Is the situation with movies same as with dramas in China? Do they drop stuff unannounced or will we get some…
Usually the films are announced a little earlier, about a month. On the other hand, even after the announcement, they are sometimes postponed. So the fact that we don't know the release date is rather normal.

so, this is not a drama? I wonder how they can wrap up and convey the storyline within the minimum screen time.
I'm not sure, but it's not supposed to be a filmed version of the whole novel just a certain stage. ML is already a leader and at a time of threatened invasion by the Mongols, after gathering the grand masters and determining what and how, he stands at the head of the troops to defeat the invaders. It is easily possible to fit this into one film and show some more interesting dueling and battle scenes. Or at least some time ago I heard that this is supposed to be such a film.

why no one appreciate his versatility as an actor?🤔🤔
My Friend, I'm afraid you are a bit behind on the topic. This forum was bursting with compliments with every role he played. For me, TLP as a drama is a failure, although XZ tried his best to save this title. For that, I am a huge fan of Beitang Moran and Ji Chong. I also love his Tang San. But those dramas are old, so the discussions about them were during their premiere period. Many people love his acting as a whole, or at least in a few roles, but that doesn't mean that praise comments will come from everyone every five days. Personally, I really like his old works, from before his popularity period. I'm also looking forward to his two new costume productions. I think the forum will come alive immediately when there is any new material with him in a new role :)

I have a question: Should I watch Stranger before watching this drama or not?
At the beginning of episode three, SDJ asks some guy for advice. If I hadn't watched the previous series, I probably would have furrowed my brow and wondered who it was. Since I watched the previous two seasons, I was honestly happy to see him. I can't say whether this drama is clear and understandable to someone who hasn't watched Stranger, but I, who have watched, have a lot of fun thanks to such tiny tidbits. The plot itself is not related to the previous series, but I certainly wouldn't have liked SDJ as much, and maybe I wouldn't even like him if I hadn't known and loved him in that drama. Besides, it was in that drama that the events happened that now put SDJ in the situation he is in. On the other hand, this drama clearly has a comedic tone, that one was serious, so some may not like it. Well, and the creators show as a flashback or in dialogue this most important information, so that new viewers don't feel out of the loop. So if you think you don't understand something in a character, that you want to know more, you can watch Stranger, but if you're just wondering if you're missing something in the storyline, then, as of now - no. You're just missing a little fan service :)

Nobody is sympathetic (yet), but none of the characters know who is lying, who is wrong and who is guilty, which…
Sorry, but you're the one who misunderstood me. The daughter is acting like a psychopath in the sense of the average drama watcher (real psychopaths are quite different.) With her suggested high intelligence, does she not realize how she presents herself to her own father? So am I supposed to root for the narcissistic sociopath pretending to be the victim, who at least planned to kill the high school girl, or her sociopathic dad, who accuses his daughter without proof, even though he is supposedly a good police officer? Supposedly, because the drama doesn't show it to me. I really don't care about their daddy-daughter problems, because I don't care about any of them. But I'm not going to repeat myself. For me, this drama is a closed topic. I'm not going to waste any more time on it. I wish you, however, a pleasant viewing experience :)

SDJ is such a cutie, such a sweet, such an adorable man that I'm rooting for him regardless of whether he gets corrupted or is noble and good. I finally watched episodes 3-4 and I haven't had so much fun in a long time. I guess since episodes 1-2 :)

I don't understand why people are annoyed that this drama refers to Stranger. It's like being annoyed that Lord of the Rings refers to The Hobbit, or Mandolorian to Star Wars. As something belongs to one franchise of course it will have some references between each other. After all, the whole situation DJ is in now is due to the fact that he messed up in the past.

All the more, I have no desire to watch a drama about a dysfunctional family, where every word from the daughter to the father is either a tantrum or a lie, where the daughter frames the father for bribery, domestic violence, and who knows what else, according to the screenwriters. It's a shame that this drama is labeled as a mystery or even a thriller — it would spare the disappointment of those expecting something more than communication problems between painfully boring people :)

I agree. Or they say “the drama was boring, no interesting scene” and when I ask, “even this one you didn't like” they reply “I didn't see, I rewound” :)

