Lol some of those theories I read oh my gosh the mental gymnastics just to get the desired ending, but I get it. The development of BYJ and HD relationship was written so well that it made us care about them, and it sucks so bad to see that rare and beautiful thing come to an end before your eyes.

I agree with you about the inconsistency. They both just made unilateral decisions. YJ to apply to NY, HD to break up. No discussion at all. I thought it was weirder for HD though, because she is usually the one to say whatever she is feeling at any moment, but she never showed discontentment and just went ending things, which is why I said out of character for her. BYJ tends to keep things more to himself, but the whole 9/11 thing... someone else said it but I agree- It felt like a plot device. In order to fit the writer's intention for the ending they needed something to force them apart and mess with their relationship. Between that, the unilateral decisions, the argument, the diary, and finally them running to each other at the exact same time, the breakup ended up feeling more unnatural and just as forced as a fairytale happy ending would have.

I don't understand the present timeline either. They made a big deal about her marrying and having a kid and for what? Just as a way to tell the story? BYJ and her entire group of friends had such a huge impact on her life and yet her daughter has never even heard of them? From that I am assuming none of them ever kept in touch, and we aren't told or shown where they are now. Sorry for the novel I tried to keep it concise but whoops lol

Even though I am a person who is a sap for the happy ending, and it's the reality I wanted to see, I think it makes sense that they broke up. What got me was the role reversal on the break-up.

HD wanted BJ to share everything but turned stoic herself. She never expressed any disappointment until she said to break up, keeping it in her magical diary which has the great timing to find BYJ just before he leaves so they can have one last tearful goodbye.

Even though BYJ was a selfless person- as evidenced by him staying in NY even though it's killing his mental health, he was kinda selfishly expecting only HD to understand and always wait for him. I thought after the phone call at end of 15 it would hit him that he is always saying he is sorry to her. He had once said he wanted her to only have good experiences. I thought he would realize he was no longer able to give her that and decide to let her go. Even though I am not a fan of noble idiocy, I thought it would actually work here because of YJ personality, and because HD was also tired of waiting and being disappointed like she always was with her mom.

I wish it would have been mutual, rather than having that fight. I felt like the writer was trying to make it even more emotional with the whole diary thing. So I see no problem with the break-up, I just wanted it to happen a bit differently.

The mom also told HD she met Yi Jin, and a look passed between mother and daughter. How would that be a big deal if it's her SIL? I even had a random thought that time that maybe he died and she went to visit his site.
I did want to live in denial of a bittersweet ending for a while, but that's my own issue hahaha

ngl I thought the same lol. The way he looked at Rinko sometimes seemed predatory, as well as some things he said. I thought the fact that she wasn't an easy conquest was making him want to win her like he was playing a game..oops now I feel kinda bad. He is actually one of the sweetest sl I have seen.

I thought the same. The very simple explanation led me to believe this would be about normal, everyday issues married people might go through, like arguments over money, in-laws, and children, with lots of ups and downs. The trailer seems far more dark and tragic than the synopsis let on.

The revelation of Jae Eon "falling in love at first sight" with Na Bi at the exhibit seemed more creepy to me than romantic. He knew her name already when he approached her at the bar but pretended he didn't. His seduction started there. He even tried to take her home to see his butterflies that night. and you pursue a casual relationship with someone you "love"? This just seemed like a lame attempt to change their relationship into a romantic and fated love at the 11th hour.

After reading some of the comments, I wasn't expecting much, but I loved the first two eps! It's funny and entertaining.

Nobody knows was also very good. It has a kick -butt female detective as a bonus. Definitely made me emotional at times too.

That time when JW's dad's minion said that JW's dad knows Jeong Je since he was close to his mom 20 yrs ago...can't help thinking that trio has something to do with it. Plus having those characters just to interefere with the case would make them seem kind of pointless. Maybe I'm off base but idk..

It's not because he keeps getting it wrong, and I understand why he suspected everyone. In fact I wish he would have suspected everyone from the beginning, and not just obsessed with DS. I get why he suspected him with the 11111 thing, but the fact that JW never seems to consider other possibilities just..doesn't seem like good investigative skills. For someone who is supposed to be so smart, I wanted to see him think more carefully and looking at bigger picture rather than acting emotionally with every new piece of information. Then again, because of that we get great scenes between him and DS, showing off the phenomenal acting and chemistry of the actors. And despite feeling irritated by JW's attitude and actions from time to time, I still find myself amused and interested with him too.My feelings about him are as complex as he is.

Ever since he tried to cover up when chief came in, I've been curious what happened to him. I think you must be right and it has something to do with the case.
