It's highly rated on MDL (that doesn't mean much anymore though) and a xianxia which is a genre I love, that's why I watched it. How ridiculous to say "just don't watch it." Ignore bad writing and don't criticize simply because it's a drama? That's literally so stupid. There are plenty of dramas that are made by talented writers that don't have plot holes because they aren't lazy. With all of the praise this drama received I was hoping it would be one of those. It's not.

Only praise is allowed here though apparently. Critical thinking is off limits.

I'm not "making this drama look bad" by stating an opinion. I stand by everything I said. I see so many people saying "she was MEANT to be naive" as if that makes her any less irritating. It's also super gross that two grown men who act like grown men fall in love with someone who is mentally a 6 year old. I've been watching dramas for a really long time, I've seen many childish female leads. She is one of the worst.

The writing is objectively bad though. Any critical thought and so many plot points in this drama crumble.

You should look up the Lanling prince (not the drama lmao, but it is based on him). He was a general who supposedly had a beautiful and feminine face so he wore a mask like that.

Her voice doesn't change until like episode 30. It's grating almost the whole damn drama.

Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms/Eternal Love is the blueprint for this genre. A must-watch.

He had zero backstory and his love for the female lead felt incredibly forced. He had no depth, personality, character growth, or resolution. He existed purely for the sake of having a second male lead.

It had so much potential and the fanbase is so energetic but it doesn't live up to the hype.

Holy bad writing. MDL has gone to the dogs, or the 14 year olds. That's the only explanation for how these new dramas keep being rated so highly. I'm not saying I hated it. But I have so, so many issues with this drama. Only watch it if you're a diehard xianxia fan.

Also, all of you that claimed the FL matures and her voice changes buried the lead. She doesn't "mature" until the last five episodes. She acted like a 6 year old with one of the most grating voices I've heard in a drama the majority of the show and it was painful and I hate you guys.

Okay now girlie this is where I have to disagree lmao. It is not okay for a real life relationship to happen between a 15 year old and a 23 year old. I'm not talking about the drama because that's all fake, but you're being super sus now. A 15 year old can have a crush on a 23 year old sure, but no sane good person at 23 would ever like a 15 year old. That's disgusting.

It's a very tricky situation. I personally don't love that they got an underage girl and a guy in is early 20's for the roles but to call it pedophilia is ridiculous. I didn't watch My Treasure for a similar reason (that was worse though because the ML was in his late 30's and the girl was a teen) but I wouldn't even call that pedophilia. The age gap personally made me uncomfortable, but they didn't have them do literally any physically romantic scenes. I didn't end up watching it though and I'm probably not going to watch this either just because I have OCD and when my mind gets stuck on something it's hard to move past it. But I'm not going to scream pedophilia when that's not the issue. It's the fact that kids are working these jobs alongside adults and it is imo inappropriate. I understand that there isn't any skinship, but I still don't like it. I acknowledge though that this is a grey area that people can decide for themselves what their comfort level is as long as nothing actually physical is portrayed by the actors.

BUT there is no reasoning with Salsa Mia. They literally called Ming Lan pedophilia. The age gap between the characters would definitely be gross if it were modern day (she was a late teen in the show and he was an adult in his early 20's) but it was the Song dynasty and that was just how things were back then. But Salsa literally called the actors' real life ages pedophilia. Imagine thinking a 30 year old marrying a 39 year old is pedophilia. Deranged behavior.

I can't believe Namgoong Min is blessing us with a serious melo historical romance. I'm going to cry.

It's quite funny it's ZLY antis that go on other actresses' pages to bring ZLY up out of nowhere. No one on ZLY's page shits on YM yet there's always some asshole bringing up ZLY here for no reason. Like, we're just ZLY's fans, we don't feel the need to tear down others to bring her up. But psychos like yourself hate ZLY so much you can't help yourself but bring her up on every other actress in her age range's page to talk shit. You keep making multiple accounts to interact with yourself and it's so transparent and pathetic. You know she's a celebrity and is never going to care what you're saying right? And you sound deranged to the rest of us normal people. Get a job or a life and stop daydreaming these dramatic scenarios involving celebrities that never happened.

I think she was and is beautiful, but she definitely got work done. Yes, she lost weight and got older. But this was filmed when she was 21...her face didn't change that much naturally. I'm not hating at all or judging her for it, it's just the truth. Most actresses, even ones hailed as "natural beauties," get some kind of plastic surgery.

It's still a good drama and worth watching if the synopsis sounds interesting to you. The ML is definitely the weakest actor in the bunch, but the FL is really good.

It's not an issue to have a drama that is about close friends. The problem was that the marketing kind of baited it as GL. That, along with the serious lack of any GL content from China, resulted in people being disappointed.

It's idealistic, immature, and selfish but it's a drama so you're free to think it's all rainbows and puppies if you want.

I understand your frustration. There were many things left unsaid and unfinished but I was okay with that. The ending was simple. It didn't completely go against the stakes that were put in place in the beginning of the drama though which is why I appreciated it. So many fantasy dramas like Angel's Last Mission Love, Goblin, etc. put these rules out that dictate everything that happens in the drama and then throws those rules out the window to have a happy ending and that drives me insane. While this drama didn't wrap everything up perfectly I was still satisfied for the most part. It wasn't the most amazing drama and I'm not calling it a masterpiece like many are. But I enjoyed it and the ending didn't ruin it for me, so that's a win.
