished airing before watching the second half of this drama.

I really want to know how the modern day's characters will solve their problems.

Well, a lot happened in this episode.

Saimdang and the Evil-Guy found out how to make the paper at the same time using the help of scholars to solve the poem/riddle written behind the painting.

After many attempts, they finally were able to make the paper and entered the competition, despite the traitor burning their factory down.

Back to present time, the stupid students are still following the evil teacher (I don't know why I can't remember everybody else's name who isn't Saimdang and Lee Gyom)... WTF are they so brainless??? The last straw is helping the evil teacher steal the real Mount Gumgam painting. I just want to tear all their hair out, I'm so angry!

I don't have much patience for dramas that the main protagonist suffer 95% of the time and only have a happy ending (if we get one)... Life isn't all suffering, neither is it all flowers... I think a drama should have a balance of good and bad things happening to the characters throughout the show. I'm sticking with this one because I care about Saimdang, but I feel so tempted to fast forward or jump to the last episode...
