Believe me when I tell you that after the shock of the FL role I became wary of any drama that listed her as the main character : I'd see her on the cast list and RUN.

Labeled them "not interested".

So didn't watch or even bother to check Ashes of love...
Even skipped LYF.. After seeing her pop up (although in that it's the ML which had the stronger repel factor for me - apologies for those who enjoy his "acting").

It was purely Li Xian which made me take a quick peek at FP.

Unbelievable how captivating her role and acting is in this.

In conclusion it goes to show that often it's the screenplays and directors that "create" these characters and either craft them well or underdone.

Of course the BEST OF THE BEST talents will often know how to spin a role even when the script is weak or the director not very skilled.

That's when you watch dramas whose stories you couldn't be bothered with BUT the roles played by the actors are etched in your mind..

These sorts of dramas also reveal SO much depth ans layers on second watch too

I ALMOST DIDNT want to watch FP given how revolted for life I was by FL in GGS ..

I mean she is WORSE than the FL in Boys Over Flowers (BOF) .. I thought that was the ultimate barf and cringe FL role I have seen until I saw this.

I returned to this page because I am SWOONING over HOW GOOD FP is .. and FL is batting out of the ballpark in the FL role in that.

I get her too .. What subconscious forces and conscious motives drive her single minded pursuit of LC .. It's a volatile mix of power - obsession - desire - jealousy - need to possess and control

Here's the thing .. once she HAS it she may actually grow contempt for him and push him away .. like a used toy / bauble .. OR she may never get over the obsession and it will just get worse and worse where she ends up ABUSING him worse than her father (remember THE DOUBLE's princess)

I am completely with you both on this .. this looong leisurely playfulness and teasing is superbly done .. HOW INTIMATE IS IT that she can now 'smell' him .. and that he can silently get within such intimate distance of her without her feeling awkward - afraid - discomfited .. They are so shrinking their physical boundaries organically ..

Just began - and already I sense the vibes of a meaty - plot heavy - complex drama with very interesting Grey characters.

Looks like Flourished Peony and this was will go well together - it's a terrible painful wait for FP Eps...
But this promises to be strongly engaging as well and make me forget the the "wait"
