People are watching 1-2 J-dramas and just voting for it/them in every category it's in, even if it's the *only* J-drama they watched. Just be glad they didn't somehow make it into at least some of the subgenre categories (Mystery, Action, Medical, etc.).

Yeah, a few.

I'm kind of laughing to myself about the inclusion of Kenja no Ai as a Family Drama. I mean, okay, it is *technically* kind of about a family but when I think "Family Drama" I think of something a little more heartwarming and lot less effed-up, relationship-wise. I mean, there are a few others in that category that made me scratch my head (Koe Koi, for example) but imo Kenja no Ai *really* sticks out as "one of these things is not like the others."

Is there any point in requesting that people refrain from voting unless they've seen at least a handful of J-dramas in 2016? Instead of, y'know, just voting for The One Show They Saw in every category?

I just finished Hero 2014 this past week (I'd been sitting on just the *last 2* eps since, well, 2014) so I suppose I may as well watch the latest movie.

I'm very excited to finally get the chance to watch this!

This had some memorable scenes (and loved seeing the Agito cast in the restaurant and elsewhere) but I vastly prefer the ending (both of the plot, and for the individual characters) as told in the show proper. I view this as basically a non-canon AU story.

I was gonna watch this for Suda (and a bit for Aoki Munetaka) but Ishihara Satomi is just... I have yet to like her in anything since Voice (which was an ensemble cast and not a rom-com). I agree that Etsuko & Hachiro are the more interesting pairing, as opposed to the "love at first sight" that Etsuko has for Yukito (such lazy writing for a romance, bleh) but Suda looks to be the male lead (*sigh* I wanted better for him in his first rom-com). I guess I'm dropping this drama unless I hear it takes a surprise turn in this respect.

He & Sorimachi Takashi were amazing together in Beach Boys. They complemented each other perfectly.

I may check this out, for Iwata Takanori if nothing else. I'd be so sad though if he ends up being a villain or something, you never know with J-dramas...

Interesting read. A bit more about K-drama trends specifically, rather than Asian dramas in general though.

As for me, my favorite trend is probably the Noona Romance. Sorry to see it kind of subside in K-dramas, but Japan's still doing it (no surprise since it seems to me that they started the trend).
