I loved this drama. It is such a well done period drama, with lots of attention to detail. As we move through the 60's, 70's 80's to 90's - we get to see how fashion changed through the years, as well as hair style, and home decor. This production company thought of it all. I love this slice of life covering those years in Korea. The child segments were fabulous. For the adults, loved many of the actors and characters. Oh Yun-Ah is fabulous as the beautiful antagonist. This was the drama that introduced me to Jang Mi-Hee. She is beautiful in this drama. I was in awe of her. I also loved Lee Jong-Won and his character as well as Jin Hee-Kyung. I initially started watching for Jae-Hee, and I still like him, but there's lots more to this drama. Really well done.
Thank you for the article. Red Sorghum still clear in my mind. I will look for the novel or others by Mo Yan.
Two other films based on novels that come to mind: "Letter from an Unknown Woman." by Xu Jinglei based on a novel by Stefan Zweig. (I have read the novel and seen the film). And also "The Old Garden" by Im Sang-Woo based on a novel by Hwang Sok-yong.( I have read the novel. Need to still watch the film.). Will watch/read others on your list.
It is also available on dramacool with subtitles, if you don't want to download.
Sorry, not yet. No time right now. But I heard good things about it from friends. It also appears that it may be airing on KBS World under their classic section. I may wait for that and watch on KBSWorld.
