im kind of only watching this because i want to see the purple eye guy but he is in barely any scenes. when does he actually become part of a story arch (instead of just a person who shows up for 5 seconds)?

not every gay story has to be a porno.
I'm not sure why you keep on trying to imply that I have a problem with sex. My point was NOT about whether or not sex scenes were okay. I'm NOT saying that a show is going to get less viewers if it has sex scenes. My point was that there shouldn't be a restriction on storytelling based on whether or not they include sex. You saying that stories should have sex scenes or the producers are cowards is saying that queer stories can only be proud and queer if they have sex scenes. Which is why I said, "not every gay story needs to be a porno"

Yes, of course you can have stories with sex or about sex with interesting and dynamic characters/storlines, but that wasn't my point. Me liking queer stories that don't have sex scenes is less about wanting to be like straight people, and more about wanting to see a diverse range of storytelling that we have historically been deprived of. And me liking queer stories without sex scenes doesn't mean I don't also like queer stories with sex scenes. I am NOT saying that there should never be sex scenes in queer stories.

I can totally understand how you feel that cultures are afraid to show intimate scenes. There are so many examples of characters losing their queerness when translated, or writers getting exiled/arrested for telling queer stories. It can feel shitty when our signs of affection are hidden to please a straight audience. That's why I hate queerbaiting.

Your comment on the old school queer stories hit home tbh. I read stories, or watched movies thinking "I guess if you are gay/trans you'll never live a happy life" because they were all tragedies! But the reason why I hate the narrative that all queers die at the end is why I hate the idea that all queer stories need sex scenes. I don't like boxing queer people into rules that restrict what kinds of stories we can tell.

But hey, maybe I'm missing something here. I'll watch 2gether at some point. If you look for the tag "mature," it might be easier to find stories with sex in them so you won't run into this problem again.

To be clear, that isn't to say that there aren't some stories that have sex and are good! There are. One of my favorites is The Handmaiden. I'm just saying, just because a story doesn't have sex, doesn't mean the producers are cowards. It's a big step just to tell queer stories in the first place. All I'm saying is, just because some people have this idea that a "real" gay relationships has this need for sex in it, doesn't mean that every gay relationship is going to revolve around sex, and it doesn't mean their stories have to too. Even when the characters do have sex, that doesn't mean they have to have people oogle at their sex scenes. They can be off-screen, and they can be on-screen. But they don't have to be on-screen to be valid. I'm not a prude because I want to support writers who don't involve sex in their stories. I'm just asking to have our stories be treated equally to straight people.

i just feel like there is a double standard for gay people sometimes. there are so many BLs where theyre basically softcore porn, but steamy dramas with straight people often dont show sex scenes still. i think its okay for some shows to have with sex scenes, but not every show that has any sort of intimacy or steaminess has to have a sex scene. a lot of the queer stories ive seen or had recommended to me had softcore porn in them, and i watched because i didnt see my self or queer people anywhere else for a long time. be it western shows or asian shows. my first time watching anything like a queer story that didnt have sex in it, were cross dressing shows about straight people. i mean, talk about low representation. why cant we watch stories of ourselves with the same amount of diversity as straight people can is all im saying. maybe my comment will make more sense now.

and not everyone bases their relationships on sex. there are many important aspects to relationships. some people like to move slow, some fast. i havent watched the show you're talking about. i just feel a little peeved because i see so many people fetishizing queer people and seeing their relationships only on the basis of sex. (I mean, have you seen Until We Meet Again? the side characters of that show makes me cringe so much.) We're more than just people who have sex, you know what I mean? i just feel like, if straight people can have a whole range of stories that can be told in a billion different ways, I feel like queer people should be able to as well.

there are plenty of dramas where there is barely any skinship with straight couples. sometimes they end with the main characters only hugging each other. Faith comes to mind as one of those. Maybe my comment will make more sense now. I wasn't trolling, I was being serious. I'm finally starting to see stories where I feel seen. I don't want that taken away just because the market demands it.

Watching Gameboys has helped me figure out an issue that I have had with BLs for years. I'm one of the BL fans…

haha omg the strong female lead bit. it hurts cuz it's true. so many times i get faked out by a strong female lead. Secret Garden, Eternal Love, The Rise of the Phoenixes, The King: Eternal Monarch... it makes me pretty frustrated sometimes ngl

the first outlander book was published in 1991 so I guess it could be argued that Faith took inspiration from…
oh wasnt trying to say they copied Faith, but just that, if there was a Kdrama version of Outlander, I feel like we already have it lol

It wasn't until the final episode that I really liked the series as a whole. I think the first and last episode are probably the best.

@Ahead Even still though, the location of the scar changed. In the beginning the scar is higher on his neck than later on. I think they did that because of his clothes. :/
