Title Utsukushii Hito Spoiler
For the ones that have finished the drama:
i did some research on Japanese Flowers’ Meaning sites. apparently, Dandelion’s meaning is 真心の愛 which can be translated to ‘wholehearted/sincere love’ and 別離 meaning ‘parting ways/farewell’, not ‘wishing for happiness’ as Misaki said. So Miyuki was right about him lying in that moment. TT__TT

i admit the past few years i had been ignoring this type of JDramas, the ones about teachers trying to win over students' hearts. I know they're good and touching dramas but having watched several of them, it started to feel repetitive and predictable. But i'm currently on a 90s' JDramas spree and seeing this one get praised so much, so i thought to myself 'Why not?' and i finally gave it a try.

And wow, i was not disappointed. it's really something huh. i enjoyed it a lot. Sorimachi Takashi was so great in this drama, i was impressed. Gotta love the bond they formed in that class, especially in the final episode, it makes you want to be in a class like that, with a homeroom teacher like him, they must be beautiful memories if it was real.

Annoying female lead and some side characters were even more annoying. I started this drama because of Toyokawa Etsushi and i really liked his character but i'm sorry, i have to drop.

It actually only has 11 episodes + 1 Special. The Special episode is 11-min long and contains interview, some play back scenes from the drama and a NEW 2 minutes special ending that took place some years AFTER the ending in the 11th episode. it's only 2 minutes though, but it's worth watching. if you're looking for the Special, you can download it at raredoramas. there's no sub for it but you should be able to understand most of that 2 mins if your Japanese is decent.

As for my thoughts of the drama, I love it. I don't really have any complaints tbh. I found myself yearning for more after each episode. I rooted for the characters to find happiness after what they had suffered. and boy, it was amazing.

And I find it quite interesting that almost 15-20 years after this drama, Toyokawa Etsushi was cast in Her Granddaughter and Natsukawa Yui was in Chuugakusei Nikki. if you have watched Aoi Tori, Her Granddaughter and Chuugakusei Nikki then you'll see what i mean.

The synopsis spoils way too much and very misleading at the same time. The drama doesn’t just revolve around 2 characters. So many things happen in it, i still can’t believe they managed to put all that in just 12 episodes. That was a lot to take, i really shouldn’t have watched it in one go.

I read somewhere that this is the darkest Jpn drama ever made, and yes it sure is dark, enough to make me not want to see it ever again. i have to admit the drama as a whole was excellent though, the performances were exceptional, even the for supporting characters. The Sunada sisters are probably 2 of the strongest female leads i’ve ever seen in Jpn dramas.

it sounds like he is the kind of lead who feels empty inside, falls for the FL and believes she can fill the void,…
No, it’s not. Why don’t you see it yourself? You were right for about the first 3 episodes, the rest of the drama is so much more than that.

he’s a Pisces. that explains a lot.

also so far i’ve only watched 4 dramas of him and all 4 of them at least had 1 character saying ‘I don’t want to die!!’ while crying. and i don’t know how to feel about it honestly, it’s so depressing.

Except there is no 日 in 聖, although it might seem otherwise. In 聖 , one of the radicals is 耳 which means…
What do you mean? I never said that there’s 日 in 聖 though? i know it’s supposed to be 耳 in 聖, not 日.
What i was trying to say was both 聖 and 日 present in the title of this drama, which is 中学聖日記.

I enjoyed 2nd season more, mostly because Makoto’s acting in the 1st season was the worst, really, i’m glad he was gone in season 2. Seno was a more convincing 2nd male lead. Also the main couple has more chemistry and moments in this season, which was cute. Every time i do a rewatch marathon i always find myself wanting to hurry up and finish season 1 and get to season 2 lol

Ah... Kou kou kyoushi. I don't regret that I watched it. I think in some ways the drama was better than 2003 version.…
sorry if i annoyed you because of the late reply. i think the last scene definitely suggested that they both killed themselves, because there was no way to prove that her father committed suicide, no proof of their incest relationship and likely no one would believe that story. there were proofs that Haruma stabbed him though, so he most likely would be charged with crimes, probably in jail for life. even if he got out of prison early, the couple would still have no future. also Mayu said she couldn’t live without him, and the red thread linked their pinky fingers suggested that they didn’t want to be parted again. that’s my take on it. it sure was dark and sad but i really liked it.

The "shadow kiss" scene was so beautiful it actually made me cry a bit. oh god, the aesthetic. and not until i watched the interviews in the SP episode, i didn't even notice the main couple didn't even have an actual kiss the whole drama, they were all indirected kisses, even so their chemistry and passion still overflowed the whole time. that was incredible.

that was amazing, i really liked it. you can tell it was a very well-done drama. the plot, the characters, the acting, the setting, the music, everything went so perfectly together and it felt so different from other Japanese dramas I've seen before. Even the producer himself wasn't sure if he could make any other dramas that could top this one.
And Mayu was so pretty, the simple and pure kind of pretty *__* i felt like i was hypnotized by her.

Beautiful opening credits, i never once skipped it. The drama itself, well, I wouldn't give it a rewatch tbh, but for a 20-year-old drama it was more enjoyable than i thought.
Also, was his mother's love for him....... um nevermind lol
