I liked this drama a lot. Usually I'm a Ren Jialun hater but he fit the role here. The biggest downfall of this drama is the dubbing. The ML's dubber in particular. I've heard him a billion times, I can't take hearing him anymore. But honestly all of the dubbers weren't good. I been watching C-dramas for years, so I'm very familiar with dubbing, but I still fucking hate it. They take me out of the drama. The voices sound so fake and unattached. I wish we had the actual actors' voices, because their facial expressions were great.
The drama overall though was good. Despite there not being any in your face romantic scenes, I think this pairing had the most chemistry I've seen out of all of Bai Lu and RJL's dramas.
The OST goes so hard. Really funny and nostalgic little drama. It's worth it alone to see these actors when they were so young and the clothes and everything from this time period.
This definitely sounds like A Time Called You, or is it just me? The difference here is she travelled to the future.
No. Sounds more like Rooftop Prince. A Time Called You is a remake of the Taiwanese drama Someday or One Day. The only similarity is the death of a loved one and the time traveling. The details are very different.
Interesting. I wonder if i should watch the original before this.
Yes, definitely. The first episode is very different than the rest of the drama but exists to set everything up. I've seen a lot of people put off by the first episode, but it gets a lot better
All of the Korean remakes of Chinese and Taiwanese dramas I've seen have been shit (A Love So Beautiful, In Time With You, etc.) so I really already don't have high hopes for this. BUT what really makes me not have faith is the music. The music was so important in the original. Wu Bai's Last Dance, Mayday's Embrace, and multiple of Shi Shi's songs were crucial to setting the tone and emotion of the original, I don't see how they're going to do it here.
It makes me so sad that this is going to be people's first introduction to this story. The Taiwanese version is a rare special drama that doesn't come around very often. I urge anyone who hasn't seen it and is contemplating whether to watch the Korean or the Taiwanese first, go for the original. You're doing yourself a service.
I'm loving the FSF support in the comments. He is a fantastic actor and a handsome man. There are plenty of dramas with flower boys who can't act, if you only care about looks you can watch one of those.
I'm also a big fan of the original who followed it ongoing in 2019. These two lead actors refused to return for…
For sure:) I'm just bitter because AC is one of my favorite kdramas and I won't be able to get past it and watch the new season. I'm glad others are excited for it. Now that I'm thinking about it I genuinely hope this season does really well so that more dramas with unique concepts like this keep being made.
Yang Chao Yue is always getting a bad rap for her acting. Her role in the Journey of Chongzi was a terrible role…
I'm not being a hater but she isn't a very good actress. That's just criticism. I don't hate her or think she should quit acting, but she needs training and support roles. She isn't ready for lead roles as her acting is very one-dimensional and not nuanced. I'm sad that people are being so vicious about it though.

I understand that, the ML is a good actor and I said that if he were cast in the first season I wouldn't have an issue with him as the lead (SSK on the other hand is a bad choice, they should have gotten someone else). But for me and a lot of other people, the drama is ruined and it feels pointless to do another season. I'm not blaming any one person in particular, but if they couldn't get the original leads then this should have been cancelled. Immersion and continuity are important for storytelling through this medium. I don't know how people watch shows where the main character essentially becomes a different character. It's not something I can overlook.