That's not the point. I have watched hundreds, if not thousands, of police, detective and other series and dramas in my life. I have read not much less. In this drama, I have no one to root for. I don't care about ML's dilemmas, because ML doesn't have a single characteristic that would make me think “ok, he's a cool guy, I want him to have a good life.” It's all the same to me whether he treated his daughter well or badly, whether she deserved it, whether she's clean as a whistle, because I don't care about either daddy or this daughter, who for me represents the worst possible type of FL - she knows best and will do everything herself. This girl does not have a single quality in her that makes her pleasant to watch. Let's not stop here. The drama shows a few or a dozen police officers, but none of them has a personality. The drama can show how for two minutes someone stands or walks in very artistic silence, but can't show any meaningful interaction between the characters. The second pair of profilers can be summed up as "stickler for rules" and “insipid empath,” and that's it. We don't know anything about them. What do I care if the teacher lies and is a bad person if none of the scenes showed him to me as a good person. This reveal didn't even have shock value, because I don't care who killed the girl. Why should I? Was she a nice person? Do I know something about her that makes her more than a number in a statistic for me? It's been 4 episodes out of 10 and I, as a viewer, don't have a single character that I care even the slightest bit about and not a single crime that interests me. The drama spends too much time artificially creating atmosphere instead of focusing on creating characters. I get it, someone likes it, great, but I don't, and I boldly express my opinion.

After watching the 4th episode, which brought me -3/10 satisfaction, I conclude that this drama should be titled: “The boring life of uninteresting slugs with no personality.” What an endless boredom! Not a single interesting and even more sympathetic character.

Well buckle up because everything kicks off in ep4. I agree the first couple eps need editing, I skimmed them…
Everyone says how wonderful episode 4 is so if I don't reach satisfaction at 6/10, I will hold everyone accountable ;)

This series for me is perfect before bedtime. It is so slow and uninteresting that I fall asleep :)
Or maybe it’s not? The excess of form over content is so annoying that it gave me a headache in the morning :(
In any case, I understand where the director is going, but, heck, it shouldn't be a slow art cinema with a forced atmosphere and veeeeeeeeery long shots, but a story with some thrill of suspense. I'm sorry, after watching three episodes I keep wondering when something will finally start to happen and FL will stop being so annoying as the stereotypical image of a psychopath in the eyes of the average person. If nothing interesting happens in the fourth episode, I think I will say to this drama “goodbye.”

i don't think you need to have watched stranger as it's a separate story entirely :)
Usually, if a prosecutor gets a job in Seoul, he stays there for a long time and if he doesn't get into trouble, he might not be transferred at all. But if he does, he ends up in some backwater and has to hope for some luck, some big case, to get back to Seoul. DJ is counting on something like that, so he moved out by himself so that the kids wouldn't have to change schools (one is preparing for college exams). From what I've seen, he has a rather happy, loving family :) His wife was in the second season of Stranger and she was a beautiful woman.

Wait,so how old is his character here?
I would say between 40 and 50. 43? In the previous series, 2017, he was around 35, I think.

girl it's the reality of those times
I don't judge historical times based on the film, I judge the film based on how it approaches historical times. But others may, and it is hurtful to their perception of the past. But maybe that's the point, to convince them that the past is a perverted civilization, so since we should learn from the past.... To me it is just distasteful.

I think USA payed for that such script ..( read comments before that Korea do movies as USA wished ...due to all…
I miss the old days, where K-dramas were what they were, because they were really beautiful, interesting and every scene had meaning and purpose. I don't know if this is actually the influence of pressure from abroad or a sign of the passage of time and cultural change, but I don't like it :(

once again... if you find it too slow, simply skip forward in certain scenes (just walking etc.)...
Why? I ask seriously, because for me a drama, book or movie is a holistic product, where every aspect is judged, because each element is an indispensable part of the whole. If the viewer has to scroll through long-winded scenes, or flip through pages of long, nothing-increasing descriptions or explanations, then it is the product's fault that it screwed up with the pace. If the action in a movie happens too fast, should I go to the projector operator and tell him to run the tape at 0.5 speed?

I understand your intentions, but the slowness of some scenes or the fact that they go on too long affects the reception of a given drama, because it knocks you out of rhythm, or doesn't allow you to get into the right rhythm. This is, of course, a very subjective impression, but if similar comments about the length of scenes are repeated enough for you to repeat your comment, however, I believe that the problem lies in the drama, not in a very subjective feeling. Sometimes dragging out a scene by two seconds, even by one second, is too long, and this title has far too many such scenes. So I would have to watch the whole thing at speed 2 and additionally still FF. So what sense does it make?
