This was supposed to be the year of BL dramas, but so far only 1 BL drama has aired. Here’s hoping for many…
Exactly! What happened to the supposed "the year of BL dramas battle"? Half year has passed and obviously WOH has been the sole contestant and winner so far lol.
Xiaochu is involved this late in the game? this is shooting in two weeks.
As much as I hope Xiaochu is really involved in this project, it will be very tough for her. WOH script needs 7 months to complete, it would be a disaster if she has to rewrite script that is basically already done while the shooting will start very soon. All in all, I'll just keep low expectation, just like for all C-dramas nowadays.
YK hits the jackpot this year by having Gongjun and Zhang Zhehan with them, lol
I was wondering if this video is also released by YK in China? I thought it is only released on their intl platform, since it may anger their solo fans if it is released in China.
I’m just hoping there aren’t any major fandom wars that both sides embrace them as CP.
And looking at the Anle's synopsis it looks like another tropey story, FL seeks revenge, falls in love with the enemy... same old story. Can cdrama be more exciting? *sigh"

He's an actor so it's inevitable XD I don't watch much Dilraba, but I always have impression that she is mostly top liuliang with pretty face, while her acting is not really proven yet. I hope they will have good chemistry but I doubt that it will be as amazing as with ZZH.
LOL this is freaking hilarious! The original Japanese version is one of my fave BLs and I was horrified when I first heard about the HK remake, no to mention that the leads are members of boy bands. But what a pleasant surprise it turns out to be! As the ML, Edan did a great job as Haruta/Tin, he is comical but not overly cringey and his expressions are on-spot hilarious. The Chief is less "creepy" than the original but no less funny. Anson hasn't got so much screentime as Siu Muk yet in the first 2 eps, but he did quite well even though Maki is still the best.
Why do you think WOH has such a high rating, when other popular dramas fail to even reach an eight?
Not sure about the rating before since I didn't pay attention to Douban at that time. But yeah it is very interesting that XZ has a lot of haters but also a lot of hardcore fans at the same time.
Why do you think WOH has such a high rating, when other popular dramas fail to even reach an eight?
CQL rating was slightly higher than 7.7 before the whole A03 saga, where many people suddenly gave 1.0 rating thus bringing down the rating. 7.7 rating is already considered very good in Douban though, but yeah WOH's 8.6 is amazing.
Why do you think WOH has such a high rating, when other popular dramas fail to even reach an eight?
Just my opinion, but I think it's because WOH attracts not only BL fans but also general audience because it is a good wuxia drama, even labelled as "new wuxia" which is different from traditional wuxia. WOH has been praised for bringing fresh air to the genre, and it attracts a lot of passer-by audience. In addition to that, usually BL fans are slightly more lenient (just slightly) in giving rating to danmei show, and WOH has made some breakthrough in this genre, that's why the audience are very pleased.
As for the other popular dramas, as Gusu Bunny mentioned, the viewers are bored and fed up already with so many dramas that are boring and tropey, and just use popular stars to attract traffics. You can see with recent top dramas that fared very poorly in terms of Douban ratings.
In your review I trust! I'm still way behind the episodes, but I also feel that LNS is a bit too innocent and naive to be a spy. ZYL's strength is his eyes and micro-expressions but as a spy he needs to be more cold and expressionless. Nevertheless, this is quite a solid drama (compared to like 90% of other cdramas) and I enjoy the great acting from the other supporting casts as well.
Oh wow, rating in DB is steady at 8.6 and the rating is rated by more than 500K users.https://movie.douban.com/subject/34923491/Kudos…
Congrats SHL!! I thought the rating will go down a bit after the show ended, but it remains stable even after more than a month. It can easily be one of the highest rated dramas this year \^0^/ such an achievement, especially looking at the other top dramas, their rating look sad...
Unfortunately I can't agree with that. If the actor for Adachi is not Akaso-kun, it would be a totally different drama. Both Kurosawa and Adachi are role made for Machida and Akaso, and the success of this drama is largely due to their portrayal and chemistry.
I was hooked from eps 1, but I know many people get hooked on ep 12. It was also when the rating in Douban shot…
Yeah, many of the cast are young actors with little experience so maybe that's why I couldn't enjoy it much since I got distracted by awkward acting many times. Agree with you, I couldn't understand when people said try to watch 10+ eps before it gets better, not all people have time or wanna waste so many hours of their time to get hooked to a drama. Usually I will give chance up to 10 eps but if still doesn't work then I don't really care if it gets better or not later. All drama that I love got me hooked by first 2 eps and that's what you call a good storytelling. But I guess this is the problem with C-drama, too many eps and too many useless fillers.
It took me about 13 episodes as well to get hooked onto The Untamed, but once I was hooked, I was HOOKED. I did…
For me, Ep 1 is still rather slow but I got more interested by Ep 2. By the time I saw WKX with his epic killer flirty look when he watched ZZS from that round window while fanning his fan, it was a point of no return for me LOL. I saw a lot of people also fell into the pit from that moment on.
The Rebel got an impressive rating of 8.3 in Douban. I'm slowly watching it but so far I think it deserves the high rating, the production quality is obviously high, tight plot, great acting. I'm watching it for Zhu Yilong, but Chen Mo Qun character is stealing the spotlight little by little. He is charismatic, cunning and ruthless at the same time, a perfect badass XD
https://twitter.com/dramapotatoe/status/1407257593060286468 Ma Tao, WoH producer on her view as not to treat viewers as fools. She insisted on using all the poems and literary references "If you don't know something, you can learn". Thanks to that, even Chinese viewers scrambled to dig out all those classical poems and their meanings. Big kudos to her. That's why I hate shows that treat the audience as fools and then dismiss it as "it's just for entertainment". A good entertainment not only entertain, but also teach something to the audience. Another point that WoH is not just a simple danmei or wuxia drama.
Well-done HK, looking forward to the next eps!
7.7 rating is already considered very good in Douban though, but yeah WOH's 8.6 is amazing.

SHL finally will be broadcast in Japan! Starting Aug 12 at WOWOW channel. The description is "Rated no 1 Chinese bromance drama" XD
