I dropped it after episode 7 for many of the same reasons. I could not handle the way the treated Shi Won. And Joo Sang Wook's character was just such a jerk that even though I figured out that it was from his own trauma, he just wasn't sympathetic in any way to me. I just couldn't continue with it any longer. I was so frustrated while I was watching it.
No!!! I didn't know they cut short the epis and was so happy with the pace then all of a sudden epi 14 showed…
It was unavoidable. Yoon Doo Joon got his enlistment orders unexpectedly and VERY last minute - like 3 days before he had to leave. They had to cut it short because they couldn't very well have it without him. But it DID cause the ending to suffer. I was very disappointed in how they chose to use the remaining time and the ending. I understand why/what happened, but it doesn't make it any less frustrating or disappointing for viewers. :(
Just finished episode 2 and I'm even more confused. Why did they shoot the foreign guy? Was that Eugene's orders…
I think you'll find out soon. The American guy that was shot was holding a very important document that is vital to Joseon. Things should start to clear up by episode 3, but those recaps help tremendously even I feel like I understood everything! :)
There are parts of this I like, but am I the only one a little bored by this one? I'm probably going to finish it regardless, but I'm not enjoying it as much as I'd hoped. I don't find it "relaxing" as much as so many of you do. (A Poem A Day had that nailed perfectly). I still don't really find any chemistry between Ji Woon and Da Young. I do like Ji Woon's character though. I like Jin Kook, but I'm not crazy about how Sang Ah acts so weird around him. She's lucky he's persistent! And, over half-way in and we still have only a vague idea why So Mi is skittish around men.
I seem to like all the male characters ok, but Da Young and Sang Ah both are kind of annoying to me. I know this opinion won't be very popular.
I have nothing against, Kim Tae-Rii, but I wish they casted someone else for the female lead. That said, I love…
Kim Tae Ri is one of the most fascinating things about this show to me. (And this is coming from someone that has loved everything about this show so far!) She is captivating. Her acting is flawless, she is gorgeous to look at, and her voice is lovely. If I were a man, I'd have a new crush on her! I understand that we all have different tastes though! Sorry she's not doing it for you.
I like Dong Mae as a character, he's interesting, a bit creepy, and kind of lost..he likes to appear as if his…
You expressed what I think exactly - I like him as a character and think he's interesting, etc. But I don't see him coupled with Ae Sin. I love Ae Sin with Eugene all the way.
OK, I'm starting to enjoy this drama a little bit more. My least favourite character is Dong Mae. His obsession…
I don't dislike Dong Mae as a character - he's interesting. BUT I have no idea why people 'ship' him with Ae Sin. I have zero second lead syndrome in this at all. If anyone could explain why they want her to end up with Dong Mae as opposed to Eugene, I'd be greatly interested in your perspective. The romantic tension is all with Eugene in my eyes, and Dong Mae *is* kind of a 'historical creep' LOL! (good one!)
I would say yes and no. However, I usually do my best to avoid overly political types of shows - I find them boring. But this show has many things going for it, and I find I am not bored in the slightest. On the contrary, I find myself captivated by every little thing. So, yes there is politics and war, but there is also romance - nearly everything about it says romance - and a bit of humor to keep it from taking itself too seriously.
Your reviews are always such a nice read!Everything you wrote I'm able to agree on despite having the polar opposite…
Weirdly, I feel the same. Normally I would not vote for a review of a show that was dropped or reviewed before completion. And while I had a different reaction also, I have to admit that 3GGG makes valid points that I agree with.
Great review! I love SIG too - I've probably watched him in more dramas than any of my other favorite actors. He always seems to pick good projects! :)
This show (FMW) is actually one of my favorites! :)
