Tragedy tag isn't the scary part. The overall feeling of helplessness throughout the drama is.
That's so true. That's why the production team came out with a short series of the couple in modern day. You should watch that too. It's kind of like a closing for most viewers.
I guess it's up to you how ever you want to start with the story. :)
They are both the same dramas. The original version has a longer explanation of events with things unfolding, how the characters develop including the side characters. The Special version is basically a cut-and-paste and captures mostly the main events and focuses on the main characters. With the Special version you may not follow the story completely, why things happen certain ways. However, it can give you a sample to see if you like the story or not before you invest too much of your time in the drama.
Hi.Okay.Can anyone tell me why a young girl is always hanging around two grown men, and has the nerve to tell…
I love that little girl. The boys think they're smart, but this girl's brain equals three of theirs added together. She takes care of all of them. She's a joy to watch and the adult in the room when placed together with the boys.
It seems Zhang is only a s** toy for the Emperor. :(
Unfortunately, this is one of a very real sad stories in Chinese history. There're just so much pain and injustices in Chinese marriages in the old days because many (most) men had multiple wives whereas women had no choices. If she were to be divorced, that's it; she's doomed for life, even in today's world. I cannot imagine myself living in such a society. It's so painful.
This show parallels something that is true of modern relationships as well. Men rarely fall for a considerate,…
Failure in any relationship is normally blamed on the women for not being good enough, especially in the eastern culture. When a woman supersedes her husband, she is being considered as 'too ambitious', 'workaholic', 'uncaring' etc. It's so humiliating for the women.
This is through and through a wuxia drama like the old days. Some scenes and dialogues are so funny! The characters' names are hilarious: Jian Buzhi, Zhao Wohuan, Sima Dang XD
1. in the drama, because emperor doesn't have that kind of feeling toward empress, unlike his feelings toward…
You're quite right about the relationship, it's frustrating. It's really painful to see a character that we love not getting what she deserves, and the Emperor can get away and indulge in his shenanigans.
not to write an essay about cao danshu but i think what hurts me the most about her is that she represents the…
Had the Chinese culture permitted, Cao Danshu could have been the Emperor herself. Strong, smart, upstanding, fair, kind, magnanimous. Love her in her armor outfit. Reminds me of Mulan. Who needs a male Emperor?
Having said that, it is precisely this reason that the Emperor feels threatened. Men usually prefer wives who are not smarter than themselves so that they can brag to the wives to boost their own egos. Long live girls' power! :)
