interesting article! I find it also strange that there are so many stories about this, I think it might happen a lot that students have a crush on their teachers, especially younger new teachers. but why so many people crave this kind of story I wonder too. It must be the forbidden fruit like you said? To me it felt so weird to watch the movie Harold and Maude when I was in school, but back then I had a friend who was secretly dating a man the age of her father! It was unfathomable to me, but I didn't want to judge her feelings for him. Maybe like many other stories it's really the thought that true love between two people can overcome anything is prevalent everywhere, think about the French president Macron who actually ended up marrying his teacher!
wow! you really put a lot of effort into this. thank you for your hard work! I like the tag system and the filters, it'll make it easier finding dramas on certain topics and I prefer watching dramas that already finished airing^__^ it will take me some time getting used to the new features but I'm excited to explore them ~
haha thank you for this article! I've had that reaction multiple times: Why am I watching this? My all time favourite would be Hana Kimi, because that is just an overload of crazy: obvious cross dressing - when did she every seem like a boy?, the main guy turning into a drunk kissing monster, the weird inventions, and that insane school principle. Literally not a single 'normal' person and that is probably what I love so much about this drama. Plot is super weird too but they all seem to have so much fun it's contagious!I think I rewatched it 4 times or more? XD
it's funny cause at first I thought 'yay now I can watch more in between'! like you said 1hour can be painfully long. but I realised that I end up watching the second episode right after because the first one ended with a cliff hanger and I tell myself: aah it's just another 30minutes. someone tell me how my brain works? ^^°
Currently watching Boku, Unmei no Hito Desu and I'm so happy to see Yamapi and Kamen together again) Yamato…
oh yes me too!I agree too!
and Kamenashi + Yamapi I loved them in Nobuta wo produce! should be interesting to see them again after so many years. can't believe that was a 2005 drama, I feel like rewatching all the good old stuff that got me into dramaland *_*
thanks for this article!! I know Japanese romcom drama always get pushed aside because there is 'not enough romance', but actually I feel they are refreshing in a way. Because they seem more sincere about the mutual love between the characters and not mainly about the hot kiss scenes. I really loved Dame na Watashi Koishite Kudasai! And Nigeru Wa Haji da ga Yaku ni Tatsu is a drama I'll definitely check out! it's funny cause I discovered Hoshino Gen's song by chance and it's been my phone ringtone for a while now and after learning that it's from a drama and he's even in it makes it even better!
I didn't have time to read everything yet, but thank you all so much for commenting and for the many drama suggestions! <3 I want to start watching now~
I do realise the good guy is not entirely new, it's just that I found the popular drama mostly have jerk male leads. And we will take a while or maybe forever before we will really hate watching our bad boys to be honest. haha I just like to see the usual patterns being mixed up a bit!^^
(also I didn't hate Secret Garden, it was just the first time watching K-drama I remember thinking: is this really romantic? and why doesn't she kick his ass XD)
can't help but think that she's a bad mom/wife tho at the end
yes I agree with you on that one! their relationship was totally messed up and in my opinion it wasn't funny at all. I mean the mum was funny at times, but the whole violence was really misplaced in a romcom. no idea why they even made it like that and resolved it so quickly, I was thinking actually it would have been better they got a divorce... but I never get that whole idea of hitting the guy you like. my Korean friend told me when the girls do it it's not really painful, but I don't dig the 'playful' beating thing -_-°
a great refreshing story for a romcom and I simply love everything about the female and the male lead!! sometimes just plain random, especially the side stories, and there's sweetness sparkling out of every corner ~ * ~ * a bit too much for me at times ^^° I believe a story about women's empowerment with so much cuteness is something only Asian drama can pull off.
can't help but think that she's a bad mom/wife tho at the end
it fits with the whole theme of an independent strong woman though, the dad can stay home and take care of the children too. if only they weren'r super strong XD
come to think of it why didn't the grandma appear at the wedding? ;(
aah why did I finish watching this so quickly?! I'll miss them! all of them T_T if I could give this more than a 10 I totally would! I think this will be one of the few drama I consider rewatching~
I decided to read the manga before watching it and I have to say if ever two characters perfectly came to life then it would be those two. apart from the sometimes awkward acting, they looked exactly like the drawing. the flow of the story fits the manga, but I think it's missing the internal monologues from the manga to help you understand their feelings. actually they should be awkward, because it is a new experience for both of them.
and about the actors age, well how many 20+ people have played high school kids in countless movies and tv shows from all over the world?
I just rewatched it again and I cannot say why but I still love it so much!^_^ it's just that whenever I think live is shit this drama will cheer me up. it's far from perfect but to me it's just one of those stories that make me feel warm and fuzzy~
lol looks like I'm not alone here. I'm stuck on episode 13 and can't seem to move on, although I think it has to do with the story rather than certain characters. personally I prefer Arang and the Magistrate and Iljimae, where you get action and the romance seperately :D
and Kamenashi + Yamapi I loved them in Nobuta wo produce! should be interesting to see them again after so many years. can't believe that was a 2005 drama, I feel like rewatching all the good old stuff that got me into dramaland *_*
